Aardwolves Compare And Contrast
Amazingly, aardvarks and aardwolves can eat 300,000 termites in one night! That s probably
more than all the termites you have seen in your life. Aardvarks and aardwolves have similar
diets and habitats, but they live very different lives. Both aardvarks and aardwolves have
features that help them survive and get their food. These mammals are about three feet long.
Aardwolves can grow to be 30 pounds; however aardvarks can grow to be 140 pounds.
Aardwolves have yellowish white fur with black stripes, while aardvarks have grayish brown
short coarse hair. They both have long sticky tongues, but aardvarks also have long ears and
powerful claws and feet. Aardvarks and aardwolves both have similar diets but get their food
differently. They

Differences Between Hamlet And The Lion King
Fairy tales have helped children deal with things they fear. Now a days, the fairy tales children are
aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney
has taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment
industry. Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went
through retellings and alternation; for example Hamletand The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently
neglected these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King,
Disney s most watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only
movie which is previously has not been a fairy tale. However, this is not the true. While The
Lion King may not be based on a fairy tale, it is a matter of fact strongly based on the play by
William Shakespeare called Hamlet . Disney creative writers adroitly disguise the basic character...

In Hamlet, Hamlet s father appears to Hamlet and tells him about the deserving successor is not
on the prestigious royal throne. Whereas, in the movie, The Lion King, Mufasa s spirit appears
in the sky to Simba and tells him the precisely the same thing. In both the scenario, the departed
fathers tell their sons that something is not quite right and they need to do all it takes to make it
right. In The Lion King, the storyline is a replica of the play Hamlet. In the starting, Claudius
intoxicates Hamlet s father, who then rules the throne and weds Hamlet s mother Gertrude.
Likewise, Mufasa is tricked and thrown off a cliff which leads to his death by Scar, who then
becomes the King of the Pridelands, and then marries Simba s mother, Sarobi. In play Hamlet and

The Role Of Male As Breadwinner On The Workplace
The term work/life Balance has evolved around the idea of balancing work, life and family
responsibilities in 1986 in USA. The concepts of work/life balance, work/family balance, work
/life conflict, work/family conflict have gained prominence in the recent years due to the
changes in the society and the workplace. The role of male as breadwinner is no longer relevant
as more and more women are coming out to work and support the family in the best possible
way(Charlesworth et al, Rajadhyaksha and Bhatnagar, 2000). With workplaces becoming more
gender balanced (Bardeol et al, 2000), the degendered workplace, equally cohabited by men and
women (Zetlin and Whitehouse, 1998), is exploring Work/life Balance and Work/life Conflict as
conditions equally applicable to both men and women. The term has three important components
work , life and balance . In simple terms, work is normally conceived of in this context as
including paid employment while life includes activities outside work. According to Skinner and
Pocock (2008), life activities outside the domain of paid work include, family, friends and
community, thus, subsuming family issues. The term balance too, lends itself to a variety of
meanings. Clark (2000) defines balance as satisfaction and good functioning at work and at home
with a minimum of role conflict . A simplistic definition of balance may be sufficient time to meet
commitments at both home and work . 1.1What Is Work Life Balance?

Tutankhamin s Tomb
Recent radar scans in Luxor show evidence of two previously unknown chambers that connect to
the tomb of Tutankhamun. The scans suggest this with 90% certainty, and they also suggest that
the chambers contain organic matter and metal. While the prospect of fresh tombs that have been
untouched for millennia already arouses excitement among anthropologists, archeologists, and
many more, there is speculation that Queen Nefertiti s remains may be found in one of the
chambers. While Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, Egypt s antiquities minister, suggests that the remains
could also be of the young pharaoh s mother or sister, he says that this could still be the discovery
of the century, much like Tutankhamun s tomb was in the 1900s. Still, there is debate

Essay on Confucianism vs. Buddhism
Confucianism vs. Buddhism
By Robert Truckle In this essay, two world religions will be compared to see how similar and/or
how different they are; these two religions are Confucianism and Buddhism. Confucianism speaks
about the wise thoughts that Confucius came across throughout his life. Buddhism speaks about
how to acquire great knowledge throughout life. Confucianism was founded by a Chinese man, but
Buddhism was founded by an Indian man. These quick comparisons show how the religions differ,
but more detailed comparisons will be seen throughout the essay. The origins and founders of these
two religions are quite similar, which will be explained in this paragraph. Confucianism was
founded by a man named Confucius; which is how the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The begging bowl symbolizes Buddha entering the final steps of enlightenment because it is said
that a woman offered him a bowl of milk rice while he was practicing austerity but accepted the

Through showing all the main symbols in each religion, you can see that Buddhism has man
more symbols and their symbols mean more than a word or phrase in Chinese. The sacred
writings differ between Buddhism and Confucianism. In Confucianism the writings are mainly
Confucius teachings but Buddhism s writings are mainly written by followers explaining how
Buddha lived. Confucianism s scared writings are mainly written by Confucius himself and are
about his teachings to his followers although some are written by followers. Buddhism s sacred
writings are written mostly by his followers and were written and were written so that people
could read about Buddha and how he lived his life. Confucianism has two main books for sacred

writings of a man similar to Confucius named Meng Tzu. The Wu Jing is broken down into 5
parts which cover: Classic of History, Classic of Odes, Classic of Changes,

Satire In Dr Strangelove
Stanley Kubrick film, Dr. Stangelove, or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb,
presents a sarcastic comedy about a commander of a U.S. Air Force Base, General Jack D. Ripper,
who diverts his B 52 bombers from airborne alert to an attack on the Soviet Union with nuclear
weapons. Some way into his work on the script, however, Kubrick realized the story was too
appalling for serious treatment and decided to recast it as an out and out satire (Bromwich).
Kubrick could have kept the film in a serious tone most people wouldn t even have the interest in
watching it because the world is more interested in something that would make them laugh but also
something that will catch their attention. Throughout the film, there were many patterns... Show

Civilian and military relations are important because it determines who controls the armed forces
and the extent to which the armed forces control the country. During the film, Dr. Strangelove,
asked the question, Is the President in control of the U.S. nuclear weapons? Most military
personnel are not okay with the fact that when something occurs like the Civil War that they
cannot make a decision themselves, instead they have to wait for the President to come up with
a plan and then they are to execute whatever the President decides. Generals Turgidson and
Ripper do not seem to respect the President. During the film the President wanted to talk and
figure out a plan before he decides if taking out 90 percent of the civilian population is something
he wanted to happen while he is the president. Civilians often think twice about what to do when
something bad happens but military personal are prompt with taking action when something
happens. During the film when crew members received word from the base that they were set
for Wing Attack Plan R , and Major Kong said, Folks back home is counting on ya and by golly
we aren t about to let them down showed that the first thought on their mind was civilians and
other people before themselves. No one ever thinks twice about why the military did this or did
that. People often think the military cares only about themselves but it can be shown by the crew
members that that is not true. The military is often put into situations where they have to quickly
make a decision and not think twice about it. This can be hard to do but the military always tries
to do what seems to be the best not only for others such as civilians but also themselves. Another
scene in the film is right after the base got notified of a possible attack, it is said over the intercom
Our nation is counting on you and I know you won t let them down . This scene again

