Plaw 210 Memorandum of Law Essay
To: Professor Susan Patrick From: Virginia M Garman Date: March 4, 2013 Re: Memorandum
of Law; Rough Draft QUESTION PRESENTED You asked me to answer the question, Are the
Virginia courts likely to follow the unconscionability doctrine as set out and applied in Jones v.
Star Credit Corp. , based on the opinion and rulings of previous similar cases. SHORT ANSWER
The Virginia courts are highly likely to follow the unconscionability doctrine that has been set out
and applied in Jones v. Star Credit Corp. The Jones purchased a freezer unit from Star Credit Corp
for $900, three times the retail value of the unit. In this case, the court held that the contract
between parties was unconscionable because it violated [HN2] U.C.C. В§ 2 302... Show more

Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989) Husband filed a cross bill on claims of his
wife s adultery, and persuasion to sign a property settlement agreement without consultation
with counsel. Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989) The husband claimed he was
coerced into signing the papers with a false pretense of his wife s eventual return to the family
home. Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989) In this case, Sandra A. Derby had been

Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989) The wife managed to persuade her husband to amend
their property settlement agreement, allowing her to receive the entire value of essentially all
of the valuable real estate that they owned. Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989)
This took place in a parking lot with no consultation or counselor present. Derby v. Derby, 378
S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989) The husband explained that he signed the agreement because he
thought if he did, his wife would return to the home. Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct.
App. 1989) Evidence of his wife s adultery was presented at trial and the husband was granted a
divorce on that ground by the trial court. Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d 74 (Va. Ct. App. 1989) The
trial court also held that the separation agreement was invalid due to terms of unconscionability and
constructive fraud or duress. Derby v. Derby, 378 S.E. 2d

U.s. Dollar Generals ( Dgs )
Views from the DG Dollar Generals (DGs) are popping up left and right. DGs are now in our
backwards challenging all of our local businesses. Working at the DGs is not a hard job once the
store is stocked and ready for business. I used to see DGs as where sorry people worked because
overtime, people get lazy and let the DGs go and make it look almost impossible to get it back
looking nice again. But that was until my buddies and I started working at the new DG in Ino.
We are all there to make money to have for gas, keep girlfriends happy (which seems almost
impossible to do), and other expenses. We are determined to keep our DG up and running great
with no dirty isles, no items stuck behind others, and no rude employees. DollarGeneral is the place
to shop because it has a goodtrained staff, a friendly clean environment, and cheaper products to
bring in more business. A store s staff is like columns, holding up the stores foundation from
mayhem. To be part of a staff anywhere you have to be determined for whatever before you walk
into the doors of that particular business to work for. If you have a store with employees working
for you and they are not trained, they won t have a clue what tasks they are there to complete.
Trained employees is a key to success in a business. The manager of the DG is in control of hiring
workers who she sees will be a good worker for the business. It s not hard to comprehend the basic
needs of a good employee. A good employee help s a

The Legality of the NSA Essay
After the disclosures by Edward Snowden turned a critical eye to the NSA many people
questioned the legality of the acts. The NSA claimed that their work was legal and had prevented
many terrorist plots. However, evidence of only four plots was ever found. Even if the acts were
founded in law, they still angered large numbers of citizens. Many citizens do not care if the spying
is legal, believing that it is morally wrong. Governmentsurveillanceorganizations have grown to be
extremely powerful and are capable of accessing large swaths of personal information; these
abilities intrude into the private lives of citizens and need to be curtailed.
The NSA collects information via various means. Some information is taken during transmission ...

With this information at hand, consumer trust in the companies dropped significantly; most
notably overseas where the NSA has fewer restrictions on what information could not be taken
about individuals. This is just a dragnet, a collection of basic information on everybody. If they
have a suspect, then they are more specific in their search. In a search for possible associates that
might provide information about possible plots the NSA can search three jumps , or degrees of
separation, from the target. This means that a friend of a friend of a friend of a target can be
spied on more so than the usual dragnet approach. This may seem like a relatively small quantity
at first, but considering that the average Facebook user has 190 friends, 16% of which are friends
with each other, from one subject it is possible that over 5 million individuals can be spied on from
one individual. Even a subject having just one friend or associate can result in over 26 thousand
individuals being the subject of spying efforts. Of course, there are more ways to retrieve
personal information than just phone records and Facebook profiles. The NSA can access any
and all e mail transmissions, the audio and video from services such as Skype, and documents
saved on cloud storage services. Cars often have black boxes which record information such as
speed, acceleration,

Abstract On Selection Performance
section{Selection Performance} All the selection steps have been designed using MC simulation,
and show a good agreement with the data. Additionally, the selection efficiency and purity as a
function of each step are shown schematically in~cref{fig:EvtSel_SelEffPur}. The BDT cut
massively enhanced the purity of the positron selection as shown
in~cref{fig:EvtSel_EffPurParticleNue}. Although the veto cuts reduced the positrons efficiency
and purity, they have increased the purity and efficiency of the electron antineutrino selection by
removing the positrons coming from the gammas as shown
in~cref{fig:EvtSel_EffPurNueSimpletopo}. begin{figure}[H]

The Characteristics Of A Serial Killer And The Zodiac Killer
In this paper, I will describe who the Zodiac Killer was, but also how a serial killer is different from
a normal homicide suspect. In addition, I will explain if the Zodiac Killer had specific criteria
when he selected his victims and whether a forensic psychologist or criminal profiler provided
input in this case. Finally, I will express my thoughts on why the Zodiac Killerwas never captured
and what else, if anything could have been done to help find the infamous Zodiac Killer.
In order to explain how a serial killer is different than a normal homicide is to first understand
how a serial killer operates. On December 20, 1968, in the sleepy town of Benecia, California the
murders of a teenage couple were discovered in an area called lover s lane off Lake Herman
Road. The victims, Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday, were shot while parked in their car
around 11:10pm. Investigators collected shell casings and other evidence from the scene, but
after several months they still did not have any witnesses or suspects. Then on July 4, 1969, a
second young couple were attacked by a gunman while in their car parked at Blue Rock Springs
Park in Vallejo; about 10 miles northwest of the Benecia murders. The female victim Darlene
Ferrin died from her wounds, but Michael Mageau who was shot in the leg, neck and jaw survived
and was able to tell the police what had occurred, along with a brief description of the gunman.
Later, the gunman phoned the Vallejo Police Department

Maust-Mohl s Argument Analysis
The tourism industry regarding animal encounters can harm the animal such as physical beatings,
malnourishment and mental trauma. Hediger agrees when he writes, Trifling disturbances may
occur, for the simple reason that certain innate behavior pattern, adapted for life in freedom, cannot
develop properly under conditions of captivity, or be brought into play, through lack of appropriate
stimuli (pg. 29). Basically, Hediger is warning us that putting animals in captivity for our personal
pleasure can harm them in many ways besides physically. Society needs to pay attention to the
animalsoverall wellbeing to make sure they are treated ethically and with morality. Not paying
attention to the needs of the animals needs during the transition... Show more content on

Writing in the journal, Social and Cultural Geography, Rebekah Fox states that, we need to
recognize the continuity of all life forms and value beings for their own intrinsic worth, autonomy
and difference rather than on the basis of their similarity to humans (pg. 527). In other words, Fox
believes that humans see animals as having both humanistic qualities and having their natural
instinct. However, we need to see all animals as having their own worth, and that no species are the
same. Although Fox does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that humans create these
humanistic qualities of the animal they are spending time with, with their own qualities. Fox agrees
when she writes, readings tend to essentialize animal actions into supposed biological behavior,
such as the pack instinct in dogs, and ignore animal agency and individual interaction (pg. 529). The
essence of Foxs argument is that some literature focuses on the animal s natural instinct instead of
the empathy and individualistic traits they have. While some people rarely admit as much
similarity we have with animals, they often take for granted that humans have the same natural
instinct to want to protect their young and defend against predators. Realizing the similarities
humans have with animals the public needs to be more concerned about the tourism industry and
how it greatly affects animals lives. The

