2. First Thoughts…..
When planning our ideas for possible locations to film the music video, we looked for places which
would be affordable , and also to represent the themes of the song, ‘young love’. This narrowed it
down to local parks, which we thought due to the playgrounds we would be able to use to display
the youthful and joyful side to love using playground equipment, for example the swings.
After deciding our main setting for the majority of the scenes in the music video, we looked at different
types of parks, searching for the perfect scenery parks, for example ‘Small parks or graffiti parks..,
but overall secluded’. After, looking at the different types of parks in depth we took inspiration
from different music videos which has a similar genres of urban/r’n’b/dance, because of the genres
we looked further into songs and there videos which are set both in parks, but different styles. For
the music video ‘gold dust and Hot right now’ the video is set in a basketball/skipping court which
works well with the theme of the song, which conveys an energetic and active theme. However,
this didn’t exactly fit the theme of our music choice of love, this therefore led us to more of an
urban edge due to the large amounts of grafiti, which appeals to the urban audience as it links with
the stereotypes of youthful, street orientated audiences.
However, both videos contained high energy dance routines and had bright, colorful, scenery which
links in with the already established theme, as a result we used some aspects of the park but toned
down the theme to reflect the lyrics of the song that portray sadness and heartbreak
6. The last slide focus on more realistic prospects on where we could film our video,
compares to the ones from the DJ Fresh videos as they are set in America, therefore
making it near impossible for us to manipulate completely. Also due to the lively
vibes you gain from the music video it wouldn’t demonstrate, the more negative
feelings. However the third slide on ‘gold dust and hot right now’, conforms more of
what we our trying to portray in our music video, because it involves more of a gritty,
urban style which relates to the audience of our chosen genre. Although we may not
use all the ideas completely some aspects such as, having shots of brick walls can be
associated with the urban style. Moreover, the main setting being outdoors is similar
to the other genres, therefore broadening the themes bringing in several different
genre audiences to out music video.
