A management practice of sharing power
with employees so that they can take
initiative and make decisions to solve
problems and improve performance.

It is based on the idea that giving
employees skills, resources, authority,
motivation, as well holding them
accountable for outcomes of their
actions, will contribute to their
competence and satisfaction.
BUT EMPOWERMENT IS ALSO…

Building self-capabilities & skills, enhancement of
them and increasing the visibility of a person or a
group to take on new responsibilities and improve
the personal and public image.
SOME CHARACTERISTICS

The professional feels responsible not only for his/her work,
but the entire business and his/her own development and
becomes an "active problem-solver" rather than an executor
of orders.
