Leonardo Da Vinci (April 14, 1452-May 2, 1519) A Renaissance Man
BIRTH Born on April 15,1452; in Vinci Italy. Parents are Ser Piero and Caterina. Father took custody shortly after birth, mother married someone else.
GROWING UP Grew up with his father most of his early life. Leonardo had access to scholarly texts owned by family and friends. Exposed to Vinci longstanding painting traditions.
GROWING UP At fifteen his father apprenticed him to the renowned workshop of Andrea del Verrochio.  Even as an apprenticed Leonardo demonstrated his talents. One of Leonardo’s first big breaks was to paint an angle in Verrochio’s Baptism of Christ.
GROWING UP Leonardo was a better painter than his master. Leonardo was so good that he made his master resolve and never paint again.  Leonardo stayed at Verrochio’s workshop until 1477.
ADULT LIFE In search of  new challenges Leonardo entered the service of the Duke of Milan in 1482. He stayed there for 17 years leaving only after Duke fell from power in 1499. The Duke kept Leonardo busy painting and sculpting elaborate court festivals.
ADULT LIFE Leonardo was also told to design weapons and buildings and machinery. From 1485-1490 Leonardo produced a studies of loads of subjects including  Geometry, mechanics, and Architecture. His studies contained designs for advanced weapons including tanks and other war vehicles.
ADULT LIFE Leonardo was so busy that he forgets to finish some paintings that he already started. This resulted in him only completing 6 paintings in the 17 years at Malin one of them was “The Last Supper.” Leonardo spent most of his time studing science.
ADULT LIFE Between 1490-1495 he developed a habit of recording all his studies. His worked covered four main things;  architecture,  painting, elements of mechanics, and human anatomy. He clearly illustrated his studies in his notebook.
ADULT LIFE In 1503 Leonardo began working on the “Mona Lisa” On July 9 1504 his father died. From 1513-1516 he worked in Rome maintaining a workshop and working on projects for the Pope.
ADULT LIFE In 1516 he was offered the title of Premier Painter and Engineer and Architect of the king in France. Although suffering from a paralysis in his right hand Leonardo was still able to draw and teach. On May 19, 1519 in Cloux France, Leonardo died.
