This document summarizes a study that investigated the effects of biodiesel-diesel blends on the exhaust emissions and performance of a compression ignition engine. Specifically, the study tested neat diesel (100% diesel), B20 (20% biodiesel and 80% diesel), and B50 (50% biodiesel and 50% diesel). The results showed that using biodiesel blends resulted in lower brake thermal efficiency, higher specific fuel consumption, lower exhaust gas temperature, higher CO emissions, and higher HC emissions compared to neat diesel.
