demeanor when I worked with her two years ago as a Summer of Service Volunteer for Habitat
of Humanity of Wake County. Her task was to develop a Grand Opening plan for our Apex
ReStore. During the time Michele reported to me, she was an outstanding performer and I
heartily endorse her for graduate school.
Michele is reliable, dedicated and eternally upbeat. Her ability to generate community support
for our ReStore grand opening was unparalleled. We had record setting performance in the new
Apex ReStore that has not been matched since and I am confident this is due to Michele’s
efforts. Michele independently conceived of the grand opening strategy and then systematically
sought internal and external support to make her vision come alive. She did this work with no
budget, so she had to persuade community members to support her ideas. She was clever to
seek marketing support as a way to barter for donations. Despite being on the asking end of
most conversations, I regularly received unsolicited praise from donors commending Michele's
outstanding level of service, professionalism and follow-through. Michele demonstrated her
ability to effectively multitask and handle a high-volume workload during her summer with us. In
addition, she consistently kept everyone up to date through email and text so the broader team
remained aware of her plan which was important because all activity culminated on a single
grand opening day.
Of particular value to me was Michele's ability to work with minimal supervision. This was an
operationally intensive time with significant logistics and I relied on Michele to get the job done