In the question of whether or not globalization presents a new field of oppertunity, I would like to
start of with looking at a text I looked at earlier in this essay called A place of one s own: schooling
and the formation of indentities in Modern Nepal by Stephen Carney Ulla Ambrosius Madsen,
together with the text Consumer Culture and Identities in Kathmandu: Playing with Your Brain by
Mark Liechty
The first text, presents the oppertunity of breaking out of historically constructed social classes, the
individuals placement in the family and indentity development, through education and activities at
school in modern Nepal.
I believe that globalization plays a significant role in education because it creates new oppertunities

This here is the picture of the wonderful oppertunity that globalization and awareness gives to
society, but there are of course many other ways to look at globalization in the modern world.
I would like to also mention the text A Life of One s Own in a Runaway World by Beck, that
focus on individuals need for freedom, and the dream of being the boss of your own life. I
believe that some would argue, that this new focus on the individual in the western world and less
on the development of society, can have a downside for the part of the world who does not have
the means to do the same.
This here would present a picture on how globalization only offers a new field of oppertunity for
the people who have the means to take control of their own lives and only focus on their own
individual.
I would argue that depending on which side, because there are many, of globalization you look
at, you can find either a field of oppertunity or a new way to structure old inequalities. Hopefully
the closer we move to a more globalized world, we will experience individuals and society in
closer relation to eachother, and globalization would then be catagorized as a field of oppertunity.

Planning
In the planning phase, a Project Charter is provided to all management, stakeholders and those with
significant authority over the company. The Project Charter essentially defines the project. It
contains the objectives of the project describing the deliverables, while also containing a description
of the criteria used to assess when each section is completed, risk assessments and identifies
stakeholders and management (Documentation Consultants, n.d.). The Project Management Plan is
also produced during the planning phase. It contains the project s schedule and milestones, required
resources and cost estimations and budgets.
To start off the planning you must study the current system with the people involved (such as
clients, employees or management). These groups would have meetings to discuss areas of the
system that could be improved and suggest possible solutions. In these meetings, agendas are given
out so that everyone knows what the objectives are. Notes are recorded to be reviewed during
requirements analysis.
Also included in the analysis phase is a feasibility study. As the name would suggest it simply
assesses if the new system is feasible within the budget and manpower of the company. (Overton,
2007)
It would determine if the project should even be started and if would it be possible to make it
within the budget

Living At Home Vs Living With Family
Moving out of the nest is a huge step in a student s life. Eighteen years is a long time to be living
with parents who have been a main support for living since birth. Most students believe that living
on their own will be the best experience of their life, because of the increase in freedom and
independence; however, most do not realize that living at home with parents has more benefits
compared to living in an apartment or dorm. These benefits include less physical work, less
responsibilities and saving more money. One benefit of living at home is that there is less physical
work involved. When living with parents, they clean the entire house. Leaving out the odd assigned
chore, parents wash everything from the floors, dishes, kitchen table, counters, bathroom toilet,
shower, sinks, walls, and more. On top of all, they wash and iron all the laundry of the house.
My household includes six people with an average of eight loads of laundry a week, which
would take up a lot of time. On the other hand, all this work would have to be done by one person
if living in an apartment. The amount of time and dedication that would have to be put in to
cleaning, would leave less time for social events or extracurricular activities, which is important for
a first year university studentto be involved. Most apartments, especially dorms have the laundry in
a separate room, so having to bring the laundry down four flights of stairs, watching it until it is
finished, and making sure no one

How Does Truck Financing Affect Interest Rates
Truck Finance: What Factors Affects Interest Rates
The best truck financing eventually means that you have to pay low interest rates and low monthly
payments. Trucking businesses that do not ensure that they obtain the best deal on their loans could
face difficulties in generating profits if the majority of their revenue has to spent on loan
repayment. The optimum way to avoid this phenomenon is to develop a concrete plan before
availing truck financing.
Truck owners personal credit is equally important as their business credit to future lenders. Careful
and thorough planning effectively means that these business owners will require receiving their
personal credit reports and business credit reports to ensure that there are no goof ups on them that
may contribute to lowering their credit scores. If such mistakes appear on credit reports, business
owners can have them eliminated before a lender checks these reports. It is vital that ... Show more

Truck financing that is eventually requesting the truck s full purchase price puts the lender at 100%
of the risk. When truck owners agree to take a substantial amount of the risk from the eventual
lender, the latter rewards these clients with lower interest rates. Loans obtained at low rates of
interests do not take too long to pay off, and they allow truck owners to obtain a profit sooner in
comparison with paying high interest payments.
When truck owners are in the process of buying trucks, they can take the opportunity to effectively
become pre qualified for their truck financing. When they successfully do this, they ultimately
know what interest rates lenders would be offering as well as the terms that they may be able to
obtain. When they decide to purchase trucks with this knowledge, they can quickly compare their
pre qualified deals to the ones that the financing company are

The Role Of Journalism And Democracy And What Is The Most...
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF JOURNALISM IN DEMOCRACY AND WHAT IS THE MOST
POWERFUL CURRENT THREAT TO THAT ROLE?
Journalism and democracy are arguably inextricably intertwined concepts, each having a vital role
in the effective function of the other. Democracy as a term and an inherent notion finds it origins
from Ancient Greece with the term being derived from the Ancient Greek words demos people and
kratia power (The Daily Miracle: An Intriduction to JOuranlism p. 45). Traditionally, journalism
has been considered to play an integral role as somewhat of a gatekeeper of democracy by
promoting and upholding the democratic societal values upon which countries such as Australia
have been built. This role was first classified as the Fourth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Accordingly, arguably the most powerful threat to Four Corners role in promoting and upholding
democracy in Australia is the Executive s constant threats to cut network funding. This can be
explored through looking through the lense of the libertarian and social responsibility arms of the
theory of the press developed by Fred Siebert, Theodore Peterson and Wilbur Schramm (whatever
the book is (1956)) and the propaganda model developed by Herman and Chomsky (Manufacturing
Consent, 1988).
Cutting funding threatens the ABC s and thus Four Corners ability to uphold the values of
democracy in Australia on the basis of the libertarian model of the theory of the press
This is on the basis that the loss of 400 jobs and funding to the ABC (http://about.abc.net.au/our

Faith In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In the final moments of life, it is not unheard of for a man to fight, pray, or even beg for his life;
it is practically human nature. This familiar human facet is outlined in one of Flannery O
Connor s most popular short stories, A Good Man Is Hard to Find. To be specific, O Connor s
characterization of the grandmother in the story details a woman selfishly desperate to save her
own life, a beggar built on words, hoping for some kind of pity; at the same time, The Misfit is
characterized as an emotionless sociopath, who has no time for the grandmother s pleading. In
many ways, the entire family illustrates their lack of concern for fellow man (Dibble 7). In the
closing events of the short story, we are shown the depths of the grandmother s faith and The Misfit
s rejection of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most pivotal moments of all, however, is the old lady s epiphany, revealing the
profound message of all. Altogether, A Good Man Is Hard to Findis a product of interwoven
themes of faith presented through the characterization of two opposing characters. Throughout
the story, the grandmother continually calls The Misfit a good man, and while this is most
likely just another attempt to manipulate him into not murdering her, it is still something to be
considered. Therefore, the question that begs to be answered is: Is The Misfit a good man? On
the surface, most would scoff at this question: Of course The Misfit is not a good man; he is a
murderer, after all! In fact, McDermott says that, critics find no plausible argument for such an
unwavering proclamation [that The Misfit is a good man]. However, in the paradoxical situation
that is A Good Man Is Hard to Find, The Misfit may be the best man out of any of the characters.
As said by Dibble, O Connor s treatment of the characters in this story reinforces her views of man
as a fallen creature

