their grandmother. An American couple walks up to the church and Michaela

StoryCorps.org is an organization whose mission is to provide people of all
backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories
of our lives. StoryCorps furnishes a lesson that introduces students to their mission
and helps students learn basic skills in interviewing and storytelling. During this
students explore the meaning of story, watch and listen to video clips from
StoryCorps, collaborate with classmates on interviewing techniques, and share
strategies for improving an interview. StoryCorps also supplies a list of selected

It is not until we have worked through the StoryCorps lesson that I handout the

journalism, historians, biographers, authors and more. To get started I ask students to
choose a family member/significant adult and using the StoryCorps question list

Puritans left England in large numbers during the 1600 s with the goal of creating a
God centered community where citizens worked together in all aspects of life
(Butler, Wacker, and Balmer, 2003). Likewise, as stated in Religionin America: A
Reader (1998), William Penn planned for Pennsylvania to be a place where people
could serve the Lord and Quakers would be an example of Christian values.
Although there were differences in beliefs between the two religions, the basic

This letter will no doubt be hard for many of you to read, I empathize as it was also
hard to write. I beg your patience and hope you read through to the end. What I
would like to convey to you is my recent shift in world view. That is to say that I
recently came to realize that I am an atheist.
This is likely shocking to most of you. Let me be clear by what I intend to convey by
identifying as such. I do not mean to say I am opposed to religion, or claim there is
no God. I still identify very much with LDS culture and attend church regularly.
Rather, I identify as an atheist as a way to convey that I seem to have lost Faith
that there is a God. Over the last year I have studied and ponder in depth to

I was raised in a very active and loving family of the LDS Church. My family is
still very active, my father and my mother have served in leadership roles. They

Heidegger says, whereas Wittgenstein implies the opposite and [basically] says that
death is not our business; that death belongs to the dead and eternal life belongs to
those who are living in the present. Wittgenstein s line of thought is therefore a lot
like Epicurus line of thought when he says: Death, therefore, the most awful of evils,
is nothing to us, seeing that, when we are, death has not come, and, when death has
come, we are not.
I am personally leaning towards Epicurus and Wittgenstein s interpretation of death.
I obviously accept Heidegger s and Wittgenstein s claim that my death is not a
moment nor event in my life [to which I will thus never experience], but I do not see
how my death would be immediate in the way Heidegger seems to think it

Synthesis Alum Synthesis
The synthesis of alum was carried out adequately as evidenced by the correct
changes in the appearances of the mixtures and compounds in various stages of the
synthesis process as well as the appearance of the synthesized alum (Table I).
Although the weight of the alum placed in both crucibles was similar, the weight of
KAl(SO4)2 in the crucibles after heating was unequal relative to the weight of the
alum(Table II). A plausible cause for such disparity could be the loss of alum due to
the spattering of contents observed during the initial phase of heating. The
calculations used to determine the waters of hydration had a limitation because all
the difference between the weight of alum and KAl(SO4)2 could only be attributed to
the water lost
