Localisationengineer
- based Utrecht, NL
As a member of the Engineering and Quotes department, the localisation engineer (LE) will be part of the
translation process from the preliminary steps (quoting) until the last one (QA and preparing files for delivery)
within a localization project. This team not only prepares the files for translation, but also will assess other
departments on the costs and time needed to complete the project, and find solutions to the challenges that
may arise during the localization project. An LE will be working with quoting metrics, tools and procedures,
parsingand scriptscreation as well as workingwith the company’s CAT tool (Wordfast) on a daily basis,and will
be involved in different types of localization projects (website and software localization, e-learning…)
Position responsibilities:
o Analyze various fileformats for localization potential
o Assess time/material requirements for completion of projects
o Prepare various fileformats and technologies for translation usingCAT tools
o Carry out Quality Assuranceprocedures on translated files
o Maximisethe use of technology in all steps of production
o Providetechnical supportfor production team, sales and other departments
o Develop and implement procedures for maximisingproductivity through technology solutions
o Interface with production team, sales and other departments
Essential skills and experience required:
o Bachelor's degree or its equivalent (Computer Science or Mathematics preferred)
o Superb analytical skills
o Excellent written and spoken communication skills(English)
o Extensive use of CAT and localization engineeringtools
o Some knowledge of InDesign,QuarkXPress and other DTP applications
o Some knowledge of e-learning
o Desireto work in a fastpaced environment and be a team player
o Organized and motivated self-starter with a problem-solvingattitude
o Ability to prioritizeand manage multipletasks
o Must be flexiblewith hours to accommodate project deadlines