Comp 2 Class Reflection
Writing is a skill that needs to be practiced. Before this class, I didn t care about the writing because
my high school teachers didn t care about my writing, as long as I turn a paper, I would be fine.
Now, at the end of my Comp 2 class, I can assure I have improved my skills. From simply using
MLA 8th format to writingan ethnography, this class has helped me get a more advanced writing
style to accomplish the requirements that higher educationrequires. First of all, before this class my
MLA formatting was wrong. For example, instead of writing Prof. Webb I wrote Pamela Webb,
another example is the class, instead of writing ENGL 1231 201 I wrote ENGL 1231, Section 201.
I made these mistakes because instead of asking a professor for help, I thought to ask Google
was good enough to get the knowledge and skills to write a good essay. Now instead of using
Google for the answer, I try to ask and get in touch with my professors whenever I have questions,
so I can do my assignments as my professors want them. I have never taken criticism good, so it

It also shows me how to write a good literary work and how hard it is. I used to think that writing
was the easiest thing ever; just throw some words in a paper and it s done, but in reality, writing is
a process where I have to take my time, sometimes read the instructions more than once, and I
have to decide where I stand according to my topic, so I can have a good argument for why I
believe that is right. Finally, this class will be beneficial not only in my academic life but also in
my professional. Now that I have the skills to write a paper my future classes will be easier
when I have to write a report or those type of assignments. On the other hand, this class will
impact my professional life, by helping to write property so people will be confident about my

It was the day after my birthday. My grandma had brought me and some friends down to visit her
and my grandpa. The day after we got there my grandma wanted to take us to a skatepark in

couple of days. So that day instead of going to columbia we just went to a skatepark in jefferson
city. It was fun but i really wish we could ve went to the skatepark in columbia. So the next day
me,lukas, and thomas, two of my best friends, went to a little camping spot that i know up on a
cliff side. Up at the spot we sat and chilled while listening to music and making a campfire while
we took turns going and getting sticks and brush to keep are fire going. Then it started getting to
be noon so we went back to the house for a little bit and had lunch and watched tv and played
xbox for a little bit. The next day my grandma woke us up early let us get ready and then took us
to mcdonalds to get some breakfast. I was so happy when she told us that she found out how to
get there. So once we had all got done eating breakfast we began to get moving. We were still on
our way there but we were close i could feel it. As we drove by on a street we seen the parking lot

around for a minute and then we found the entrance. So we got all our stuff ready and there was

The Noise Of Sound Waves Through Instruments And How The...
Introduction
Music takes up a large part of our lives, most people listen to it almost every day. It is one of the
only medians between People from completely different walks of life, connecting us all through
major symphonies or just beautifully simple chords. Though many people enjoy the emotion filled
sound that travel to their eardrums, most do not know exactly why. People also do not know
why they dislike some musical sounds. I am very curious as to why there are melodies
considered good or bad. Just as most people, I listen to music on the daily basis. I am also invested
in learning how to play the electric guitar which influences my interest in this topic greatly. I want
to find out why exactly different chords are considered either harmonic or discordant by looking
into the consonance and dissonance in music. In my research on this topic, I will focus mainly on
the emission of sound waves through instruments and how the notes come together. Sound travels
as a transverse wave which means it takes the same shape as sine waves, in mathematics. These
waves are used to produce different volume, frequencies, and timbre in instruments. In music, sound
waves have different frequencies which change the in pitch of notes, and different amplitudes,
which change the volume of notes.
Since I will be focusing on the changing of frequencies in notes, I will represent these changes by
modeling different chords, and notes by using sine waves. This will allow me to demonstrate how

Struggles
Ever since I was a born, I was a fighter, and always got up. Like a time in third grade, when I
struggled with reading. It was the day of my oral reading level test. I sat in the chilled classroom
on the scorched school summer day. This classroom was, of course, like any other generic
classroom, books, desks, whiteboard, everything you could want, but there were plants, lots of
plants. My teacher, a short, cheery lady with light yellow hair and rosy cheeks, called me up to

grabbed one out of the bin . If you don t know what telephone tubes are , there like phone tubes
you can use to read out loud, quietly, and hear how you re doing and stuff, and that s what I did,
that was the first time I saw how much help I needed, so when I needed to be plucked from class
for help, I was fine with it.
By the time the final test of the year came around, my level skyrocketed eight or nine levels! I had
grown over my level goal, and my performance in class got better too.
If it weren t for me wanting to get better at what I struggled at, if I hadn t struggled, I probably
wouldn t be where I am or who I am today, so if you struggle, get back up because if I could, you
can definitely, get up

Muscle Protein Synthesis Essay
Introduction:
In recent years, interest has sparked the health industry to research protein consumption after
exercise to optimise muscle growth. Muscle Protein Synthesis (MPS) is not only an appealing
topic for bodybuilders, it is also beneficial to those over 60 years of age who may have experienced
muscle mass loss over time. A decrease in muscle mass does not only lead to a decrease in overall
strength but also makes daily movement severely painful, leading to a poor quality of life. All
individuals can benefit from increasing muscle protein synthesis via an increased protein intake
after resistance training. This will aid in maintaining muscle mass, strength and overall health
(Wolfe, 2012).
Review of Research Studies:
Increasing muscle protein synthesis is crucial for the health of individuals over the age of 60. A
study conducted by Dr. Ryan Andrews shows that a change in daily protein intake can impact
the building of lean muscle mass. Participants between the age of 60 and 69 underwent a 12
week resistance training regime and were given a post exercise protein drink after each session.
Results showed a substantial increase in lean muscle mass over the 12 week program for both
males and females. Nevertheless, results indicated those that had consumed a daily diet high in
protein had comparable increases of lean muscle mass as those with a daily diet low in protein.
This indicates that it did not matter how much protein was consumed daily, but the post exercise ...

Electrolyte Concentration Experiment
The Scientist s topic is about electrolyte concentration in different types of drinks. The question the
scientist is trying to answer is Which drink has the highest lectrolyte concentration for replenishing
more electrolytes during and after physical activity? . The independent variable is the type of drink,
the dependet variable is the conductance (measured in amps) and the control variable is water.
To find out which drink will have the highest concentration of electrolyes, the scientist would have
to measure the conductance of the beverages. To do this, a multimeter along with a 9 volt battery is
needed to measure the current of the beverages. The multimeter is used to find the current of an
object. Specifically, the ammeter would be needed to measure the current, which is then used to
find the overall conductance. You will use it to measure conductance, which is proportional to the
electrolyte concentration. Because electrolytes are charged particles that carry current in solution,
the conductance of the solution depends on the concentration of the electrolytes. (David Whyte,
2016). Finding the conductance of a substance is done by dividing the substance s current by the
voltage. In this case, the voltage would be from the 9 volt battery used in the experiment. ... Show

John Swales defines a discourse community as a group of people that has an agreed set of
common public goals, ways to communicate with its members, to provide information and
feedback, genre(s) that the group may further communicate its goals, lexis, and a threshold level of
members (220 2). The group I chose to study St. Luke Church of God in Christ, St. Luke COGIC,
bears the qualifications to be a discourse community. Founded in 1925 by Millissis Shannon and
her husband Charles with only twelve members, pastoring St. Luke COGIC is Elder E. A.

great church to attend and has several activities, groups, departments, and ministries for any
person at any age. Some of them include Sunday School, music, men s, women s, youth, children

Cicero And The Catiline Conspiracy
Following the political defeat of Catiline, Cicero started giving speeches about the Catiline
Conspiracy in October of 63 BCE. Cicero realized Catiline was backed by commoners, so to
combat this, Cicero s first speech was aimed at calling out Catiline for his conspiracy. It is
important to take into consideration that this story is completely one sided from Cicero s point of
view. Catiline s arguments, for the most part, have been lost in history. With this in mind, Cicero
announced to the senate that Catiline ...watches and notes and marks down with his gaze each one
of us he plots to assassinate (Cicero, 76). Instead of sentencing Catiline to death, he demands that
Catiline leave the city. In doing this, he claims that Catiline s... Show more content on

