This document provides an overview and review of a magazine cover and contents page design. The front cover receives positive feedback for having no negative space, a 3D masthead that stands out, and a feature photo that appeals to the target audience. However, the busy background could confuse elements and the photo should be more centered. The contents page is clear but dull in color and lacks visual interest. Overall, the masthead design is most successful while the feature photo placement and contents page could be improved.

2. Front Cover (Pros)
No real negative space
as background fills
whole cover with colour
and variety.
Masthead stands out of the
page with a 3d effect and a
bold outline.
The style of the
cover is very
pronounce with a
general recurrence
of green as the
main colour. Easily
identifiable.
Feature article photograph
is effective as it resembles
the sort of age the
magazine will appeal to
just at a glance.
Plug outlined with a
glow which stays with
the green theme. Also
summarises the
contents well.
Tone is generally comic
with the hint of graffiti
used in the masthead
and the background.

centred or to the right to
invite readers to read on

8. What went well/What could I do better
 My Masthead has the greatest effect on this project as it jumps out of the
page with a 3D effect.
 The background is vibrant leaving no negative space
 Feature article photograph engages with the reader because it makes eye
contact.
 Colour scheme is kept consistent which makes for easier reading.
 The magazine is easily identifiable from distance.
 Contents page is easy to read
 The feature article photograph is in the corner of the cover not being used
to full effect as if it were in the centre.
 Cover background is a bit too noisy which can mix up with the plug.
 Contents page is dull with no real colours
 Lots of negative space in contents page
 No images to draw in the reader.

9. Conventions I used
 In my masthead I’ve used big eye catching colours and font style
to draw attention.
 My feature article photograph, I have used a mid shot to engage
with the reader.
 Used a bold typography to make it eye catching and unique.
 I have used the convention of as little negative space as possible
on the front cover.
 The feature article photograph is made the main item on the
page.
