Summary and Rationale
Health and Nutrition
Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach (CALLA) is the most appropriate theoretical ground for the unit since it has been based on cognitive theories that are infused into the lesson planning process to create learning strategies that in order to develop content that will increase the academic fluency of the ESL students.
This unit was chosen since health and nutrition is an everyday thing and students have to engage in activities that are related to health and nutrition everyday Further still, with the increasing cognitive abilities of the students, there is need to introduce them to the ideals of balance diets and the terminologies that are used in food and nutrition. Proficiency in health and nutrition as a unit increases the vocabulary base of the ESL students of the chosen age and also increases their prowess and language proficiency.
It is of interest to the teacher that the children learn different types of foods according to their diet categories and also increase their word power. The expectation is that since children at the chosen developmental stage are intrigued by different foods and snacks, teaching concepts and engaging them in ideas will be easy. The activities that are lined up in the teaching/learning process are engaging and fun and the students should have no problem internalizing ideas.
Students are also expected to understand the connections that are there between the physical activities, emotional wellbeing and their social wellness. They should also analyze the needs for the variety and moderation that is offered by a balanced diet.
Health and nutrition is an everyday thing the components of it go beyond the classroom setting to the world. Issues with personal health, fitness and diet have got lasting impressions in the life of a person and the set standards from whence a child is young are the ...

The Body
The human body consists of several parts that work together to support life. The body is made up of the head, hands, trunk, and legs. The head contains the brain that controls all body activities. The hands are used for touching and holding objects while the legs are used for locomotion. The trunk contains organs such as the heart, liver, and lungs. People need food, water, and air to survive.
Fitness
Fitness refers to the state in which the body operates in ideal ways. Physical fitness involves taking good care of the body by eating a healthy and balanced diet consisting of proteins, vitamins, and carbohydrates. It is unhealthy to take excess fats and carbohydrates because they can make the body fat. Eating excess fats and sugars causes obesity and diabetes. People need to engage in physical exercises to stay healthy.
Motor Skills
Motor skills refer to the activities in which people use their muscles for motion in order to accomplish specific tasks. All activities that people engage in involve motor skills (van der Fels et al., 2015) Examples of motor skills include: writing, walking, and jumping. People need to exercise in order to improve the efficiency of their motor skills.
Hygiene
Hygiene refers to the general body cleanliness. People should take a bath at least once in a day in order to keep the skin clean. People should also brush their teeth after every meal to protect the mouth from disease-causing microorganisms. It is important to wash clothes and keep them in a clean environment. People must wash their hands before eating, and after visiting the toilet to avoid infections.
Taking Care of the Environment
The environment refers to things that surround us. It is important to take care of the environment. We should water plants and take care of animals. All wastes and dirt should be thrown in the dust bin. Throwing wastes in the environment is called pollution. Air pollution causes respiratory diseases such as asthma.

Students should be able to demonstrate their understanding of motor skills and explain factors that improve or deteriorate motor skills (FDE, 2019).
Students should competently demonstrate their understanding of hygiene, and how it applies in the day-to-day activities (FDE, 2019).

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

3. There are many kinds of food that you eat everyday. Food contains different
vitamins. The function of those vitamins are also different.
To stay alive and to be able to do many activities, the organisms needs foods. The
foods that enter into the body will be oxidized to produce energy. The foods also has
some other function, those are:
a. For the growing and the formation of the body
b. To replace broken body cells
c. To maintain body metabolism

The foods that you eat must be nutritious. What is meant by nutritious is that
the food contains some base goods, those are, carbohydrates, fat, protein, vitamins,
minerals and water. The food containing all of the starting material in a balanced
number is called balanced food. Beside nutritious, food has to be easy to digest and

3. The varieties of food and its role.
As mentioned the foods that you eat must contain some base goods those are
carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water.
a. Carbohydrates are compounding arranged by carbon elements (C), hydrogen (H)
and oxygen (O). Body needs carbohydrates as the main source of energy (every 1
gram of carbohydrates contains 4,1 calories), to keep the acid-base balance of the
body.
b. Fat, as carbohydrates, fat also functions as source of energy (1 gram of fat produce
9,3 calorie of energy), as vitamins A, D, E and K., as protector organs of body.
c. Protein has some important function, such as source of energy (1 gram protein
produce 4,1 calorie), as substance to form hormone, enzyme, antibody and
chromosomes.