Civil Rights During The 20th Century
Today, we stand at a precipice threatening a definitive split between Blacks and Jews, and Jews of
Color and Jews. The recent platform of Black Lives Matters denounces Israel as an apartheid state.
A respect for the history of Black political thought demands we not forget Israel and Jews (of all
races) remain a vulnerable minority.
Jews and Black Americans are most often linked together during the 20th century Civil Rights
movement. These communities were victims of institutionalized discrimination and social
shunning. Jim Crow signage proclaimed: No Jews, No Dogs, No Negroes. At the height of the
Civil Rights era, Jews and Blacks marched together and were martyred during the Freedom Rides
for voter registrations.
The 19th and 20th centuries were filled with social and political change from the outlawing of
slavery, the Labor Movements advancement of workers rights, and WWI and WWII toppling of
empires and raising up new nations. Unfortunately, Blacks and Jews continued as subjects of racism
and anti Semitism, with increasing violence. Black enfranchisement was met with government
sanctioned White Supremacist aggression (such as the Klu Klux Klan). Similarly, the Holocaust
highlights Jewish vulnerability. Esteemed historian and Pan Africanist WEB Dubois exclaimed,

Gait is the most important function of daily living activities for all human beings. As physical
therapists and researchers we are particularly interested in evaluation of gait. There is a distinct
necessity for objective measurement of gait because without it the excellence of treatment decisions
is condensed, due to subjective and often unreliable nature of the assessment. Objective measures
must be employed to validate efficacy of the treatment protocol, a function that has become
imperative since health care resources are becoming more strained and health care providers are
held more accountable1. Gait assessment is an everyday responsibility of the therapist, and visual
assessment seems unreliable and erratic for the most part. Measurement... Show more content on

Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now
a concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and
technology. Many people believe that computers will become self aware or sentient and view
humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the
technology should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help
catapult research and the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the
technology offers. The complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren t obvious, but there
are more benefits to improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the
negative effects people believe will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial
intelligence that many institutes and companies believe in. However, they all share the same
belief of a self aware, conscious, human like, computer system, the type of AI people fear.
Disregarding that an AI is a computer much like a phone or laptop, one must consider that if
something is sentient like a person or animal, should they be treated like one? And if not, is it
discrimination or racism when it is treated like an item? Slavery treated people based on race or
social status differently, the bottom being slaves. Some might argue that machines don t have a

ACM does this by deeply involving themselves in their portfolio companies Aspects of the

Agriculture in the Himalayas of Nepal Essay
Agriculture in the Himalayas of Nepal
According to some estimates, as much as 90% of Nepal s population relies on agriculture for its
sustenance.[1] The significant climactic variations between Nepal s sub tropical Terai region, hills
region, and Himalayan mountain region lead to a variety of different agricultural models. Within
the northern Himalayan region, additional variations in agricultural style exist because of changes
in the qualities of available soil and quantities of moisture at different altitudes. Some researchers
remark that it is even possible to anticipate the ethnicity of a group in a rural Himalayan village by
glancing at an altimeter, as the traditional lifestyles maintained by the Nepali speaking caste Hindus

As they rely heavily on their crops to sustain themselves, they tend to remain in areas where
agriculture can continue throughout the year.
In midland mountainous regions from 2,500 to 3,200 meters above sea level, sub Tibetan
groups (or groups of Tibetan ethnicity and culture) grow one crop of wheat or barley per winter
and one crop of buckwheat during the summer. The climate in this region is cool and dry, and the
dry field agriculture used requires less labor than rice cultivation. This allows them to raise cattle,
water buffalo and goats to supplement their diet.[4]At even higher altitudes, where low levels of
moisture permit only a single crop of wheat or barley, yak, which are well suited for high altitudes,
become a major component of the lifestyle.[5] In the northern areas of Nepal, Tibetan pastoralists
travel to altitudes reaching up to 5,200 meters as they seek out pasture for their animals during the
summer monsoon season, although few permanent habitations can be found above 4,000 meters.
Where possible, these groups make up for shortages in grain and other goods by trading wool,
butter, meat, and draught animals. They may also hunt, fish, and forage for wild plants, although
habitat destruction from deforestation has caused a decline in the availability of game and fish
resources in much of Nepal, making it increasingly difficult to rely on these assets for food.[6]

Websites Advantages And Disadvantages
Today, most online websites have their own online assistance such as live chat room, email and
FAQ (frequently asked questions) that offer the customers an easy way to get in touch when
they need help. Help desk has been here for many years. Its history is very important because it
has structured how users handle their technical issues. Before the computer boom, users with
technical problems would have to get in contact with a call center to resolve their problems.
With the constant growth of the technical advancement, help desk is something that is very
much needed. Websites have helped users with online assistance because of the convenient it
offers compared to pre websites. One of the major things customers and users look for is
convenience. Websites have helped make it like this because of the many ways that they can
receive contact. One of the ways to contact websites are through email. Instead of calling a call
center and having to be on hold for a long period, the user could just send them an email
regarding the question they have. Typically, emails are answered within a couple business days.
Each company has their own methods of answering emails, a popular one is auto responder. An
auto responder is a script that automatically returns a prewritten message to anyone who submits e

Linux to carry out a type of attack which helps build and develop an awareness to protect
computers from varies password attacks.
The chosen software tools are offline password attack (John the Ripper) and (RainbowCrack) which
they both are from similar Cyber Security attacks under password cracking tools. John the Ripper
is free on multi platform as it combines various password cracking features in one package.
RainbowCrack uses rainbow crack tables that are updated periodically. After calculations, the
results are stored, which were obtained in the tables is called a rainbow table. The process of
creating rainbow tables takes very long time, but when the program works it s done very fast.

Shockwave Is A Short Duration Acoustic Wave That Carries
Shockwave is a short duration acoustic wave that carries energy and can be used as a stimulus to
heal damaged tissue. Years ago, shockwaves first started to affect swimmers on a South Pacific
beach. Researchers found that when mines were blasted in the water the high energy shockwaves
would damage the internal organs of the swimmers. As researchers kept studying the effects of
shockwaves, they developed a treatment for kidney stones by controlling the power of the
shockwaves that were released. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a noninvasive
treatment that delivers high or low intensity shockwaves to specific area in the body. Doctors
determine the intensity of the shockwave by the patient s location and severity of pain. Before...

