This document summarizes the key things the student learned in creating their magazine media product. They learned that using bright colors, recognizable faces of artists, and an engaging layout are important for attracting their target audience. They also learned skills in using software like InDesign to lay out pages and incorporate text and images. In interviewing their brother for the magazine, the student gained experience in planning photographs and interviews for their media product.

My magazine has conventions of other magazines
because it has a barcode, magazine features, the
price, date, a main image and a masthead.
By creating your magazine and setting the
target audience to a different group of people
than most other magazines it’ll attract people
to see what’s so interesting about the magazine
(the hood).

4. The words used in the magazine
aren’t really to represent the
‘urban genre’ everything is
written clearly in the queens
English so that it is
understandable for everyone.
No slang or abbreviated words
are used.
As for layout and colours everything matches up. I
chose green white and black as the 3 main colours
(aside from pictures) to use. The double page spread
has all three colours and I have used them so that
the words are still clear and the font is still
readable.

Where is your magazine likely to be sold?
Company’s such as Bauer and IPC
distribute some of the biggest
magazine labels. The magazine I
researched was ‘Kerrang’ and got
published by Bauer Consumer Media
as a monthly magazine distributed to
many country’s including : My magazine is aimed to be sold at various
Europe, Spain, South Africa etc… different shops like HMV Smith and even in
supermarkets such as ASDA’s Tesco’s and
Sainsbury’s .

media product?

My Target audience is youths aged between 17
and 23 who have aspirations in becoming a
artist. The magazines address’s their
aspirations by helping and giving websites and
ideas as to how to get further in the music
industry. Ideally its for people for working and
middle class people who live all around

audience?

By using bold black writing and
mainly black and white colours. Also
by putting well known and
recognisable artists on the contents
page with headlines and story
updates on the front page.
The layout and the photo’s are
set up that way to attract the
target audience. The photo’s
are brighter and bolder so that
the faces of the artists are
recognisable to people.

Planning photographs and interviews
On InDesign I learnt how to was very easy for me as the artist I
create pages and textboxes interviewed is my brother so
and to fit content to screen arranging times places and dates
wasn’t very hard. Also interviewing
was simple because he’s not hard to
get into contact with and he fits the
description of an artist who was
once an ‘‘upcoming artist’’.
