The document discusses potential locations for a photoshoot for a magazine. It considers locations like a university photo studio, churches, beaches, and art galleries.
The document settles on using the university photo studio to take pictures of models. It notes the studio will make the images look more professional. Outdoor locations could draw attention away from the models. Permission must be obtained from the studio manager.
A second location of the photographer's home is selected to photograph props and cultural items against a white wall or in flat lays. While not as advanced as the studio, the photographer aims to achieve a similar look. This location is very convenient with no travel or guests to coordinate.

4. Finalised Location Scout
Location 1: Sunderland University Studio
I have decided to use the Photoshoot studio to take
pictures of my models as I feel this will make my
magazine look much more professional. I didn’t use
the studios when doing my AS work therefore I feel
this introduction of high camera quality and lighting
will really improve my images. I also think a plain
white background would really compliment my
contemporary style of magazine and therefore
outdoor locations would draw the attention away
from my models.
As the university is its own establishment I will have
to email the manager to get permission to use it and
book a slot that is suitable for both me and my
models. In preparation for this, I have researched
the email of the manager and first contacted him to
ask what availability he has. I’m then going to feed
this back to my model and find an appropriate time
and day.
5. Location 1: Scout
The studio is located in Sunderland's David Puttnam
Media Centre which is only a 3 minute walk from my
college and therefore is really accessible. Using an
indoor location means there are no issues with weather
or natural lighting therefore I can feel confident to turn
up at the location prepared. I do however need to make
sure to take an SD card so that I can take my images
home.
I have had work experience in the media
centre therefore I know my way around and
how to get into the studios. The studios
consist of digital lighting and cameras that can
be adjusted to give a high key or low key lit
image. The backdrop of the studio can be
black, white or grey yet I am still undecided as
to which colour I will use. I think white will be
easier to edit and offer a contemporary style
however a black background may make the
magazine more mysterious and therefore
more intriguing.
6. Location 1: Travel and Parking
If I was going to travel from my college I would simply be able to walk across
however I need to organise transportation for my models. As I know the
area well, I’m going to pick up my models and drive them to the location.
This will however take slightly longer therefore I will have to account for this
when planning a time schedule.
As I will be spending an hour at this
location it means I will require a safe
place to park my car. Luckily, there is a
car park directly behind the studio
that is used by students. Upon
scouting the location I have found
that the car park costs £1.10 an hour
therefore I will need to be prepared
with money and precise with my
timings. The car park is extremely big
which guarantees a space however if I
have trouble I will park at my college
and walk the extra 3 minutes.
7. Location 2: Indoor house facility
I have decided to take images of props, musical items, food and other cultural
objects in my home. Although a picture of a record player for example would
look much more professional taken in the studio, it would be impossible to
transfer all my props and too time consuming.
I will be taking the pictures in against a white wall or will be creating Tumblr
like flat lays to display them in an aesthetic way. I will try to achieve a similar
studio look by using flash and editing however my camera equipment isn’t as
advanced.
8. Location 2: Travel and Parking
The location is really easy to get to and as I am
there myself I can take the images any time. I do
not need my models for the images I take in my
home therefore I don’t need to worry about
arranging transport or account travelling time. I
will instead take the images in my own time.