In 60 BCE, Caesar did what the Senate had been fearing, he came back to Rome and wanted to
run for Consul. Unfortunately, the Senate denied his attempt to run for Consul, but he was able
to gain the help from Crassus and Pompey, which contributed to his gaining of the position of
Consul in 59 BCE. After his term in 58 BCE was over, Caesar went north to conquer Gaul. As
time passed, nearly 9 years, Caesar wanted to return to Rome, seeing as he conquered Gaul, and
become Consul. Unfortunately, the senate wanted to prosecute Caesar for the events that happened
in 59 BCE. On top of this, one of his supporters, Pompey who was now Consul, stopped supporting
him because he was threatened by the success Caesar had in Gaul. In the winter of 49 BCE, Caesar
went to his winter quarters in an attempt to come to an agreement with Pompey. Unfortunately, an
agreement was not made between the two and the Senate gave complete control of the Roman
Empire to Pompey. This event is what prompted Caesar to cross the Rubicon River. The Rubicon
was a border between the two provinces each of the men occupied. This act carried out by Caesar
and his army was illegal under Roman law and was categorized as an act of war, a Civil War.
This Civil war started in 49 BCE, which is the point many people argue the Roman Republic
came to an end. Caesar and Pompey, along with each of their own armies, were in an all out war
battling on Roman soil. Unlike Pompey, Caesar

In my opinion, this depiction of the Last Judgment is beautifully rendered and very stylized.
The idea of commissioning an enormous fresco, the largest ever painted in that century, depicting
the Last Judgment, was probably suggested to Clement VII by the traumatic events that were
undermining the unity of Christians at the time. After the pope s death, on September 25, 1534,
and only two days after Michelangelo s arrival in Rome, his successor, Paul III Farnese confirmed
the commission to Michelangelo, and in April 1535, scaffolding was put up in front of the altar
wall. Even before its official unveiling, the Judgment became the target of violent criticisms of a
moral character. All that had happened in the church in the years that preceded the Judgment,
including the Reformation and the Sack of Rome, had a direct influence on the work s conception:
painted on the altar wall, the Last Judgment was to represent humanity face to face with salvation.
The first impression I have when faced with the Last Judgment is that of a truly universal event, at
the center of which stands the powerful figure of Christ. His raised right hand compels the figures
on the left hand side, which are trying to ascend, to be plunged down towards Charon and Minos,
the Judge of the Underworld while his left hand is drawing up the chosen people on his right in an
irresistible current of strength. Excluded are the two upper lunettes with

Syriana Corporatocracy
In the film Syriana corporatocracy was portrayed as many companies conspired to control oil
producing nations for their own profit. These power structures are portrayed in a neutral light for
the first half of the movie. Connex and Killeen weren t portrayed in such a terrible light at first
because we were seeing it from a milder point of view, more like the view from someone who
works for those companies. However at the end of the movie I feel that the portrayal of the
different types of companies definitely changed. They began to show the more sketchy parts of it.

The Field Of Medicine Study Biology
[T]raditional education has students focusing on one career at a time, generally encompassing a
very specific field of interest. Students interested in the field of medicine study biology and don t
generally study much outside of science. Or, students interested in music study musical theory and
learn several different instruments they don t cross over into other fields of thought. This type of
learning, however, really doesn t reflect the way the world works. It doesn t even properly reflect
human experience: many students are puzzled when it comes to choosing a field of study. They
settle on one because there hasn t been an option available that combines their interests in a
practical way, or it simply isn t shown to them.
The interactions of this world, however, revolve around many different fields of thought
combining and working together. People nowadays need to be educated in a way that properly
represents this experience: the big picture experience. They need to be able to look to the future,
expand horizons, and combine fields of interest and thought to reach a new level of innovation in
today s world.

Janis Branam s Influence On My Life
I often wonder why I do the things I do in life. However, when it comes to family traditions, I
know exactly why I do them. I come from a very large family, with 6 sisters and 2 brothers the
house was always busy. With so many people in and out of our home, the people that come and go
and help to shape your lives, I believe it was my mother, Janis Branam, that had the most effect on
my life. One of the biggest influences she had on me was the holiday traditions. This may not
seem important to most, but looking back on my childhood, that is something that has changed me
and made me who I am today. My mother was a stay at home mom, and raising 9 children on one

She has made me know the true meaning of every season in life. Love, respect and joy should be a

Rex, Oedipus meets the Aristotelian definition of a tragic hero as divine fate and tragic flaws lead

fate. The components of a perfect tragedyas defined in Aristotle s Poetics are at the center of

Oedipus s anger highlights one of his tragic flaws. Oedipus first outburst of anger was when he
killed his father, reminiscing, I became angry and struck the coachman, and then I killed them all
(Sophocles 880 8). Oedipus s anger continued throughout the play, especially when others inform
him about his fate. When Teiresias accuses Oedipus of killing his father, Oedipus lashes out,
saying And who has taught you truth? Not your profession surely! (Sophocles 388 389). This
response is an attack on Teiresias and the principle of prophecies, as Oedipus exclaims Teirsias s
profession has not taught him truth. Oedipus angrily placed blame on his closest friend for his
doomful fate, Creon, blaming, No, certainly; kill you, not banish you (Sophocles 687). Oedipus
s impulsive and extravagant anger make his angry characteristic all the more harmful. Oedipus s
anger eventually turned on himself, as he blinds himself in reaction to his foolishness and
ignorance. Another aspect of Oedipus s tragic flaw is his hubris. Initially it is clear Oedipus
believes he is Thebe s last hope, stating I Oedipus whom all men call the Great (Sophocles 6).
Oedipus proves his hubris as he stands center stage during almost the entire play. Creon tries to
usher Oedipus off stage and tell him of the news, although Oedipus replies Speak it to all: the grief

My First-Grade Year Of School
It was fall of my first grade year of school. The group of approximately fifteen of us gathered
together for Meghan Zimmerman s birthday party at Cordova lanes Bowling Alley. Each of us
were enthusiastically, waiting for our turn to bowl. No one may know if everyone s failure to
follow directions caused me to bust open my chin but it certainly was a factor. In the events that
followed I learned that if one fails to follow instructions the consequences can fall on those who do
obey.
Everyone had already been there for about an hour but the excitement still beamed in their eyes. As
I sat there impatiently waiting for my turn I heard the clashing of each pin of each lane as the pins
fell to ground. CLANK, CLANK, CLANK went each of the pins. I glanced over towards my lane
and noticed everyone placing their drinks on the light tinted wooded floor causing there to be
rings of damp condensation everywhere. I thought nothing of the drinks at first but it was only five
minutes later when one of employees came over. Please tell your children to put their drinks on the
tables, I overheard her say to one of the mothers.
I heard the polite voices of one of the moms telling the group to remove the drinks from the area. I
fully anticipated everyone else to listen to the adults, but this is was certainly not the case. What
had made everything even worst was the parents themselves seemed to not care. This was such an
atrocity. Confusion and anger swelled in me like a bubbling solution

How Tolkien s The Silmarillion Is Rife With Battles...
Tolkien s The Silmarillion is rife with battles between good and evil, these diametric ideals are
what make this fantasy mockup of the bible a compelling and interesting book. The relationships
between different peoples and the tension those relationships create are fueled by the binary
opposition of what is considered good and evil. Tolkien was a literary scholar and payed abrupt
attention to the appellation of places and people and the affect the supposed locution of the cultural

Aule, one of the Valar, opposes Iluvatar by attempting to create life, same as Melkor. Unlike
Melkor, Aule is humble and begs forgiveness, willing to destroy his creation to regain to good
graces of Iluvatar. As described in AinulindalГ« Aule s are an imitation of IlГ
єvatar s, Tolkien
makes it clear that only IlГєvatar can create true life, perhaps best described here as beings with
souls. (Fry, 2015) The Dwarves exist only as projections of their maker until IlГєvatar gives them
independent thought, in this action he both forgives Aule for his defiance and adopts the dwarves
as his own. IlГєvatar s accepting and tolerating the making of the Dwarves closes the short term
binary opposition of the two creators, so both Aule and his creations are once again, a singular
structure which stands with what is considered good. Iluvatar, however, does not allow the
dwarves to interfere with his vision for whom the first born should be so the Dwarves are put to
sleep under mountains until after the Elves awaken. The start of the third book, the Quenta