Connective tissues have many different cell types. Fixed cells, such as fibroblasts and mast cells,
stay part of the tissue for a long period of time. Wandering cells, such as macrophages, do the
opposite. They are seen in tissues for short periods of time, usually when there is an infection.
Connective tissues can be broken down into two categories, connective tissue proper and specialized
connective tissues. Connective tissue proper includes loose connective tissue, adipose tissue (fat),
and dense connective tissue. Specialized connective tissue includes cartilage, bone, and blood.
Muscle tissues are found attached to the bones, the walls of hollow internal organs, and the heart.
Their main function involves movement. These tissues react to a stimulus called muscle fibers.
When these muscle fibers contract, they pull at their attached ends and this is how we move
different parts of our body. There are three main types of muscle tissue: skeletal, smooth, and
cardiac. Skeletal muscle tissues are found in muscles attached to bones. Smooth muscle tissues are
found on the walls of hollow internal organs. Cardiac muscle tissues are only in the heart. The last
major type of tissue is nervous tissues, which are found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Their
function is to send impulses for coordination, regulation, and sensory

William Blake Poetry Analysis
In general, there are various forms of literature, whom many historical authors and analysts
throughout the decades have the chance to demonstrate their freedom of expression, and as well as
using their imagination to conduct dramatic plots with compelling characters. In particular, there is
one specific literary form that expresses the author s mood, tone and profound messages, in a way
that is rhythmic, allegorical and visually creative pertaining to the human senses. In this case, the
form of poetrymatches with the mentioned criteria, from its promising structural styles, such as
limericks and haikus, as well as its repetitive alliteration that attracts readers to recite the poems, in
an emotional manner. It is a fact that poetry is also used to enhance the author s theme, according to
many descriptive literary techniques, such as similes, personification and symbolism. In particular,
the theme of lovecan be portrayed in various meanings and visual representations, according to each
author s contrasting perspective. Specifically, there are three poems that briefly describe three
perceptions of love, whether it can be prominent in regards to the loss of virginity, the appreciation
of idealistic beauty, or the wrathful feelings towards infinite sexual desire.
Firstly, the poem called The Sick Rose discusses the subject of love, referring to the allegorical
figures that William Blake explains in this composition. With the use of personification and

Essay on Changing a Flat Tire
Changing a Flat Tire The following steps are the safest way to change a flat tire. If you received
a flat tire while driving down the road; first thing to do is to get away from oncoming traffic; at
that time, find a place that is well lit, such as a parking lot. Keep in mind the farther you drive on a
flat tire, the more damage you will incur to the tire and wheel. Secondly, set the parking brake so
that the car does not roll away while the car is off the ground. Then, you have to locate your
spare tire, which will replace the flat tire; that is usually in a compartment inside the trunk. The
spare tire is secured in place by a bolt or a bracket that unscrews easily. In addition to the spare tire,

You will have to turn the lug nuts counter clockwise to loosen them. Do not remove the lug nuts
all the way off the threaded shaft. Next, to get the wheel off the car, you have to raise the corner of
the car where the flat is located.
Therefore, you will raise the jack so that it almost touches the car. Once the jack is raised enough
to just touch the car; position the jack so that it is not tilted; furthermore, make sure the jack is 6
12 inches behind the front or rear of the tire. When you are sure the jack is in position correctly;
proceed by raising the jack, so that the car will rise off the ground. Remember you need to fit a
fully inflated tire in place of the flat; therefore, make sure you jack the car up enough to get a
fully inflated tire under there. Once you have the car off the ground; go ahead and remove the
lug nuts with your hand. Now, grasp the wheel at 3 o clock and 9 o clock and pull the wheel
straight off. Place the flat tire in the trunk; otherwise, it will be in the way while you are working.
You will then, pick up the spare tire and line up the holes with the threaded shafts; then slide the
spare tire onto the threaded shafts. Next, you will spin the lug nuts on by hand; indeed, you have to
turn the lug nuts clockwise to tighten them.
Tighten the lug nuts as much as you can with your hands. Now you can lower the jack;

Summary Of N. Scott Momaday s The Way To Rainy Mountain
Throughout history, the resilience of Native American tribes through the gentrification of their
culture at the hands of the U.S. government is exceptional. In an excerpt from his award winning
autobiography, The Way to Rainy Mountain, author N. Scott Momaday journeys to the Rainy
Mountains to visit his grandmother s grave, emblematic of the spiritual pilgrimage to bring his
ancestral roots to light. Momaday, a knowledgeable author, educator, and artist, addresses his
fellow intellectuals in his . Through the use of stylistically different modes of rhetoric in his
writing, he conveys a ruminative, nostalgic tone, appealing to pathos and evoking sentiment in his
readers. The Way to Rainy Mountain is a composite of poetic wisdom derived from Momaday s
culture, in which he links the survival of his people to the ability to preserve and pass on stories of
their past. Momaday introduces the distinct landscape of the Kiowas origin with rhythm and beauty,
demonstrating his passion for his culture. Through powerful imagery and rhetoric he connects his
readers to the poetry and wisdom that come with his culture s land, history, and customs. In
specific, as he is describing the landscape, he uses an anaphora when he says ...but one hill or one

Essay on Militirization and Modernization in Petrine Russia
Militarization and Modernization in Petrine Russia
In the eighteenth century, the political, economic, and socio cultural fabric of Russian life
underwent important changes. Generally speaking, these changes were indicative of a transition
from an isolated position of Muscovite Russia still ingrained with a mentality characteristic of the
Middle Ages to a new consciousness of modernization and increased westernization. This major
shift in Russian history was the product of broad, deliberate reform, accredited to the reign of Peter
the Great (1694 1725), which ushered in European art, literature, philosophy, and ideas of political
organization and administration. Willingly accepted or not, large scale government intervention

At the same time, others heralded Peter as the beacon of Russia s enlightened future. An increased
sense of nationality appeared in the course of Peter s military developments that were successful in
establishing Russia in Europe.
During Peter the Great s reign, only one year was spent at peace. His rule was therefore
characterized by virtually ceaseless and insatiable military ambition. Beginning with the war
against Turkey in 1695, Peter would wage war against Sweden, Poland, and the Ottoman Empire
as well as express interest in the viability of places such as China and Japan. Peter s foreign
policies were ambitious: he endeavoured to regain territories that were thought to be historically
Russian such as the Baltic States, Poland, and Ukraine; sought access to international waterways;
and aimed to extend and set up Russia s boundaries for defence strategy as well as for a closer
affinity with the Western world. Russia, therefore, become a major player in the international arena
and that was due to Peter s creation and development of a standing permanent army and navy that
were integral to forging Russia into a world power.
Peter s military reforms were a break from Russia s past. Traditionally, Russia relied on a militia
offensive and later the more regimented and structured military unit, the

Visiting a dentist, in most cases, is not exactly an event that someone looks forward to. Oral
hygiene is important in making sure that no problems arise for teeth, however, and the issue of
unhealthy teeth has been combatted by advertisements, and more recently, the additive of fluoride
into tap water. Fluoridehas been important in the process of improving the dental health of
Americans; after the addition of fluoride into tap water, tooth decay decreased drastically among
Americans and most significantly among young children. It s argued, however, that fluoride is

This statement assumes that enough fluoride is added to water to harm whomever is drinking
it; the actual amount of fluoride in drinking water is in the range of 0.7 to 1.2 parts per million.
To help visualize that amount, just one part per million is one minute out of two years. For
fluoride to be harmful to humans, someone would have to ingest 5 to 10 grams in the same
sitting, the same as needing to drink more than 10,000 glasses of tap water at the same time,
which is physically impossible. In fact, the human stomach can only hold about 34 ounces at it s
capacity, not close to the 80,000 ounces of tap water someone would need to ingest to die. Before
getting close to being harmed by fluoride, water intoxication would potentially kill the individual.
Not enough fluoride is added to have chronic effects too. Chronic fluoride toxicity occurs after
being exposed to fluoride for long periods of times, developing after 10 years. Nevertheless, the
amount added to fluoride is not enough to develop chronic fluoride toxicity. Therefore, the amount
of fluoride added to water has no ill effects on populations.
It s claimed that the addition of fluoride into the drinking water is unlawful as people who do not
want fluoride in their water should not be forced to drink it. This claim has never help up in a
court of law; in fact, the courts believe that fluoridation is good for public health and welfare,

