Minerals are naturally occurring substances composed of chemical elements that cannot be broken down further. There are two main kinds of minerals: metallic and nonmetallic. Metallic minerals include ferrous minerals like iron and ferroalloys, as well as nonferrous minerals such as copper, aluminum, gold, and uranium. Nonmetallic minerals include mineral fuels and other minerals. Metals are further classified based on their properties and common uses.