Melkor to flee, taking clouds and darkness with him. As easy as it is to imagine a

Crime Is A Factor Of Life Essay
Crime is a factor of life that is all around us at any given moment. It has become more prevalent
in our society over the past few decades and occurs every single day all over the country. There
are many reasons and factors that influence a person to engage in criminal activity. If you really
think about it, everyone at some point in their life has probably committed a crimeeven if it is just a
simple one like running a red light or drinking before being of legal age. Some people may never
get caught committing a crime while others are caught and have to ultimately pay the consequences.
The individual who committed the crime may not even be a bad person. They may have done it
because they felt like that s what they had to do in order to survive or to help their families in a
time of need. That s why researchers are always coming up with different theories and
hypotheses to figure out why crimes are committed and what leads people to engage in certain
types of crime like selling drugs or prostitution. A criminologist, Robert Agnew, talks about the
different strains on a person that could result in them engaging in criminal activity. It helps
explain why some people do the things that they do because of different characteristics of their
lives. Depending on how a person is raised and the environment they live in could lead to some
sort of deviant behavior most likely in their adolescent years. If a person feels like they are

First Person Narration In The Stranger By Albert Camus
Through thoughts and conversation, one can learn a great deal about the ideals and opinions of a
person. This is also the case in literature, as authors may write in first person to allow the reader
to receive a better idea of who the main character is and what they stand for. Authors can also use
such a strategy to express their personal opinions on a topic in the text through the thoughts and
actions of their main character. Such is the case of Albert Camus and his main character in The
Stranger, Meursault. Through first person narration, Camus is able to use Meursault as a vehicle to
bring focus to religious systems in the 1940s Algerian society depicted in the novel. Two of the ways
in which the reader can see Camus views on religion in his novel is through Meursault s interactions
with other characters and through the personal thoughts of Meursault. One way in which Camus
uses first person narration to bring focus to religious systems and constructs in the 1940s Algerian
society presented in The Stranger is through Meursault s interactions with other characters on the
premise of religion. Through these interactions, Camus is able to present an idea or situation

What Are The Top Four Mainstream Philosophical Views On...
Micah Sample
Prof. Henson
English 120
Due: 4/04/2016
What are the top four mainstream philosophical views on human purpose, and what logical flaws
might they include, if any?
Human beings are perhaps the most complex of all living organisms, embodying properties which
are unprecedented in the animal kingdom. Other creatures behave according to nature s dictum, but
mankind utilizes nature in order to serve higher purposes. The question of what sets mankind apart
is easily answered: man is a philosopher, who attempts to discover meaning in what would
otherwise be a completely mechanistic universe. Humanity is hardwired with a belief in its own
purpose. There are three mainstream views that atheists resort to on the topic of man s purpose:
namely, existentialism, absurdism, and nihilism however, these philosophies are riddled with
logical flaws. On the theistic spectrum, Christianity provides an alternative response, which solves
the problems introduced by the atheist worldviews.
As stated earlier, there are those who resort to existentialism. While this broad line of thinking is
not totally incompatible with a theistic worldview, the specifically secularized form of
existentialism does remove the need for divinely orchestrated purpose. It does so by placing the
value of humanity in its own freedom. Jean Paul Sartre said that Man is condemned to be free;
because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does (Sartre, Being and

The Project Heart Healing Ceremony And Film
The Project Heart healing ceremony and film can be described by thinking of it in terms of story
types. Annette Simmons suggests various story types that storytellers may choose from when
attempting to lead or influence others. Simmons discusses one, the Vision story, in which the
storyteller uses sensory detail to express an emotional appeal for a future outcome (14 17). Thus,
Leslie asks residential school survivors to share their life experiences with members of their
community. She does this because she has a vision that when members of the audience honor the
journey of survivors by hearing their testimony, it will help all members of her community to heal.

She also uses her public platform to teach that sharing stories and having them acknowledged
and honored leads to a path for healing for those whose voices have been historically silenced.
Another leadership story type that Simmons discusses is the Values in Action story, which
brings values to life by respectfully instilling [them] in a way that keeps people thinking for
themselves (20). Leslie asks the schoolchildren to imagine what it must have been like to be
raised in an Indian residential school, stating that the children are the next generation who will
walk forward with values and ideals that will change our world and make it a better place
(Project Heart). The adults who participated in the ceremony (in addition to those who view it
through film) must also face the same question, as well as face their individual and collective
values as demonstrated by their response to her poignant inquiry. That is to say, if adults see
children acting according to a certain ethical standard, the adults are also likely to choose to follow
with their own ethical actions. Finally, Simmons discusses what she names I know what you are

disarming any potential resistance to influence (23 26). Leslie tells the children at the beginning
and the end of the Project Heart film that she teaches history from multiple perspectives because

Public Service Announcement Analysis
Starting a new school year as a tenth grader, I thought there wouldn t be any big changes but
there was, and there is. My classes became slightly more difficult than they were last year, as a

effort is needed but it s just so simple to do. All of my classes balance between those two, being
challenging at times but also being simple. I, like every other student was enrolled into a World

that was complete, our second task was to create and design a storyboard for our actual PSA. My

Since the Industrial Revolution the problem with transportation hasn t changed, it s altered a bit but

Synopsis Of The Summer Spring
Seasons
That time of year is here. The weather has begun to change from the blistering July heat, to the
cool evenings of September. There is no longer the need to flip channel after channel on the
television to find something to watch since it is finally football season. The vivid green leaves
are beginning to fade out and become different shades of brown, orange, and red. Leaves begin to
fall from the upmost branches of the tree and float their way down to the ground. Kids gather
around to collect the fallen leaves and jump into the enormous pile created by doing the chore of
raking. Taste buds begin to water as the thought of warm cider and sweet pumpkin pie comes into
the picture. The ladies begin to get out their favorite sweater, pair of jeans, and boots to wear out
as the cooler nights approach. While every season has its own sense of wonder, autumn is the best
one of them all.
The paramount of this season is the plethora of activities that go on in a short amount of time.
From the end of August to November, you can almost catch every high school kid on a Friday night
in a stadium decked out in latest costume related to that game s student section theme. Whether it s
a tacky tourist uniform or your American patriot, you can always see an eye catching outfit. After
their years of experience of high school football, the real test of dedication comes to the Saturday
games. Tailgating before the games is the excitement that brings everyone together. Leading into late

Britain s Debate Over Britain
Britain is one of only a few countries in the world without a codified constitution and has long been
a topic of conversation within parliament itself and the media. There are many published articles
which argue the need for Britain to adopt a written constitution, whilst others argue that Britain is
best left with what many believe as a successful, partially codified constitution. This essay seeks to
investigate as to whether Britain would benefit from a fully codified singular document, similar to
those found in other countries or whether Britain is at an advantage by keeping it s existing
documents, some of which are in statuteform and some not, to allow for flexibility in the future.
Although Britain lacks a single codified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within Britain any law can be changed by the Governing party and this highlights the instability of
our current, partially codified constitution which is not entrenched in law. It has long been debated
as to whether Britain actually has an elected dictatorship as there is no ultimate document of overall
authority which defines the powers between executive, legislature and
judiciary(www.parliament.uk, 2014). Once a political party have been elected we as citizens have
to trust that they will abide by their promises given in manifestos and continue to listen to the
general public s wants and needs.
In 2014, Lord Neuberger, the president of the Supreme Court of the UK, caused controversy by
declaring that there are powerful arguments for Britain to adopt a written constitution. Stating that
although Britain has managed without one so far, contemporary society is such that one must
surely be adopted to secure not only the citizens rights but those within parliament. Neuberger
referred to our position within the European Union and claimed that adopting a written constitution
would help the UK overturn rulings from the European Court of Human Rights, believing that such
a constitution would have supremacy over decisions made within the Human Rights Court in
Strasbourg (Owen 2014). Britain is the only country within Europe without a legally binding
document on Human Rights and