Totem And The Coyote Columbus Story By Thomas King
The two stories Totem and The Coyote Columbus Story written by Thomas King are about the
Aboriginal people of North America. Thomas King revisits the history of the Native American
people in his stories and tells them in a symbolic and metaphorical manner, with his simple touch of
humour. The stories Totem and The Coyote Columbus Story are based on historical events, where
in they describe the real historical events which have occurred, rather than the ones written down
otherwise. The story Totem illustrates the cultural biased society s attitude towards the Aboriginal
people of North America. The story Totem by Thomas King captures several such incidences and
tells them in a bit magical and symbolic way. It tells us the story about Aboriginal people and their
three centuries of history shared with the European. The Coyote Columbus Story by Thomas King
talks about the sailors who claimed they had found the land of India and China, which was North
America in reality, and corrects their claim in this story by retelling the true events which had
actually happened. The events in this story take place at the time when Columbus arrived in North
America, unlike in Totem where its events take place in a post Columbus period.
Thomas King says that the Canadian history has been altered and he feels he should tell them
correctly. He incorporates four core elements in his story Totem to illustrate his point: the totem

Imagine being told what you want or not want to hear all the time, imagine being able to say
everything you want without any guilt or fear of hurting others, it might sound a little exaggerated,
but the world will be way easier if people wouldn t be afraid of communicating. Many people
nowadays are in relationships and don t have any type of communication with their partners. There
are many of reasons why a relationship or even marriagewill fail, however are people aware of
them or do they know how to avoid them ? It has been proved that communication is the key to a
relationship. Interpreter of Maladies, is a book composed by nine short stories, written by Jhumpa

one of many factors that leads to a relationship to become problematic and will even be the cause
of a break up. In most of her stories there is at least one example of lack of communication which
leads to a misunderstanding. In every type of relationship there should be communication or else

though, Interpreter of Maladies, is just a book of nine narrated fiction stories, communication is

Nuture Nature Vs Nurture
TWINS AND THE NATURE NURTURE OF INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence is defined by
psychologists as the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex
ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience (Dr. C. George Boeree 2003). It is an interesting
aspect of the human being that psychologists try to understand in terms of the various factors that
influence it. The variation in the level of intelligence in human beings is scored using the IQ. It is
evaluated across a spectrum of perspectives ranging from biological, psychoanalysis, cognitive
psychology, humanism and behaviorism. But the most debated is how nature and nurture influence
intelligence. Nature follows with a biological approach focusing on genetic, hormonal and neuro
chemical explanations of behavior that are acquired, while nurture focuses on all behavior learnt
from the environment through conditioning. Nature is what we think of as pre wiring and is
influenced by genetic inheritance and other biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the
influence of external factors after conception e.g. the product of exposure, experience and learning
on an individual (Saul McLeod , 2007). How nature or nurture influence intelligence or which of
them is more influential, is highly studied psychologists. Such studies have been attempted by
using twins by isolating from their siblings, and evaluating whether genetic or environmental
factors has influence on their intelligence. In their use, identical (monozygote) twins are separated
and made to grow in different environmental conditions such as socioeconomic status, parents
behavior, alcoholism, criminal behavior, emotional adaptation and nutrition while non identical
twins are used as controls. This is done by testing their IQ. (Nature vs Nurture in Intelligence, 2005)
The influence of nature on genetic is easily studied using heritability or traits that are considered
inherited, including intelligence. Psychologists try to compare the influence of heritability and the
environment by taking advantage of the idea that monozygotic twins share 100 percent of their
genes while dizygotic twins share 50 percent. Consequently identical twins are expected to display

How Did The War Measures Act Affect Canada
On August 22, 1914, the War Measures Act was put into place. The Act allowed the federal
government to do anything it felt was necessary, for the security, defence, peace, order and
welfare of Canada (Breti). The War Measures Act could get put into use when the government
believed that Canada was about to be invaded or go to war. The reason the War Measures Act was
made was so that the government could push things like bills and decisions through faster. That
way if Canada does get invaded or goes to war they would not have such long waits for something

The power that had been given to the government turned it into something that did not resemble
what could be recognized as democracy today. The Act also allowed for the civil liberties of the
people to be taken away. Also, the Act was abused quite a bit by the government. The War
Measures Act was used only two times after this: during World War Two, and during the October
Crisis. During its use in World War Two Canada once again had internment camps, but this time for
the Germans and Italians. After the bombing of Pearl Harbour many Japanese were also placed into
the internment camps. During the october Crisis Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau used the War
Measures Act to be able to arrest people without having to give proof of wrongdoing. He did this
because he was searching for members of the terrorist group, Front de Liberation du Quebec,
because they had kidnapped, British trade commissioner James Cross, and kidnapped and

reason, but it was still a serious infringement of the people s rights. Once again there was a
suspension of civil liberties in both World War Two and the October Crisis. However, since 1988
the War Measures Act has been replaced by the Emergencies Act. This Act limits and specifies the

the protagonists in order to be engaging. Toy Story effected the cinematic experience greatly which
can be seen through its vast success in the industry. It told a simple, yet effective story that appealed
to all ages and through impressive computer animation and thoughtful directing they were able to

Sir Richard Branson, Chairman, Virgin Group, Ltd. Case Study
Sir Richard Branson, Chairman, Virgin Group, Ltd. Case Study
Strayer University
BUS 520 Leadership and Organizational Behavior
Read the Sir Richard Branson, Chairman, Virgin Group, Ltd. case study located in Chapter 11
Describe Branson s leadership style in terms of the leadership models addressed in Chapters 10 and
11.
Sir Richard Branson exercises an unconventional Leadership style. His style incorporates a variety
of the components of the leadership models presented by Hellriegel and Slocum throughout
Chapters 10 and 11 of the text.
Branson s position as founder and chairman of Virgin Group gives him legitimate power described
by Hellriegel, 2011 as an individual s ability to influence others behaviors because of the ... Show

today because they want to be aware of opportunities, concerns, and risks etc. While this style is
popular, it is not 100% effective and will likely become less effective as technology continues to
evolve and more people work outside the office. Virgin Group is a company with employees
worldwide; if Sir Branson wants to retain and increase organizational success he must enhance his
Leadership Style by including components of Global Leadership. For example, Sir Branson
recognizes the future trend of global warming and made a personal investment in anticipation of
future opportunities. However, he may have missed an opportunity to include the Virgin Group
team/organization in his personal vision.
The Global Warming initiative could be an opportunity to for Sir Branson to inspire and lead his
Global Team and effect positive, productive change within the organization on a global level.
As the organization grows and technology advances, he may have fewer opportunities to respond
personally to letters and e mail communications daily. Face to face visits with employees at Virgin
Group locations may have to be replaced with a different method of personalized communication.
Recommend a different leadership style (or combination of styles) that would make Branson an
even more effective leader.
I would recommend a combination of the Facilitate and Delegate leadership styles for Sir Branson.

