B. Establishing A Purpose
for the Lesson

group the class in to
four (4) and ask the
students to do
activity no.6 “My
Meal and Meal Habit
Log” in LM page 35

divide the learners
into groups. Each
group races to stand
behind the chair
with the word that
they think
significantly
connects weight to
lifestyle. Only one
group can occupy a
chair. Groups could
switch places until
the signal to stay is
given. Discuss your
group’s choice of
word or picture.
Categorize your
choice: is it about
nutrition/food, or
physical
activity/exercise.
Let them explain the
connection between
“weight” and
“lifestyle” using the
different words and
pictures they have
chosen.

Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting New Lessons The teacher will ask these questions to the learners: • What is the importance of physical fitness tests in achieving healthy lifestyle? • How much time do you engage in physical activity to achieve healthy lifestyle? (5 minutes) The teacher will recall the previous lesson and ask the following questions: • How can you describe the importance of Filipino Food Guide? • Is there any related activity can you suggest to achieve healthy lifestyle? (5 minutes) The teacher will ask the following questions: • What is the importance of physical activity exercise and healthy eating habits? • What can you suggest to your friends, classmates and family members in achieving over-all health? (5 minutes) The teacher will ask the students to recall the physical activities that they have experienced in Physical Education when they were in Grade 9. • What are the benefits of involving yourself in physical activities and exercising? • How many minutes or hours were usually spent on these activities? • Do you think people in your community will enjoy doing these kinds of activities? (5 minutes)

Establishing A Purpose for the Lesson The teacher will group the class in to four (4) and ask the students to do activity no.6 “My Meal and Meal Habit Log” in LM page 35 (15 minutes) (See attached tool) Race to Connect. The teacher will divide the learners into groups. Each group races to stand behind the chair with the word that they think significantly connects weight to lifestyle. Only one group can occupy a chair. Groups could switch places until the signal to stay is given. Discuss your group’s choice of word or picture. Categorize your choice: is it about nutrition/food, or physical activity/exercise. Let them explain the connection between “weight” and “lifestyle” using the different words and pictures they have chosen. What Is It For You? The teacher will solicit ideas or opinion about lifestyle (eating habits, physical activity and exercise). Let the students do the activity 2 on page 5-6 of the LM. (10 minutes) (See attached tool)

Presenting Examples / Instances of the New Lesson Based on the activity above, the teacher will ask the following questions to the students: • Based on your work, what are the types of food do you usually eat? • How many servings do you usually eat per meal? • What eating habits are common in your group? • What do you think are the effects of these eating habits? (10 minutes) The teacher will present different practices using Flashcards/Power point Presentation regarding health practices. The learners will identify if it is HEALTHY or UNHEALTHY and they will give the REASON/S about their given answer. Then the teacher will ask the following questions: • Which among the practices are considered healthy and which are unhealthy? • Which of these do you do? • Can these practices help us to change our eating habits? Why? • Can these practices Use the earlier activity as springboard in presenting the lesson. • What aspects of your lifestyle do you think should be most attentive to? Why do you say so? • How balanced diet affects your physical activity? • How do you differentiate physical activity and exercise? (10 minutes)

Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills # 1 The teacher will discuss to the class the value of eating habits on Pages 36- 38 LM and pages 42- 43 on TG. Let the learners answer the following questions: • What are the risk factors that affects your health? • How does BMI help in • What types of food do you eat that are close to the recommendatio ns in the Filipino Food Guide? • Do you think you need to change your meal options? The teacher will call the students to present their speech one by one. (50 minutes) The teacher will present/post different scenarios showing different lifestyle. The learners will identify the Risk Factors, and give Recreational Activity that they can suggest to solve the problem. Scenario 1. Marinezza is constantly in a hurry trying to meet deadlines. Scenario 2. Luz eats a lot of fast food items
