The male reproductive system consists of both internal and external organs that work together to produce, maintain, and transport sperm and seminal fluid. The internal organs include the testes, which produce sperm and testosterone, and the seminal vesicles and prostate gland, which secrete fluids to create semen. The external organs are the penis and scrotum; the penis delivers semen during intercourse, and the scrotum houses the testes and helps regulate their temperature. Together this system allows for reproduction through the production of sperm and its delivery inside the female reproductive tract.

- 4. Seminal Vesicles Located at the base of the bladder, the two seminal vesicles secrete a thick fluid that nourishes the sperm. Bladder The bladder is the muscular sac that stores urine (pee) until it is released through the urethra. Prostate Gland This walnut-sized gland surrounds a portion of the urethra and produces some of the fluid in semen.
- 5. Vas Deferens Also called the ductus deferens, this thin muscular tube transports the sperm from the epididymis to the urethra. Urethra The urethra is the tube that carries semen and urine out of the penis. Scrotum The scrotum (also called the scrotal sac) hangs under the penis and contains the testicles and epididymis.
- 6. Penis The penis is made of two parts: the shaft (the main part) and the glans (the tip, sometimes called the head). The penis delivers sperm through the urethra. Testicle The two testicles (or testes) produce sperm and the male sex hormone called testosterone. Epididymis Next to each testicle, the epididymis is a light- colored tube where sperm is stored. From here, sperm cells are transported to the vas deferens.