Narcotic Anonymous Meeting Reflection
The first meeting that I attended was a Narcotic Anonymous meeting. The meeting time was
7pm 8pm on September 13, 2016. The group was made up of 12 individuals, 4 females and 8
males. The overall feeling of the group illustrated positive energy. Each person gave the
perception that they truly wanted as well as needed to be there. I did observe that most of the
participants depicted a very high anxiety level based on their body language and the tone in their
voices. There were no new comers , which is the terminology used for a personwho is new to the
world of Narcotic Anonymous. The dynamics of the group, included persons who were in
recovery as well as persons whose addiction is still active. To set the tone of the meeting, I would

Each person said their first name. The chair of the meeting read the guidelines for the meeting.
Individuals were welcome to share their experience. The open topic for the first half of the
meetings focused on how Al Anon has helped the individual in their daily lives. One person shared
that they have implemented the Serenity Prayer and teaching from Al Anon into their work lives as
well as to relationships with family and friends. Another person shared that they have learned how
to set boundaries and adhere to them. Learning how to make sure that they held themselves
responsible if they allowed someone to cross the boundary. As with Narcotics Anonymous, Al Anon
also has a Twelve Step structure and several peoplecommented on the steps that they are currently
on and what the steps have meant to them. No problems or issues were discussed. Individuals
talked about how they are connecting with themselves, not trying to change or control the person
/persons in their lives who have the addiction. The comments made were ones of encouragement.
At several times in the meeting a sponsor sign in sheet was passed around. At a half way point in
the meeting, new comers were invited to go to another room to meet with a member to get
additional information and ask any questions that they may have. In the second half of the meeting,
the group was encouraged to share whatever they wanted to talk about. One person spoke about the
guilt they felt when they decided to end their marriage from the spouse with the addiction. How
their child at the time blamed them for the break up and how it took almost three years for that
adult child to even communicate with them. Others talked about being lost, and having feelings of
misery and hopelessness. They could not fix the person with the

He was the main figure of the Pop Art movement. Such was his effect that he is known as the
Pope of Pop Art. The subject of his works fluctuated from famous American articles to big names
to anecdotal characters to customary subjects like blooms. His artistic creations reformed the
impression of art. Here are 10 of the most celebrated pop art depictions by the pre famous pop artist.
In the 1960s Andy Warholwas connected with the band The Velvet Underground and he turned into
their administrator in 1965. This print of banana highlighted on the front of the presentation
collection of the band, titled The Velvet Underground and Nico. The collection was known as the
most prophetic shake collection ever constructed and positioned thirteenth most prominent
collection ever by the Rolling Stone magazine; and Warhol s Banana got to be distinctly a standout
amongst the most unmistakable bits of pop fine art.
Warhol made a Myths series which contained a progression of silkscreened representations of ten
anecdotal characters taken from pop culture. Every one of the pictures were decorated with jewel

Articulate Definition Essay Examples
I can t even articulate the word articulate. I know what it sounds like, what it feels like your
tongue flicking inward and running across the roof of your mouth, then it pushes itself off against
the back edge of your front teeth. AR TIC UUUU LATE. In fact, as I am writing this, I m saying
it over and over again, feeling the weight of every syllable bouncing from my throat and out of my

Personal Narrative-Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming
How do you know the difference between being awake and being asleep? Is it the feeling of
consciousness and total awareness of life? Or the numb passivity that comes with experiencing a
single moment that otherwise holds no meaning? What happens when those two feelings blend and
you don t know one from the other?
I hesitated my writing and allowed my mind to wander. Dreams. The realm of unreal turned reality.

sight. Another colored block made its way in. Stacking up red, yellow, red, green, yellow, blue. It

in, yet so far away. I wait for them to come closer but they never do. The long corridor mocks me

Ethical Theories That We Have Taught Are Deontological...
The two Contrasting ethical theories that we have studied are Deontological ethics and
Utilitarianism. Deontological: Deon means obligation or duty; Logia means speech Whereas,
Utilitarianism: means the greatest happiness of the greatest number Deontological ethical,
according to deontologists certain actions are right or wrong in themselves and so there are
absolute ethical standards that must be supported. The problems with this position are concerned
with how we know which acts are wrong and how we distinguish between a wrong act and an
omission. Philosophers such as Nagel argue that there is a fundamental concept of right which
makes our actions, while this might be dominated in certain circumstances. There may be an

Kant believe that if an action had moral intentions, therefore it is morally relevant no matter
what the consequences are. This theory states that consequences of an action does not matter
and have no moral relevance, only intentions are morally applicable. Deontology also focuses on
an individual s duty to point an action, not an end as the sole purpose of that action. Kant s
standard by which it is judged morality of an action lies in the second formulation of the
Categorical Imperative, treat others as ends, not as mere means to an end. This means that
actions are not moral if you intend to use someone, without their knowledge, exclusively for a
purpose if reaching a certain end. Kant believes that people have a duty to treat others as both
means and an end in order for an action to be considered moral. Kant s theory of Deontology
looks seems to be divided on whether or not the actions are moral. Since Deontology places an
importance on intentions that determine the morality of an action, this news article would not be
considered completely immoral according to Kant. The article would have to be divided between
two ethical actions, which are the oil spill and the attempts to cleaning to determine morality. It
didn t have no intentions for the perforation platform to explode and cause the oil well to eruption

Ronald Regan Paper
Introduction Reagan, Ronald Wilson (1911 ),the 40th president of the United States (1981
1989), enforced the policies that reversed a general direction of movement toward greater
government involvement in economic and social regulation. Reagan as the younger of two sons,
was born in Tampico, Illinois and spent most of his childhood in Dixon, Illinois. After studying
at Eureka College,a small Disciples of Christ college near Peoria, Illinois, he majored in
economics, and became the president of the student body, a member of the football team, and
captain of the swimming team. He had special drawings toward acting, but after the graduation in
1932 the only job available related to show business was as a local radio sportscaster. In 1936 he...

later they found Hinckley was not guilty because of insanity. Hinckely was sented to a mental

Reagan. In 1984 the Republicans nominated Reagan and Bush for a second term. Reagan
promised to keep taxes down, and won 59 percent of the popular vote and carried 49 states. In
the 1986 elections the Democrats regained control of the Senate. During his last two years in
office, unable to run for reelection himself, Reagan found it harder to get his legislative
proposals finished. Foreign affairs In the Middle East, Reagan came out several times with U.S.
forces to help out with army and military needs. In the early 1980s, armed conflict broke out in
Lebanon between the Christian government and a number of Muslim groups. In effort to
strengthen the Christian government, Reagan sent marines to Lebanon to help out. In October
1983 a bomb killed nearly 250 marines and other U.S. service members at their Beirut
headquarters. In 1986 a bomb in a West German dance club killed an U.S. soldier and injured
others. Reagan claimed that Libya was responsible for the bombing activities, retaliated with air
strikes against several Libyan cities on April 15, 1986 and related to the supporting of Christian
government in Libya. The President Reagan was one of the greatest presidents.

