Air conditioning
Engine
Mahindra uses various types of engines to power its vehicles namely mHawk
and mEagle. mHawk engine is broadly used in TUV300 , XUV500 & Scorpio
and mEagle engine is used in Xylo.
mHawk used in XUV500 develops 140bhp and it is 2.2l turbo diesel engine at
the same time mHawk used in scorpio develops 120bhp.
mEagle CRDe engine is used in Xylo and it delivers 112bhp. It has dual pilot
injection which makes it to reach 60kph in 6.2 seconds.
mHawk and mEagle employs a top mounted intercooler to provide extra
exhaust.
Engine oil
Engine oil has main function of lubricating the and cooling the inside of
engine. It plays a major role in proper working order of engine. Oil is used to
lubricate the pistons, piston rings and cylinders. Thin film of oil, leftover
when pistons move in cylinders, are sucked in combustion chamber and get
burnt.
Engine oil should be changed at regular interval to keep the smooth
functioning of engine. For this this engine is lifted with the help of pneumatic
motors. The engine oil dipstick is removed and a litre of additive is added to
clean the oil chamber. Then the oil is removed from bottom and new oil is
added upto a marked level.
Like the engine oil various type other oil is added for different purposes like:-
 Engine coolant
 Brake fluid.
 Power steering oil.
 Windshield washer fluid.
 Clutch fluid.
Filters are also changed in servicing of the vehicle, they are changed after a
fixed distance covered or over a period of time. Filters used in vehicles are :-
 Oil filter.
 Air filter.
Brake repair
In vehicles many a times disc fails to function effectively or the brake
shoe makes noises. In this case changing of brake shoe is done to
eliminate the problem. In case disc brakes the disc is changed along with
springs.
Steering & suspension
Various problems in steering comes with time such as vibrating at high
speeds, steering fail etc. comes in light and these problems are solved in
workshop. If the problem is severe the setup is changed but initially its costly
but to some extent only rack & pinion arrangement gives the solution.
Suspension problems causes vehicle to pull one side while driving and this
may be due to low tire pressure, uneven tire wear, alignment bad, due to
springs or steering component is bad. Other than all springs should be
changed if it has any problem.
Air conditioning
Seeing the problems in air conditioner various check-up are carried out with
the help of computer and on retrieving the error codes, the specified
components such as compressor, condenser etc. are changed or repaired.
Company gives a list of errors codes and to which it is related to. Computer
diagnosis is often the most cost effective and efficient way for a automobile
technician to diagnose a problem.
Wheel balancing & Alignment
Correct wheel balance is very important for vehicles as unbalanced
wheels can cause premature and accelerated wear of tyres and shock
absorbers.
In this the wheel is rotated at a RPM
of 100 to determine the misbalance.
Once located weight balance is
added at specific place given by the
machine. And again the test is
carried to find out the errors.
Denting & painting
Dents are the scratches that occur on vehicles when they collide with any other
body or thing. Dents are repaired using some specific machine. One such is Tecna
machine which is used as dc spot wielder and dent remover.. Mahindra also car dent
estimator on its website.
Painting is done in specialised room designed to paint. Any external particle is not
allowed to enter the room. The painters enters the room in a specialised suite only
and special machine is used for the mixing of paint and for spraying paint
