Over the course of a career spanning nearly three decades, Lori Fagien has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative forces in the music and publishing entertainment industry.
Lori Fagien graduated from the University of Florida with a BS Degree in Marketing and Advertising.  She began her career at GE Battery Division in Communications/Marketing and left to become the General Manager and Media Director for Carlson & Associates.  An advertising agency specializing in fitness.  She negotiated, researched and planned budgets for the agency as well as managing the staff.  She successfully worked with media in print, radio and TV for health club clients nationally and one of the largest locally owned fitness and wellness centers as the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center.
The phenomenal success of JAZZIZ Magazine, led Lori Fagien to leave Carlson & Associates running JAZZIZ full time while later launching other titles such as Play Magazine and Music.Com.  Lori Fagien continued to use marketing concepts never before employed in the sale of print media and the music industry, making JAZZIZ the leader within three years of it’s launch in 1983.  JAZZIZ became the publication of choice and  established a new industry model.  While at Carlson & Associates, Lori Fagien clearly established herself as someone who thought “outside the box” long before it was a catch phrase and successfully implemented programs.
Lori Fagien was the first publisher to create themed issues, like the first female publisher to create the annual women in jazz issue.  Along with developing the concept of jazz in June to increase retail sales during the slower Summer months. Unique in both concept and delivery, the sales for jazz more than doubled because of Lori Fagien’s efforts and the music industry was staggered by the amazing success.
Lori Fagien along with creating new merchandise from key chains, mints to visors.  The uniqueness of the brand lead to the creation of men’s ties and boxer shorts with Nicole Miller. Lori Fagien also worked with other publishing companies creating book deals like those with Cherry Lane Publishing. Lori Fagien has produced themed cookbooks that come with audio compact discs to go along with the cookbooks.  They continue to sell after first being produced in 1996. She created extraordinary events for retailers such as Macy’s.  A successful tour with jazz artists coinciding with runway modeling and music performances in the men’s departments at Macy’s in the SE, coinciding with those same artists wearing the latest fashion trends photographed and displayed in JAZZIZ Magazine at the same time those pages were also featured exclusively  in Macy’s Fall catalogue distributed and seen by millions of Macy’s customers and JAZZIZ readers.  These events had never been executed prior to Lori Fagien creating this unique concept.  Unprecedented by any other music magazine!
REVIEWS – 5 stars! * * * * *  February 13, 2009  By  Eric  Flescher  "dreric1kansas@aol.com"  I bought this book in 1998. Somehow it has escaped detection in my massive collection. It has some great recipes, selected from ones that the couple/ authors have enjoyed throughout two decades. Simple to make recipes with easy to find ingredients, these recipes can provide an extra little spark to meals . dinners and perhaps more. The hors d'oevres, main entrees. side dishes and desserts are not in themselves are not that extraordinary. However included in this book, one can find some interesting romantic meals and that's the name of the game. Some of these include a variety of tasty and stimulating recipes that are fun and interesting. Examples are salmon in scallion broth, wasabi marinated strip steaks, spicy greens with garlic and ginger, mixed berry cobbler, acorn squash rings. I haven't tried them yet but I will.
Lori Fagien created events for clients such as Sony, Panasonic, Technics, Acoustic Research and worked with Steinway & Sons by having jazz artists performance at Steinway Hall in their flagship location on 57 th  Street in New York City, while promoting JAZZIZ Magazine’s licensing deal with Warner Music Enterprises in 1994-1996 part of the Time Warner company. Along with events, Lori Fagien also created co-branding opportunities with coffee companies like Barnies Coffee and Tea company, creating the JAZZIZ Blend coffee that was sold at all Barnies Coffee and Tea locations and JAZZIZ Magazine was distributed and sold with the purchase of a pound of the JAZZIZ blend.  This promotion was so successful it lasted over 3 years and was Barnies Coffee and Tea company’s top selling blended coffee.
After two decades of successfully running JAZZIZ Magazine and other media titles, a boutique record label called i.e. music, the launch of JAZZIZ Bistro was founded in 2004 and the first location was built in Hollywood, Florida at the Hardrock Entertainment Facilities.  Boca Magazine's Best of Boca 2005 edition has named JAZZIZ Bistro BEST PLACE FOR NIGHT MUSIC! JAZZIZ Bistro is a new and exciting dining experience replete with great food, specialty drinks, unique atmosphere and the best music in South Florida. A state of the art sound stage, indoor and outdoor bars/lounges and retail space makes JAZZIZ a one of a kind destination for people who enjoy great food, entertainment and a place to hang with friends and loved ones.
When Lori Fagien departed from JAZZIZ, she turned her  attention to therapeutic spa music and relaxation visuals. Creating compact discs and dvds to promote and market  products utilizing music and video footage. Another groundbreaking attempt by integrating and utilizing Music to promote products and services.
Lori Fagien is currently  involved with the marketing of medical treatments and consulting for cutting edge procedures in Stem Cell.  The mission of the South Florida Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant Institute is to provide total patient care of unsurpassed excellence offering technologically and clinically advanced treatments to the community.