Dance Persuasive Essay
As a former competitive dancer, I know that the best part about dance for children is also the
worst part for the parents: costumes. For the kids, costumes are exciting and are a symbol of all
the hard work they put into their training this year. However, for parents, costumes are a financial
burden added on after paying a years worth of tutition costs.
What if I told you there was a way for you to please both your students and their parents and get
high quality costumes at affordable prices? It sounds to good to be true, but that s exactly what we
do at Costumes On Call.
Background, Problem, and Purpose Costumes On Call is a dance costume rental system that allows
you to rent the latest costumes for your dancers at a fraction of their retail value. For the past three
years, we have been provide studio owners, like yourself, with a new choice when selecting
costumes for performances.
We understand that buying costumes can be a tedious task for you as the studio owner. Not
only does it take time to sift through costume catalogues to find a piece that speaks to your
dances vision, but you also need to consider the costs. Costumes can cost upwards of $75 each,
which isn t too steep of a charge for a child in one class. However, most children take anywhere
from 2 to 10 classes a year. That does not include dancers who are part of the competition team,
who can perform an additional 10 dances per season. The worst part about costumes isn t their lofty

Analysis Of The Umar Abdullah Johnson Theory Of Black Male...
The Umar Abdullah Johnson Theory of Black Male Alienation posits that a five stage cycle of
institutional repression exists that has effectively sent more black men to jail than it has to
college. Any attempt to reverse this war against America s most misunderstood population
begins with a firm analysis of the process and its origins in boyhood. Americans, including
Blacks, have become so desensitized to the pain of Black boys and so expectant of their failures
that their pain is often overlooked and their achievements treated like occasional glitches in a
system that has successfully made Black boys a permanent underclass in this country. But the
color of a Negro s skin makes him easily recognizable, makes him suspect, converts him into a
defenseless target (Richard Wright, Black Boy) Mis education often begins at birth. The average
first day of life for Black children is when they become subjected to self hatred and self hating
messages about themselves. They re often getting messages about themselves that is directly or
indirectly coming from the white culture. From the first day they are brought into this world, the
mis education and the self hatred towards our babies starts right then and there. It starts to
increase in preschool because in preschool, for those that decide to send their child to preschool,
this will be the first time that the Black boy comes face to face with the School guidelines of the
American social order where he is expected to preform to

Grade Hyperinflation
What if everyone in the U.S. had an A+ grade and a 4.0 GPA? Grade Inflation is a serious matter
that teachers, parents, administrators, and school board members all around the nation think and
argue about. Grade inflation is when ...teachers [are] paying a higher and higher price for the same
product from students. (Hunt, preface XV) The argument about gradeinflation is very recent,
starting around the late 20th century. I found that grade inflation, while waning beginning in the
mid 1970s, resurfaced in the mid 1980s. (Stuart, 2) While grade inflation is rising each year,
people are trying to make solutions for it. There are many other solutions to lower the A+ grade
and 4.0 GPA that people already tried to do or the solutions that are just... Show more content on

There are very simple remedies that faculty could do to prevent grade inflation. Members in
Faculty could review their grading systems to block grade inflation because the teacher s
decisions affect grade inflation by a lot (Jonathan, 1). Talking to the administrative people at
schools about grade inflation could prevent it too (Jonathan, 1). Another way is for teachers too
publicly announce their grading practices for the public to see (Jonathan, 1). There are more
complicated remedies that faculty could do too. The best solution that an individual teacher
made was at Harvard by Harvey Mansfield, a Harvard professor (Russell, 1). Harvey Mansfield s
grading practices that he had done was giving his students two grades. The first grade was the
grade that Harvard gave or the inflated grade and the other was the grade that Mr. Mansfield gave
to his students, what he thought they should have got for the grade, which was the non inflated
grade (Russell, 2). Another individual man that thought about a way to prevent grade inflation is
Valen Johnson. Valen Johnson s remedy is filled with complicated detail, it is a remedy that
replaces the GPA of a student and combines it with the student s classmate s grades (Lester, 86).
The last remedy from an individual is that the teachers only concentrate on teaching and make other
people grade the students homework (Lester, 87). So in short, the

how they want to react and whether they take action C or D. The best outcome can only be
achieved with a backward induction as a result of evaluating the results first and afterwards

Disadvantages Of Maid In Mumbai
Maids in Mumbai Splurge or Necessity! In a city like it
Time is money, that s how the famous saying goes. Isn t it wise choosing to spend money instead
of time in the endeavor to keep your home clean and organized? `Hell yes! Many would agree to
that. Mumbai is abundant of people with fast paced lifestyles, hectic schedules and lack of free
time which is why managing house chores without domestic help is a far fetched reality. Also, a
notion has been doing the rounds for quite some time that women are more at the mercy of maids
than they are for their professional or personal chiefs. Admit it or not, but this belief is undeniable
to a reasonable extent.
Being a parent To the busy moms and occupied dads out there, all of you will attest to the fact
having a maid to serve your needs, makes the daily strains of parenting a bit more bearable. While
the handmaiden ensures your house remains in order, you better spend time taking care of the child
whose deeds and escapades turn your stone built house into a livable home.

What Are The Stereotypes In The Bean Trees
In the two novels, The Bean Trees and I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, authors Barbara
Kingsolver and Maya Angelou use both of their stories to challenge the stereotypes that society
has put in place about the idea of femininity and the gender roles of men and women. In The
Bean Trees, protagonist Taylor Greer unexpectedly becomes a mother when she cares for a
Native American child given to her on the side of a road, however, she does not behave like
society s version of a maternal figure in that she takes on roles that would be likely belong to a
man. On the other hand, in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou writes an autobiography
and she portrays her own older brother, Bailey, as a more feminine character, although he is
expected to have manly qualities as an African American male. Because of the high standards and
stereotypes that our society has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

we can break the conventional stereotypes of our culture and live based off of our own personal

though we see a different picture of a mother portrayed in The Bean Trees. After a few months of

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi And The Congress Of Gandhi
On October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born into a religious Hindu family. His
father, Karamchand Gandhi, already had previous sons and daughters from his four other wives,
with Gandhi marking his last son. As a child, Gandhi showed great interests towards family
devotion and sacrifices. He would often slip away from his overly crowded house and into shops on
the street. Because of Hindu law, Gandhi was wed to Kasturbai Makanji at age 13 14.
Eventually, as Gandhi became older and more mature, he started showing passion towards his
studies. He was offered a one year contract for working in a South African Indian law firm. On his
way to Pretoria, a white man objected to the fact that Gandhi was traveling first class. Gandhi
refused to move, claiming he had a first class ticket. He was quickly thrown off the train and was
forced to spend a night on the station platform. After a successful and fulfilling year as a lawyer,
Gandhi s trip to South Africa was almost at an end. At his farewell party, Gandhi spotted a column
in the newspaper stating that the government in Natal was preparing to seize Indian s right to vote.
Disheartened by India s current condition, Gandhi decided to stay longer and gather signatures for a
petition against the discriminatory actions. Within two weeks, the pacifist collected ten thousand
signatures and founded the Indian Congress of Natal. Believing that written words would make a
bigger impact, Gandhi published two pamphlets that spoke out against the new government
movement. Without delay, Gandhi promptly returned to India to fetch his family. In 1906, Gandhi
attempted a mass nonviolent civil disobedience campaign to counteract the South African Transvaal
governments new restrictions and regulations. He dubbed it Satyagraha, meaning firmness in truth ,
but his attempts failed and he was promptly arrested. His actions, however, left a lasting impact,
leading to multiple rebellions and protest. In 1913, Gandhi made a negotiated a compromise with
General Jan Christian Smuts, which ended poll taxes for Indians and recognized non Christian
marriages. Later on in his life, Gandhi supervised many other nonviolent acts of rebellions, such as
mass marches and boycotts.

