The rise of mobile has forced everyone dealing with web experiences to think beyond the desktop format. But, if we have learned anything from the recent push to mobile, we need to anticipate the future sooner rather than later; not only the next wave of formats, but everything after that. This presentation will talk about why we have to adapt to creating more flexible interactions for the immediate future and the coming wave of connected devices. It will look at the practical lessons learned from today’s best practices in responsive web design and think about how we can evolve and expand these to better handle the implications of a growing internet of things. The presentation aims to start a dialogue within the community and link web designers and more product oriented designers together, as there two worlds blur together.
The document discusses strategies for effective engagement on social media platforms like Facebook based on a webinar by Steve Buttry. The key recommendations are to [1] post photos rather than just text updates, and [2] start conversations by asking questions rather than just posting headlines. Additional tips include experimenting with posting photos at different times of day, engaging with comments on posts, and broadening engagement across other platforms like Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram. Readers are encouraged to try these engagement strategies and document the results.
This document contains sketchnotes from presentations at the DDD North 2015 conference. It lists the names of 13 sketchnoters and the topics they created sketches for. It provides information about DDD North being a free one day technical event in the North of England and Scotland aimed at networking and education for developers.
The document provides an overview of project management and Scrum framework concepts through examples and exercises. It begins with introducing the purpose of sharing experiences to make participants comfortable managing projects. Key concepts such as defining a project, Scrum roles and process, and product backlogs are defined. An exercise walks through prioritizing a sample product backlog for an eco-friendly garden. Additional sections cover planning and executing sprints, reviews, and adapting the process as needed for successful project completion and lessons learned.

Templates, trainings, threats: I’ve tried everything to get content from clients and colleagues sooner—and mobile hasn’t made things easier. Instead of planning pages, now we’re asking stakeholders to prioritize and manage a million bits of modular content.
So how do we keep our subject-matter experts from feeling overwhelmed, prevent carousel-obsessed executives from endless homepage arguments, and get the content we need to make design and development decisions?
The answer is in using content strategy as a means to orchestrate, not dictate.

I learned the basic definitions and components of a computer including what a computer is, its common uses, and the main parts that make up a computer. My learning experience in the introductory computer course, ACT 1, was positive as I gained a good understanding of fundamental computer concepts.
1. The document presents a new method for monitoring electrical components within concrete structures using infrared thermography (IRT). IRT can detect thermal anomalies or hotspots indicating potential faults.
2. Common faults include loose connections, overloading, and corrosion, which can produce overheating and efficiency losses. The proposed system uses IRT to automatically detect hotspots, process images to identify faulty components, and classify the severity of issues found.
3. The system aims to make inspections faster, less costly and require less expert experience than conventional methods. It analyzes IRT images using image processing and neural networks to classify issues and recommend maintenance actions.
Tobacco use leads to disease and death, costing billions annually. Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, and lung diseases, and smokers die 13-14 years earlier than nonsmokers. Worldwide, tobacco use causes over 5 million deaths per year, with 8 million deaths annually projected by 2030. In the US, tobacco use causes 443,000 deaths per year, with 49,000 from secondhand smoke. Tobacco use costs the US $193 billion annually, with $96 billion for healthcare and $97 billion in lost productivity. States have billions available from tobacco taxes and legal settlements but spend less than 3% on tobacco control programs, below CDC recommendations.
Tobacco kills approximately 440,000 Americans each year, accounting for one in five U.S. deaths, and half of all long-term smokers will die from tobacco-related illnesses. The document discusses tobacco statistics globally, noting that there are over 1.1 billion smokers worldwide, with 1 in 5 teens ages 13 to 15 smoking cigarettes and approximately 10 million cigarettes purchased per minute totaling 15 billion cigarettes sold daily worldwide, with China home to 300 million smokers alone.

The document summarizes facts about alcohol and tobacco addiction. It notes that the younger a person starts drinking, the greater the chance they will become an alcoholic. People who use both alcohol and drugs are also at higher risk of dangerous interactions. Every day in the US, more than 13,000 children and teens take their first drink, putting them at greater risk of addiction. The document also provides statistics on tobacco use, noting it kills more Americans annually than wars, and that the majority of smokers want to quit but have difficulty doing so.

This is the public version (with some redaction) of the slides from a social media training session I ran at RSPB Sandwell valley.
The RSPB are the largest Wildlife charity in Europe, with over 1 million members.
I was asked to attend a media training day at the RSPB Sandwell Valley nature reserve to run the social media element of a media training day. We also had several 'break out' sessions where attendees of the training session brainstormed various ideas for social media use within their organisation - this culminated in the planning of how to use social media to:
* Promote a local event in advance
* Maintain engagement during the event by leveraging the power of social media
* Use social media after the event to re-connect with those that attended and drive awareness to those that missed the event, to boost attendee figures for next year's event.
This slideshow contains much of the content we covered during the day, with some parts redacted for privacy reasons.
If you're interested in learning more about the great work the RSPB does, visit: https://www.rspb.org.uk/

Rack up successes first—then start talking content strategy.
• Introduce content strategy practices into your organization when your organization doesn't care about content strategy.
• Use analytics to identify what needs improvement.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
