1. Logo
The majority of film production logos I have seen
on the Internet and in the institutional
information on posters and end of trailers look
like the images to the right and below this
paragraph. They have one thing in common,
which is a link to an old make of film camera;
reels. This tells us that they are a company that
makes films with this image being presented in
the logo. They also contain ‘reel’ in the title of the
company, the one below is known as ‘reel farm’
and has synergy with the rest of the image.
The colour for them is black and white with
tones of grey and silver. This suggests the
company to be old and out of date. However,
‘reelium’ has tones of silver throughout it,
which gives it a technology feel to it, or a
modern look to it.
Our Logo
I have an idea to
make an actual
camera reel for
the logo with the
name of the
company on the
side of it.
To start the reel I used the tool
elliptical marquee tool and the
fill tool to make to large black
circles to be represented as the
reels on the camera.
2. I then used the same tool
and the erase tool to make
six holes in the reel and the
results are too the left. Some
were out of orientation and
there were some blurry
tones around the edges of
the small circles that I had
to spend time erasing.
Then I added the two reels
together and put them on the top
of the black rectangle to make it
closer to the image I had
imagined. I thought of putting the
two reels close together as the
gap looked.
I grabbed an image
of a triangle shape
of google which I then retrieved the layout of it so I could edit it into
a trapezium to add on the end of the camera reel. This is to show
the projection part of a camera reel.
I found a font style on a website known as
dafont.com. I downloaded this font and
edited it on Photoshop be getting rid of
the white back ground. I also use the
magic wand tool and fill tool to change the
font colour to red which links in with the
genres picked as death is a common
theme (genres include thriller, horror
and film noir).
3. I have then put the font on the side of the
camera in this image. Originally I had it
as ‘scream productions’ but it seemed
too bland, so I changed it to relate with
the logo. So I changed the productions to
reel this still didn’t seem like a good
name and it had n synergy with the films
that we were to make.
I then added loud to the font to link it
in with the films to be made and the
font. ‘reel’ is supposed to sound like
real to make it all a play on words.
