Mary-Anne evaluates her news report, noting that it had a clear introduction and conclusion, good use of music, and realistic camera shots using techniques like the rule of thirds. She could improve the flow by shortening clips and ensuring consistent volume and quality when filming. Creating a detailed script and planning process helped her and her partner Anna stay organized and on track to produce a final video close to their original vision.

News Report evaluation
I think that overall my news report went quite well, it has a clear introduction and end, a ticker, good
use or music and I used good camera shots, all these little things add up to make my news report
realistic. My camera shots included a rule of 3rds where the action happens in just a third of the
camera shot, this happens with the interviews with the public, I did this to create a smart, interesting
shot to catch the audience’s attention.
I also set the scene well in the studio using the board projector to project photos and ‘Hampshire
news’ we did this to make the setting a little bit more realistic and intriguing.
I could improve it by making flow better by shortening clips, and making it all the same volume and
quality, I will do this by taking more care when I’m filming. I would also be more organised with my
footage and get it all on the computer by the end of the lesson so I don’t risk losing any. I am very
glad I made and followed my script as when I went out to get more footage we knew what we were
saying and didn’t waste time. During this, I did get quite behind due to me and Anna being
unorganised but we caught up quickly and knew what we were doing. I found this topic very
interesting and I learnt many skills for example making a ticker with the date and time, learning
about camera angles and shots and how much the audio affects the final outcome.
I think Anna and I planned our news report very well and we knew exactly what we wanted and our
final video was very similar to our original idea. We did equipment, costumes and crew roles lists, A

script, synopsis and an audience idea. This really helped us as we knew what language to use, how
serious it was and what impression we need to make on the audience.