Synthesis Essay On Gold
Once the gold ore is no longer able to be mined economically, all of the salvageable equipment is
removed and the reclamation process begins. The goal of reclamation is to return the mine site to
its pre mining state while minimizing erosion, and protecting the public and surrounding wildlife.
Portals that lead to the underground workings are sealed, but should have ports to monitor if there
is a buildup of toxic gases or water. Reclaiming the surface area where the mine office, bathhouse,
and processing facilities were located starts with demolition of the buildings and removal of
equipment and materials. A special requirement for reclaiming gold processing plants is to rinse
and neutralize any residual leaching solution from the solution... Show more content on

Paper money in the United States and other countries used to be backed by gold which became
known as the gold standard . This meant that a person could trade paper money for its equivalent
value in gold bars. Eventually it became too difficult to maintain this standard so it is not
currently used by any country. One of the most well known uses for gold is in jewelry which
makes up about 78 percent of gold consumption. Gold is desirable for jewelry manufacturers
because of its luster, resistance to tarnish, and ability to be shaped easily. However, pure (24
karat) gold is too soft to withstand the stress put on most jewelry, so it is often made into an alloy
with silver or copper to make it harder. Another use of gold is in electronics and computers due to
its high conductivity. Connectors, soldered joints, and connecting strips have low voltages running
through them that are easily interrupted by corrosion, which is why gold s resistance to tarnish
makes it perfect for these applications. In the medical industry, gold alloys are used for crowns,
fillings, and other orthodontic appliances because it is chemically inert and non allergenic. Also,
radioactive gold isotopes can serve as a radiation source when treating certain cancers. Interestingly,
small amounts of gold can be injected into the eyelids of a person that suffers from lagophthalmos,
which is the inability to completely close their eyes (King,

The Importance Of The Japanese American Internment
My priority was to try to show the American people that we are just as loyal as anybody else. We
need to prove our loyalty because the reason why we re in camp is because the American public
says that we are enemy aliens. Were loyalty to Japan and so forth. And that perceptions got to be
changed. Susumu Satow. This statement is very powerful stating we need to show the American
people we are not your enemies but your friends. Do not be scared of us just because we are
Japanese. Prejudice played a large role in the Japanese American relocation because of the 1894
treaty, conflict over China, and the Russian Japanese War. The Japanese were never awarded for
their bravery going into those internment camps. They were spit on and called names. Imagine
being in that situation of hatred. Japanese American relationships were strained (during the)years
before World War II. One of the reasons the United Statesand Japan did not get along was in 1894
when a treaty was signed allowing Japanese Immigrants into America allowing them the same
rights as US citizens. In 1906, this treaty was violated when the San Francisco Board of Education
passed a provision sending Japanese and Chinese children to segregated schools. This movement
angered the Japanese Government because it violated the treaty. In late 1907 and into early 1908,
letters were exchanged between the United States and Japan known as the Gentlemen s agreement .
The Gentlemen s Agreement was for the US government to

I think the interview during admission is quite difficult because it is an important method to

surgical history, allergic, body condition. Moreover, as some of the patient might not tell the true
information as they might be nervous when admit to the hospital. The most difficult thing during
the nursing interview during admission is spelling the surgical the name and some of the terms for
the medical history. Therefore, it is important for me to improve the spelling of the medical and