Essay about Scotch-Irish Cultural History
1. The Scotch Irish were staunch libertarians, and acted upon their feelings. Sex ways and dress
ways had close ties to each other in the backcountry. To talk about sex and sexual behavior was
also acceptable in this culture. The dress women and men wore was meant to arouse the opposite
sex. Anglican missionary Charles Woodmason wrote, They draw their shift as tight as possible
round their Breasts, and slender waists (for they are generally very finely shaped) and draw their
Petticoat close t their Hips to show the fineness of their limbs ... indeed nakedness is not censurable
without ceremony. Woodmason was appalled at how these women carried themselves, but to the
women, they were sexy. Men even dressed in ways to show off... Show more content on

In contrast to boys, girls were taught to be self denying, and to be helpers to men. Corporal
Punishment of children was even condemned even though practiced in the home. Even though
there were many questions to be asked before some could marry, Quakers did believe in love before
marriage. They believed that love should be pure and not tainted by the craving of flesh. To marry,
couples needed permission from their families and community. Unlike in Virginia, Quakers forbade
first cousin marriages, and discouraged marriages between second cousins. In Quaker households, it
was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and
Virginia. In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house.
The Quakers had a saying: In souls there is no sex. This meant in their culture, men and women
were equal. Unlike Puritan culture, women could preach to men and women, and in a public
setting. That same quote went for sexual relations in marriages. Sex in Quaker culture was
looked upon as just for the purpose of conception of children. To do otherwise was looked at as
fornication. To have sex just for pleasure was also fornication. Even married couples would
restrain from having sex with each other if the woman was not in time to get pregnant. Married
couple also occupied not only single beds but slept in separate rooms. Quakers

Islam s Views On Islam
Islam
At first, the history of Islam is connected to Mohamed s life. Mohamed was born in to a wealthy
merchant Clan, which is now Saudi Arabia. On the other hand Muslims thought Islam began with
God. Mohamed was raised by his uncle, because his parents and grandparents passed away.
Mohamed lived the life of a Quryash Merchant then later married a girl by the name of Khadija.
Mohamed started hearing voices and though he was going mad. But Khadija thought differently
and told Mohamed that he was the chosen one. Mohamed searched for the true faith of Judaism and
Christianity. Mohamed isolated himself in to the mountains near Mecca for retreat and mediation.
Gabriel the Angel told Mohamed to recite the Koran. The Koran was only originally recited and not
written down in one volume until after Mohamed s death. This has brought controversy over the
authentic composition. Mohamed s wife was the first to convert.
Mecca s envy of Medina resulted in a series of battles between the two cities, which helped
provoke the Battle of the Trench, in which the Meccan s surrounded the city of Median. Mohamed
helped built tunnels and trenches for soldiers to get a way. Many of the people surrendered to the
new Monotheistic faith, which combined Hebrew, and Christian faiths.
Muhammad the prophet, Islam had though had reached it s define form, and Muslims believes
also. This was called the seal of the prophet. This is a metaphorical term used to mean the last

