DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
Digital citizenship (LiDA 102)
 This micro-course engages in academic learning as digital citizens of the
internet
 Learning in a digital age is about learning on the internet.
 It develops a positive online identity in a supportive online identity in
support of learning on the internet commensurate with good practices for
privacy, security, and international communication.
It teaches:
 The dimensions of digital citizenship for work and learning in the 21st
century and how this differs from an offline environment.
 Teaches the rights and responsibilities of a digital citizen.
 Expand the learning network by adopting a proactive approach to
improving your web presence to support and engage in a digital age.
This course involves:
 Digital citizen
 Online identity for learning
 Digital environment
 Digital practice in workplace
 Social issues and the internet
Digital citizenship
 Many links referencing resources targeting the school level, with a focus
on the safe, skilled, and ethical use of online technology.
 Nine elements of digital citizenship.

3. Digital communication and collaboration
4. Digital Etiquette
5. Digital Fluency
6. digital Health and Welfare
7. Digital Law
8. Digital Rights and Responsibility
9. Digital Security and Privacy
Online identity for learning
 This course is only interested in the human side of online identity, but in
part, this is determined by how technology automates the process of
building your digital footprint.
 internet identity, also online identity is a social identity that an internet
user establishes in an online community and websites
 It can also be considered an actively constructed presentation of oneself.
 A digital identity is information on an entity used by computer systems to
represent the external agent.
Digital Environment
 Digital environment refers to the tools and online spaces we use to
interact with each other.
 Health and safety is a components of digital citizenship
 Using computers can create health and safety issues including physical
discomfort, stress, and fatigue.
 Use of appropriate equipment, user education, and a healthy dose of
common sense will address most computer health issues
 As an online learner, you are probably well versed in maintaining good
online learner
Digital practice in workplace
 This considers how change with technology will impact digital practices in
the workplace.
 Individuals portray different personas online.
 We need to be careful about what we post online because this may have a
negative impact on future career prospects or current employment.
 We must also be cognizant of the different limitations that different
careers place on what can be shared publicly and what needs to stay
private.
 Building vital learning or professional network online is very powerful for
staying up to date with new trends and establishing connections with your
peers.
Social issues and the internet
 This is the last learning partway under LiDA 102 digital citizenship.
 In this learning part way, it introduces a number of societal issues and
problematic online behaviors which emerged in the digital world.
 This is by no means a comprehensive list or a thorough examination of the
perspective issue.