  • 2. Plaw 210 Memorandum of Law Essay To: Professor Susan Patrick From: Virginia M Garman Date: March 4, 2013 Re: Memorandum of Law; Rough Draft QUESTION PRESENTED You asked me to answer the question, Are the Virginia courts likely to follow the unconscionability doctrine as set out and applied in Jones v. Star Credit Corp. , based on the opinion and rulings of previous similar cases. SHORT ANSWER The Virginia courts are highly likely to follow the unconscionability doctrine that has been set out and applied in Jones v. Star Credit Corp. The Jones purchased a freezer unit from Star Credit Corp for $900, three times the retail value of the unit. In this case, the court held that the contract between parties was unconscionable because it violated [HN2] U.C.C. В§ 2 302... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Derby v. • 3. U.s. Dollar Generals ( Dgs ) Views from the DG Dollar Generals (DGs) are popping up left and right. DGs are now in our backwards challenging all of our local businesses. Working at the DGs is not a hard job once the store is stocked and ready for business. I used to see DGs as where sorry people worked because overtime, people get lazy and let the DGs go and make it look almost impossible to get it back looking nice again. But that was until my buddies and I started working at the new DG in Ino. We are all there to make money to have for gas, keep girlfriends happy (which seems almost impossible to do), and other expenses. We are determined to keep our DG up and running great with no dirty isles, no items stuck behind others, and no rude employees. DollarGeneral is the place to shop because it has a goodtrained staff, a friendly clean environment, and cheaper products to bring in more business. A store s staff is like columns, holding up the stores foundation from mayhem. To be part of a staff anywhere you have to be determined for whatever before you walk into the doors of that particular business to work for. If you have a store with employees working for you and they are not trained, they won t have a clue what tasks they are there to complete. Trained employees is a key to success in a business. The manager of the DG is in control of hiring workers who she sees will be a good worker for the business. It s not hard to comprehend the basic needs of a good employee. A good employee help s a ... • 4. The Legality of the NSA Essay After the disclosures by Edward Snowden turned a critical eye to the NSA many people questioned the legality of the acts. The NSA claimed that their work was legal and had prevented many terrorist plots. However, evidence of only four plots was ever found. Even if the acts were founded in law, they still angered large numbers of citizens. Many citizens do not care if the spying is legal, believing that it is morally wrong. Governmentsurveillanceorganizations have grown to be extremely powerful and are capable of accessing large swaths of personal information; these abilities intrude into the private lives of citizens and need to be curtailed. The NSA collects information via various means. Some information is taken during transmission ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this information at hand, consumer trust in the companies dropped significantly; most notably overseas where the NSA has fewer restrictions on what information could not be taken about individuals. This is just a dragnet, a collection of basic information on everybody. If they have a suspect, then they are more specific in their search. In a search for possible associates that might provide information about possible plots the NSA can search three jumps , or degrees of separation, from the target. This means that a friend of a friend of a friend of a target can be spied on more so than the usual dragnet approach. This may seem like a relatively small quantity at first, but considering that the average Facebook user has 190 friends, 16% of which are friends with each other, from one subject it is possible that over 5 million individuals can be spied on from one individual. Even a subject having just one friend or associate can result in over 26 thousand individuals being the subject of spying efforts. Of course, there are more ways to retrieve personal information than just phone records and Facebook profiles. The NSA can access any and all e mail transmissions, the audio and video from services such as Skype, and documents saved on cloud storage services. Cars often have black boxes which record information such as speed, acceleration, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, the selection efficiency and purity as a function of each step are shown schematically in~cref{fig:EvtSel_SelEffPur}. The BDT cut massively enhanced the purity of the positron selection as shown in~cref{fig:EvtSel_EffPurParticleNue}. Although the veto cuts reduced the positrons efficiency and purity, they have increased the purity and efficiency of the electron antineutrino selection by removing the positrons coming from the gammas as shown in~cref{fig:EvtSel_EffPurNueSimpletopo}. begin{figure}[H] begin{subfigure}[b]{0.45textwidth} begin{center} includegraphics[scale =... • 7. The Characteristics Of A Serial Killer And The Zodiac Killer In this paper, I will describe who the Zodiac Killer was, but also how a serial killer is different from a normal homicide suspect. In addition, I will explain if the Zodiac Killer had specific criteria when he selected his victims and whether a forensic psychologist or criminal profiler provided input in this case. Finally, I will express my thoughts on why the Zodiac Killerwas never captured and what else, if anything could have been done to help find the infamous Zodiac Killer. In order to explain how a serial killer is different than a normal homicide is to first understand how a serial killer operates. On December 20, 1968, in the sleepy town of Benecia, California the murders of a teenage couple were discovered in an area called lover s lane off Lake Herman Road. The victims, Betty Lou Jensen and David Faraday, were shot while parked in their car around 11:10pm. Investigators collected shell casings and other evidence from the scene, but after several months they still did not have any witnesses or suspects. Then on July 4, 1969, a second young couple were attacked by a gunman while in their car parked at Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo; about 10 miles northwest of the Benecia murders. The female victim Darlene Ferrin died from her wounds, but Michael Mageau who was shot in the leg, neck and jaw survived and was able to tell the police what had occurred, along with a brief description of the gunman. • 8. Maust-Mohl s Argument Analysis The tourism industry regarding animal encounters can harm the animal such as physical beatings, malnourishment and mental trauma. Hediger agrees when he writes, Trifling disturbances may occur, for the simple reason that certain innate behavior pattern, adapted for life in freedom, cannot develop properly under conditions of captivity, or be brought into play, through lack of appropriate stimuli (pg. 29). Basically, Hediger is warning us that putting animals in captivity for our personal pleasure can harm them in many ways besides physically. Society needs to pay attention to the animalsoverall wellbeing to make sure they are treated ethically and with morality. Writing in the journal, Social and Cultural Geography, Rebekah Fox states that, we need to recognize the continuity of all life forms and value beings for their own intrinsic worth, autonomy and difference rather than on the basis of their similarity to humans (pg. 527). In other words, Fox believes that humans see animals as having both humanistic qualities and having their natural instinct. However, we need to see all animals as having their own worth, and that no species are the same. Although Fox does not say so directly, she apparently assumes that humans create these humanistic qualities of the animal they are spending time with, with their own qualities. Fox agrees when she writes, readings tend to essentialize animal actions into supposed biological behavior, such as the pack instinct in dogs, and ignore animal agency and individual interaction (pg. 529). The essence of Foxs argument is that some literature focuses on the animal s natural instinct instead of the empathy and individualistic traits they have. While some people rarely admit as much similarity we have with animals, they often take for granted that humans have the same natural instinct to want to protect their young and defend against predators. Realizing the similarities humans have with animals the public needs to be more concerned about the tourism industry and how it greatly affects animals lives. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before this class, I didn t care about the writing because my high school teachers didn t care about my writing, as long as I turn a paper, I would be fine. Now, at the end of my Comp 2 class, I can assure I have improved my skills. From simply using MLA 8th format to writingan ethnography, this class has helped me get a more advanced writing style to accomplish the requirements that higher educationrequires. First of all, before this class my MLA formatting was wrong. For example, instead of writing Prof. Webb I wrote Pamela Webb, another example is the class, instead of writing ENGL 1231 201 I wrote ENGL 1231, Section 201. I made these mistakes because instead of asking a professor for help, I thought to ask Google was good enough to get the knowledge and skills to write a good essay. • 11. The Noise Of Sound Waves Through Instruments And How The... Introduction Music takes up a large part of our lives, most people listen to it almost every day. It is one of the only medians between People from completely different walks of life, connecting us all through major symphonies or just beautifully simple chords. Though many people enjoy the emotion filled sound that travel to their eardrums, most do not know exactly why. People also do not know why they dislike some musical sounds. I am very curious as to why there are melodies considered good or bad. Just as most people, I listen to music on the daily basis. I am also invested in learning how to play the electric guitar which influences my interest in this topic greatly. I want to find out why exactly different chords are considered either harmonic or discordant by looking into the consonance and dissonance in music. In my research on this topic, I will focus mainly on the emission of sound waves through instruments and how the notes come together. Sound travels as a transverse wave which means it takes the same shape as sine waves, in mathematics. These waves are used to produce different volume, frequencies, and timbre in instruments. In music, sound waves have different frequencies which change the in pitch of notes, and different amplitudes, which change the volume of notes. Since I will be focusing on the changing of frequencies in notes, I will represent these changes by modeling different chords, and notes by using sine waves. This will allow me to demonstrate how ... • 16. Muscle Protein Synthesis Essay Introduction: In recent years, interest has sparked the health industry to research protein consumption after exercise to optimise muscle growth. Muscle Protein Synthesis (MPS) is not only an appealing topic for bodybuilders, it is also beneficial to those over 60 years of age who may have experienced muscle mass loss over time. A decrease in muscle mass does not only lead to a decrease in overall strength but also makes daily movement severely painful, leading to a poor quality of life. All individuals can benefit from increasing muscle protein synthesis via an increased protein intake after resistance training. This will aid in maintaining muscle mass, strength and overall health (Wolfe, 2012). Review of Research Studies: Increasing muscle protein synthesis is crucial for the health of individuals over the age of 60. A study conducted by Dr. Ryan Andrews shows that a change in daily protein intake can impact the building of lean muscle mass. Participants between the age of 60 and 69 underwent a 12 week resistance training regime and were given a post exercise protein drink after each session. Results showed a substantial increase in lean muscle mass over the 12 week program for both males and females. Nevertheless, results indicated those that had consumed a daily diet high in protein had comparable increases of lean muscle mass as those with a daily diet low in protein. This indicates that it did not matter how much protein was consumed daily, but the post exercise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 17. Electrolyte Concentration Experiment The Scientist s topic is about electrolyte concentration in different types of drinks. The question the scientist is trying to answer is Which drink has the highest lectrolyte concentration for replenishing more electrolytes during and after physical activity? . The independent variable is the type of drink, the dependet variable is the conductance (measured in amps) and the control variable is water. To find out which drink will have the highest concentration of electrolyes, the scientist would have to measure the conductance of the beverages. To do this, a multimeter along with a 9 volt battery is needed to measure the current of the beverages. The multimeter is used to find the current of an object. Specifically, the ammeter would be needed to measure the current, which is then used to find the overall conductance. You will use it to measure conductance, which is proportional to the electrolyte concentration. Because electrolytes are charged particles that carry current in solution, the conductance of the solution depends on the concentration of the electrolytes. (David Whyte, 2016). Finding the conductance of a substance is done by dividing the substance s current by the voltage. In this case, the voltage would be from the 9 volt battery used in the experiment. ... The idea of commissioning an enormous fresco, the largest ever painted in that century, depicting the Last Judgment, was probably suggested to Clement VII by the traumatic events that were undermining the