The Neolithic Revolution began in different regions between 12,000-10,200 BCE in the Middle East, 9500 BCE in China, and early 7500 BCE in India. During this period, Paleolithic societies began the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture and domestication of animals like sheep, goats, and crops like wheat and barley. Two major Neolithic settlements were Catal Huyuk in modern-day Turkey, consisting of over 15 acres and housing around 6,000 people, and Jericho in modern-day Palestine, surrounded by massive stone walls within its 8-10 acres.