  • 2. Over the course of a career spanning nearly three decades, Lori Fagien has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative forces in the music and publishing entertainment industry.
  • 3. Lori Fagien graduated from the University of Florida with a BS Degree in Marketing and Advertising. She began her career at GE Battery Division in Communications/Marketing and left to become the General Manager and Media Director for Carlson & Associates. An advertising agency specializing in fitness. She negotiated, researched and planned budgets for the agency as well as managing the staff. She successfully worked with media in print, radio and TV for health club clients nationally and one of the largest locally owned fitness and wellness centers as the Gainesville Health and Fitness Center.
  • 4. The phenomenal success of JAZZIZ Magazine, led Lori Fagien to leave Carlson & Associates running JAZZIZ full time while later launching other titles such as Play Magazine and Music.Com. Lori Fagien continued to use marketing concepts never before employed in the sale of print media and the music industry, making JAZZIZ the leader within three years of it’s launch in 1983. JAZZIZ became the publication of choice and established a new industry model. While at Carlson & Associates, Lori Fagien clearly established herself as someone who thought “outside the box” long before it was a catch phrase and successfully implemented programs.
  • 5. Lori Fagien was the first publisher to create themed issues, like the first female publisher to create the annual women in jazz issue. Along with developing the concept of jazz in June to increase retail sales during the slower Summer months. Unique in both concept and delivery, the sales for jazz more than doubled because of Lori Fagien’s efforts and the music industry was staggered by the amazing success.
  • 6. Lori Fagien along with creating new merchandise from key chains, mints to visors. The uniqueness of the brand lead to the creation of men’s ties and boxer shorts with Nicole Miller. Lori Fagien also worked with other publishing companies creating book deals like those with Cherry Lane Publishing.   • 7. Lori Fagien has produced themed cookbooks that come with audio compact discs to go along with the cookbooks. They continue to sell after first being produced in 1996. She created extraordinary events for retailers such as Macy’s. A successful tour with jazz artists coinciding with runway modeling and music performances in the men’s departments at Macy’s in the SE, coinciding with those same artists wearing the latest fashion trends photographed and displayed in JAZZIZ Magazine at the same time those pages were also featured exclusively in Macy’s Fall catalogue distributed and seen by millions of Macy’s customers and JAZZIZ readers. These events had never been executed prior to Lori Fagien creating this unique concept. Unprecedented by any other music magazine!
  • 8. REVIEWS – 5 stars! * * * * * February 13, 2009 By  Eric Flescher "dreric1kansas@aol.com" I bought this book in 1998. Somehow it has escaped detection in my massive collection. It has some great recipes, selected from ones that the couple/ authors have enjoyed throughout two decades. Simple to make recipes with easy to find ingredients, these recipes can provide an extra little spark to meals . dinners and perhaps more. The hors d'oevres, main entrees. side dishes and desserts are not in themselves are not that extraordinary. However included in this book, one can find some interesting romantic meals and that's the name of the game. Some of these include a variety of tasty and stimulating recipes that are fun and interesting. Examples are salmon in scallion broth, wasabi marinated strip steaks, spicy greens with garlic and ginger, mixed berry cobbler, acorn squash rings. I haven't tried them yet but I will.

Lori Fagien created events for clients such as Sony, Panasonic, Technics, Acoustic Research and worked with Steinway & Sons by having jazz artists performance at Steinway Hall in their flagship location on 57 th Street in New York City, while promoting JAZZIZ Magazine’s licensing deal with Warner Music Enterprises in 1994-1996 part of the Time Warner company. Along with events, Lori Fagien also created co-branding opportunities with coffee companies like Barnies Coffee and Tea company, creating the JAZZIZ Blend coffee that was sold at all Barnies Coffee and Tea locations and JAZZIZ Magazine was distributed and sold with the purchase of a pound of the JAZZIZ blend. This promotion was so successful it lasted over 3 years and was Barnies Coffee and Tea company’s top selling blended coffee.

After two decades of successfully running JAZZIZ Magazine and other media titles, a boutique record label called i.e. music, the launch of JAZZIZ Bistro was founded in 2004 and the first location was built in Hollywood, Florida at the Hardrock Entertainment Facilities. Boca Magazine's Best of Boca 2005 edition has named JAZZIZ Bistro BEST PLACE FOR NIGHT MUSIC! JAZZIZ Bistro is a new and exciting dining experience replete with great food, specialty drinks, unique atmosphere and the best music in South Florida. A state of the art sound stage, indoor and outdoor bars/lounges and retail space makes JAZZIZ a one of a kind destination for people who enjoy great food, entertainment and a place to hang with friends and loved ones.
  • 11. When Lori Fagien departed from JAZZIZ, she turned her attention to therapeutic spa music and relaxation visuals. Creating compact discs and dvds to promote and market products utilizing music and video footage. Another groundbreaking attempt by integrating and utilizing Music to promote products and services.
  • 12. Lori Fagien is currently involved with the marketing of medical treatments and consulting for cutting edge procedures in Stem Cell.