unity of Christians at the time. After the pope s death, on September 25, 1534, and only two days after Michelangelo s arrival in Rome, his successor, Paul III Farnese confirmed the commission to Michelangelo, and in April 1535, scaffolding was put up in front of the altar wall. Even before its official unveiling, the Judgment became the target of violent criticisms of a moral character. All that had happened in the church in the years that preceded the Judgment, including the Reformation and the Sack of Rome, had a direct influence on the work s conception: painted on the altar wall, the Last Judgment was to represent humanity face to face with salvation. The first impression I have when faced with the Last Judgment is that of a truly universal event, at the center of which stands the powerful figure of Christ. Please tell your children to put their drinks on the tables, I overheard her say to one of the mothers. I heard the polite voices of one of the moms telling the group to remove the drinks from the area. I fully anticipated everyone else to listen to the adults, but this is was certainly not the case. What had made everything even worst was the parents themselves seemed to not care. This was such an atrocity. Confusion and anger swelled in me like a bubbling solution ... IlГєvatar s accepting and tolerating the making of the Dwarves closes the short term binary opposition of the two creators, so both Aule and his creations are once again, a singular structure which stands with what is considered good. Iluvatar, however, does not allow the dwarves to interfere with his vision for whom the first born should be so the Dwarves are put to sleep under mountains until after the Elves awaken. • 32. Crime Is A Factor Of Life Essay Crime is a factor of life that is all around us at any given moment. It has become more prevalent in our society over the past few decades and occurs every single day all over the country. There are many reasons and factors that influence a person to engage in criminal activity. If you really think about it, everyone at some point in their life has probably committed a crimeeven if it is just a simple one like running a red light or drinking before being of legal age. Some people may never get caught committing a crime while others are caught and have to ultimately pay the consequences. The individual who committed the crime may not even be a bad person. They may have done it because they felt like that s what they had to do in order to survive or to help their families in a time of need. That s why researchers are always coming up with different theories and hypotheses to figure out why crimes are committed and what leads people to engage in certain types of crime like selling drugs or prostitution. A criminologist, Robert Agnew, talks about the different strains on a person that could result in them engaging in criminal activity. It helps explain why some people do the things that they do because of different characteristics of their lives. Depending on how a person is raised and the environment they live in could lead to some sort of deviant behavior most likely in their adolescent years. This is also the case in literature, as authors may write in first person to allow the reader to receive a better idea of who the main character is and what they stand for. Authors can also use such a strategy to express their personal opinions on a topic in the text through the thoughts and actions of their main character. Such is the case of Albert Camus and his main character in The Stranger, Meursault. Through first person narration, Camus is able to use Meursault as a vehicle to bring focus to religious systems in the 1940s Algerian society depicted in the novel. Two of the ways in which the reader can see Camus views on religion in his novel is through Meursault s interactions with other characters and through the personal thoughts of Meursault. One way in which Camus uses first person narration to bring focus to religious systems and constructs in the 1940s Algerian society presented in The Stranger is through Meursault s interactions with other characters on the premise of religion. • 34. What Are The Top Four Mainstream Philosophical Views On... Micah Sample Prof. Henson English 120 Due: 4/04/2016 What are the top four mainstream philosophical views on human purpose, and what logical flaws might they include, if any? Human beings are perhaps the most complex of all living organisms, embodying properties which are unprecedented in the animal kingdom. Other creatures behave according to nature s dictum, but mankind utilizes nature in order to serve higher purposes. The question of what sets mankind apart is easily answered: man is a philosopher, who attempts to discover meaning in what would otherwise be a completely mechanistic universe. Humanity is hardwired with a belief in its own purpose. There are three mainstream views that atheists resort to on the topic of man s purpose: namely, existentialism, absurdism, and nihilism however, these philosophies are riddled with logical flaws. On the theistic spectrum, Christianity provides an alternative response, which solves the problems introduced by the atheist worldviews. As stated earlier, there are those who resort to existentialism. While this broad line of thinking is not totally incompatible with a theistic worldview, the specifically secularized form of existentialism does remove the need for divinely orchestrated purpose. It does so by placing the value of humanity in its own freedom. Jean Paul Sartre said that Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does (Sartre, Being and Nothingness, an Essay on ... Thus, Leslie asks residential school survivors to share their life experiences with members of their community. Leslie asks the schoolchildren to imagine what it must have been like to be raised in an Indian residential school, stating that the children are the next generation who will walk forward with values and ideals that will change our world and make it a better place (Project Heart). The adults who participated in the ceremony (in addition to those who view it through film) must also face the same question, as well as face their individual and collective values as demonstrated by their response to her poignant inquiry. That is to say, if adults see children acting according to a certain ethical standard, the adults are also likely to choose to follow with their own ethical actions. Finally, Simmons discusses what she names I know what you are thinking stories, in which the storyteller attempts to name the audience s objections as a way of disarming any potential resistance to influence (23 26). After a few months of living with her newly received baby girl, Taylor moves in with a woman named Lou Ann, who is a single mother just like her. • 50. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi And The Congress Of Gandhi On October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born into a religious Hindu family. His father, Karamchand Gandhi, already had previous sons and daughters from his four other wives, with Gandhi marking his last son. As a child, Gandhi showed great interests towards family devotion and sacrifices. He would often slip away from his overly crowded house and into shops on the street. Because of Hindu law, Gandhi was wed to Kasturbai Makanji at age 13 14. Eventually, as Gandhi became older and more mature, he started showing passion towards his studies. He was offered a one year contract for working in a South African Indian law firm. On his way to Pretoria, a white man objected to the fact that Gandhi was traveling first class. Gandhi refused to move, claiming he had a first class ticket. He was quickly thrown off the train and was forced to spend a night on the station platform. After a successful and fulfilling year as a lawyer, Gandhi s trip to South Africa was almost at an end. At his farewell party, Gandhi spotted a column in the newspaper stating that the government in Natal was preparing to seize Indian s right to vote. Disheartened by India s current condition, Gandhi decided to stay longer and gather signatures for a petition against the discriminatory actions. Within two weeks, the pacifist collected ten thousand signatures and founded the Indian Congress of Natal. Believing that written words would make a bigger impact, Gandhi published two pamphlets that spoke out against the new government movement. Without delay, Gandhi promptly returned to India to fetch his family. In 1906, Gandhi attempted a mass nonviolent civil disobedience campaign to counteract the South African Transvaal governments new restrictions and regulations. He dubbed it Satyagraha, meaning firmness in truth , but his attempts failed and he was promptly arrested. His actions, however, left a lasting impact, leading to multiple rebellions and protest. In 1913, Gandhi made a negotiated a compromise with General Jan Christian Smuts, which ended poll taxes for Indians and recognized non Christian marriages. Later on in his life, Gandhi supervised many other nonviolent acts of rebellions, such as mass marches and boycotts. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Synthesis Essay On Gold Once the gold ore is no longer able to be mined economically, all of the salvageable equipment is removed and the reclamation process begins. The goal of reclamation is to return the mine site to its pre mining state while minimizing erosion, and protecting the public and surrounding wildlife. Portals that lead to the underground workings are sealed, but should have ports to monitor if there is a buildup of toxic gases or water. Reclaiming the surface area where the mine office, bathhouse, and processing facilities were located starts with demolition of the buildings and removal of equipment and materials. A special requirement for reclaiming gold processing plants is to rinse and neutralize any residual leaching solution from the solution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paper money in the United States and other countries used to be backed by gold which became known as the gold standard . This meant that a person could trade paper money for its equivalent value in gold bars. Eventually it became too difficult to maintain this standard so it is not currently used by any country. One of the most well known uses for gold is in jewelry which makes up about 78 percent of gold consumption. Gold is desirable for jewelry manufacturers because of its luster, resistance to tarnish, and ability to be shaped easily. However, pure (24 karat) gold is too soft to withstand the stress put on most jewelry, so it is often made into an alloy with silver or copper to make it harder. Another use of gold is in electronics and computers due to its high conductivity. Connectors, soldered joints, and connecting strips have low voltages running through them that are easily interrupted by corrosion, which is why gold s resistance to tarnish makes it perfect for these applications. In the medical industry, gold alloys are used for crowns, fillings, and other orthodontic appliances because it is chemically inert and non allergenic. Also, radioactive gold isotopes can serve as a radiation source when treating certain cancers. Interestingly, small amounts of gold can be injected into the eyelids of a person that suffers from lagophthalmos, which is the inability to completely close their eyes (King, ... • 52. The Importance Of The Japanese American Internment My priority was to try to show the American people that we are just as loyal as anybody else. We need to prove our loyalty because the reason why we re in camp is because the American public says that we are enemy aliens. Were loyalty to Japan and so forth. And that perceptions got to be changed. Susumu Satow. This statement is very powerful stating we need to show the American people we are not your enemies but your friends. Do not be scared of us just because we are Japanese. Prejudice played a large role in the Japanese American relocation because of the 1894 treaty, conflict over China, and the Russian Japanese War. The Japanese were never awarded for their bravery going into those internment camps. They were spit on and called names. Imagine being in that situation of hatred. Japanese American relationships were strained (during the)years before World War II. One of the reasons the United Statesand Japan did not get along was in 1894 when a treaty was signed allowing Japanese Immigrants into America allowing them the same rights as US citizens. In 1906, this treaty was violated when the San Francisco Board of Education passed a provision sending Japanese and Chinese children to segregated schools. This movement angered the Japanese Government because it violated the treaty. In late 1907 and into early 1908, letters were exchanged between the United States and Japan known as the Gentlemen s agreement . The Gentlemen s Agreement was for the US government to ... • 53. Islamofascists Hate Teddy Bears Radical Islamofascists Murder Innocent Teddy Bears Many on the left care more about trees and animals than human beings. Ironically, the 9/11 terrorists murdered trees and bunny rabbits. It seems the terrorists have crossed a line so heinous that even leftist ostriches will have to remove their heads from...well, let s call it sand. Algerian hackers committed a chilling story of animal barbarism. Geographically mixed up Algerian hackers made themselves look rather silly by defacing the website of an English stately home instead of Belvoir Fortress in Israel, their intended target. Belvoir Castle, a Royalist stronghold during the English Civil War, by contrast, is best known these days as the host of an annual teddy bears picnic. 64 This... I think the interview during admission is quite difficult because it is an important method to understand more about the patient discomfort and their background for example medical history, surgical history, allergic, body condition. Moreover, as some of the patient might not tell the true information as they might be nervous when admit to the hospital. The most difficult thing during the nursing interview during admission is spelling the surgical the name and some of the terms for the medical history.
