The filmmakers wanted to film in daylight locations rather than at night to subvert thriller genre conventions. They scouted various locations beforehand but ultimately chose to film at their school and surrounding area as it was convenient and provided a natural, warm setting fitting for the characters and story of two friends. They discovered an ideal bathroom location on the day of filming, choosing it because it was hidden, quiet, and had a large mirror, making it a natural climax setting that reflected the school context of the target audience.