Now a days, the fairy tales children are aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney has taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment industry. Comparing the original narrative to the Disney version, most of the stories have went through retellings and alternation; for example Hamletand The Lion King. Disney has inadvertently neglected these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King, Disney s most watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only movie which is previously has not been a fairy tale. However, this is not the true. While The Lion King may not be based on a fairy tale, it is a matter of fact strongly based on the play by William Shakespeare called Hamlet . • 4. The Role Of Male As Breadwinner On The Workplace The term work/life Balance has evolved around the idea of balancing work, life and family responsibilities in 1986 in USA. The concepts of work/life balance, work/family balance, work /life conflict, work/family conflict have gained prominence in the recent years due to the changes in the society and the workplace. The role of male as breadwinner is no longer relevant as more and more women are coming out to work and support the family in the best possible way(Charlesworth et al, Rajadhyaksha and Bhatnagar, 2000). With workplaces becoming more gender balanced (Bardeol et al, 2000), the degendered workplace, equally cohabited by men and women (Zetlin and Whitehouse, 1998), is exploring Work/life Balance and Work/life Conflict as conditions equally applicable to both men and women. The term has three important components work , life and balance . In simple terms, work is normally conceived of in this context as including paid employment while life includes activities outside work. According to Skinner and Pocock (2008), life activities outside the domain of paid work include, family, friends and community, thus, subsuming family issues. The term balance too, lends itself to a variety of meanings. Clark (2000) defines balance as satisfaction and good functioning at work and at home with a minimum of role conflict . While Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, Egypt s antiquities minister, suggests that the remains could also be of the young pharaoh s mother or sister, he says that this could still be the discovery of the century, much like Tutankhamun s tomb was in the 1900s. Essay on Confucianism vs. Buddhism Confucianism vs. Buddhism By Robert Truckle In this essay, two world religions will be compared to see how similar and/or how different they are; these two religions are Confucianism and Buddhism. Confucianism speaks about the wise thoughts that Confucius came across throughout his life. Buddhism speaks about how to acquire great knowledge throughout life. Confucianism was founded by a Chinese man, but Buddhism was founded by an Indian man. I believe that some would argue, that this new focus on the individual in the western world and less on the development of society, can have a downside for the part of the world who does not have the means to do the same. Eighteen years is a long time to be living with parents who have been a main support for living since birth. Most students believe that living on their own will be the best experience of their life, because of the increase in freedom and independence; however, most do not realize that living at home with parents has more benefits compared to living in an apartment or dorm. These benefits include less physical work, less responsibilities and saving more money. One benefit of living at home is that there is less physical work involved. When living with parents, they clean the entire house. Leaving out the odd assigned chore, parents wash everything from the floors, dishes, kitchen table, counters, bathroom toilet, shower, sinks, walls, and more. On top of all, they wash and iron all the laundry of the house. My household includes six people with an average of eight loads of laundry a week, which would take up a lot of time. On the other hand, all this work would have to be done by one person if living in an apartment. The amount of time and dedication that would have to be put in to cleaning, would leave less time for social events or extracurricular activities, which is important for a first year university studentto be involved. To be specific, O Connor s characterization of the grandmother in the story details a woman selfishly desperate to save her own life, a beggar built on words, hoping for some kind of pity; at the same time, The Misfit is characterized as an emotionless sociopath, who has no time for the grandmother s pleading. Agriculture in the Himalayas of Nepal Essay Agriculture in the Himalayas of Nepal According to some estimates, as much as 90% of Nepal s population relies on agriculture for its sustenance.[1] The significant climactic variations between Nepal s sub tropical Terai region, hills region, and Himalayan mountain region lead to a variety of different agricultural models. Within the northern Himalayan region, additional variations in agricultural style exist because of changes in the qualities of available soil and quantities of moisture at different altitudes. In midland mountainous regions from 2,500 to 3,200 meters above sea level, sub Tibetan groups (or groups of Tibetan ethnicity and culture) grow one crop of wheat or barley per winter and one crop of buckwheat during the summer. The climate in this region is cool and dry, and the dry field agriculture used requires less labor than rice cultivation. This allows them to raise cattle, water buffalo and goats to supplement their diet.[4]At even higher altitudes, where low levels of moisture permit only a single crop of wheat or barley, yak, which are well suited for high altitudes, become a major component of the lifestyle.[5] In the northern areas of Nepal, Tibetan pastoralists travel to altitudes reaching up to 5,200 meters as they seek out pasture for their animals during the summer monsoon season, although few permanent habitations can be found above 4,000 meters. Where possible, these groups make up for shortages in grain and other goods by trading wool, butter, meat, and draught animals. They may also hunt, fish, and forage for wild plants, although habitat destruction from deforestation has caused a decline in the availability of game and fish resources in much of Nepal, making it increasingly difficult to rely on these assets for food.[6] Unlike many third world countries, no strong landowning ... Nuture Nature Vs Nurture TWINS AND THE NATURE NURTURE OF INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence is defined by psychologists as the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience (Dr. C. George Boeree 2003). It is an interesting aspect of the human being that psychologists try to understand in terms of the various factors that influence it. The variation in the level of intelligence in human beings is scored using the IQ. It is evaluated across a spectrum of perspectives ranging from biological, psychoanalysis, cognitive psychology, humanism and behaviorism. But the most debated is how nature and nurture influence intelligence. Nature follows with a biological approach focusing on genetic, hormonal and neuro chemical explanations of behavior that are acquired, while nurture focuses on all behavior learnt from the environment through conditioning. Nature is what we think of as pre wiring and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external factors after conception e.g. the product of exposure, experience and learning on an individual (Saul McLeod , 2007). How nature or nurture influence intelligence or which of them is more influential, is highly studied psychologists. Such studies have been attempted by using twins by isolating from their siblings, and evaluating whether genetic or environmental factors has influence on their intelligence. In their use, identical (monozygote) twins are separated and made to grow in different environmental conditions such as socioeconomic status, parents behavior, alcoholism, criminal behavior, emotional adaptation and nutrition while non identical twins are used as controls. This is done by testing their IQ. (Nature vs Nurture in Intelligence, 2005) The influence of nature on genetic is easily studied using heritability or traits that are considered inherited, including intelligence. Psychologists try to compare the influence of heritability and the environment by taking advantage of the idea that monozygotic twins share 100 percent of their genes while dizygotic twins share 50 percent. As with Narcotics Anonymous, Al Anon also has a Twelve Step structure and several peoplecommented on the steps that they are currently on and what the steps have meant to them. No problems or issues were discussed. Individuals talked about how they are connecting with themselves, not trying to change or control the person /persons in their lives who have the addiction. The comments made were ones of encouragement. At several times in the meeting a sponsor sign in sheet was passed around. At a half way point in the meeting, new comers were invited to go to another room to meet with a member to get additional information and ask any questions that they may have. In the second half of the meeting, the group was encouraged to share whatever they wanted to talk about. One person spoke about the guilt they felt when they decided to end their marriage from the spouse with the addiction. How their child at the time blamed them for the break up and how it took almost three years for that adult child to even communicate with them. I know what it sounds like, what it feels like your tongue flicking inward and running across the roof of your mouth, then it pushes itself off against the back edge of your front teeth. I soundlike I know what I m talking about. I sound like I m articulant. But when I sat in front of the camera held by my brother s shaky hands, with the sudden understanding that this election video would be viewed by the entire National Honors Society, I forgot say articulate. • 44. Personal Narrative-Lucid Dreaming Lucid Dreaming How do you know the difference between being awake and being asleep? Is it the feeling of consciousness and total awareness of life? Or the numb passivity that comes with experiencing a single moment that otherwise holds no meaning? What happens when those two feelings blend and you don t know one from the other? I hesitated my writing and allowed my mind to wander. Dreams. The realm of unreal turned reality. A place where the same intellect of a person lies but is used in divergent ways. That had me thinking about a weird dream I had last night. I was talking to someone, I don t recall who, but the conversation was so vapid and I remember saying hummus birds. It s like looking down a long corridor but without floors or walls to limit my sight. Another colored block made its way in. Stacking up red, yellow, red, green, yellow, blue. It was like a game of Tetris, but Tetris has an ending. At least Tetris discontinues when the blocks reach a certain point. These blocks were infinite. Stacking up, collapsing into one another. Closing in, yet so far away. I wait for them to come closer but they never do. • 45. Ethical Theories That We Have Taught Are Deontological... The two Contrasting ethical theories that we have studied are Deontological ethics and Utilitarianism. Deontological: Deon means obligation or duty; Logia means speech Whereas, Utilitarianism: means the greatest happiness of the greatest number Deontological ethical, according to deontologists certain actions are right or wrong in themselves and so there are absolute ethical standards that must be supported. The problems with this position are concerned with how we know which acts are wrong and how we distinguish between a wrong act and an omission. Philosophers such as Nagel argue that there is a fundamental concept of right which makes our actions, while this might be dominated in certain circumstances. There may be an absolute... This theory states that consequences of an action does not matter and have no moral relevance, only intentions are morally applicable. Deontology also focuses on an individual s duty to point an action, not an end as the sole purpose of that action. Kant s standard by which it is judged morality of an action lies in the second formulation of the Categorical Imperative, treat others as ends, not as mere means to an end. This means that actions are not moral if you intend to use someone, without their knowledge, exclusively for a purpose if reaching a certain end. Kant believes that people have a duty to treat others as both means and an end in order for an action to be considered moral. Kant s theory of Deontology looks seems to be divided on whether or not the actions are moral. Since Deontology places an importance on intentions that determine the morality of an action, this news article would not be considered completely immoral according to Kant. • 47. Essay about Scotch-Irish Cultural History 1. The Scotch Irish were staunch libertarians, and acted upon their feelings. Sex ways and dress ways had close ties to each other in the backcountry. To talk about sex and sexual behavior was also acceptable in this culture. The dress women and men wore was meant to arouse the opposite sex. Anglican missionary Charles Woodmason wrote, They draw their shift as tight as possible round their Breasts, and slender waists (for they are generally very finely shaped) and draw their Petticoat close t their Hips to show the fineness of their limbs ... indeed nakedness is not censurable without ceremony. In contrast to boys, girls were taught to be self denying, and to be helpers to men. Corporal Punishment of children was even condemned even though practiced in the home. Even though there were many questions to be asked before some could marry, Quakers did believe in love before marriage. They believed that love should be pure and not tainted by the craving of flesh. To marry, couples needed permission from their families and community. Unlike in Virginia, Quakers forbade first cousin marriages, and discouraged marriages between second cousins. In Quaker households, it was more of a partnership between the husband and wife than in those of Massachusetts and Virginia. In the Delaware Valley children spoke of their father and mother s house. The Quakers had a saying: In souls there is no sex. This meant in their culture, men and women were equal. Unlike Puritan culture, women could preach to men and women, and in a public setting. That same quote went for sexual relations in marriages. Sex in Quaker culture was looked upon as just for the purpose of conception of children. To do otherwise was looked at as fornication. To have sex just for pleasure was also fornication. Even married couples would restrain from having sex with each other if the woman was not in time to get pregnant. On the other hand Muslims thought Islam began with God. Mohamed was raised by his uncle, because his parents and grandparents passed away. Mohamed lived the life of a Quryash Merchant then later married a girl by the name of Khadija. Mohamed started hearing voices and though he was going mad. But Khadija thought differently and told Mohamed that he was the chosen one. Mohamed searched for the true faith of Judaism and Christianity. Mohamed isolated himself in to the mountains near Mecca for retreat and mediation. Gabriel the Angel told Mohamed to recite the Koran. The Koran was only originally recited and not written down in one volume until after Mohamed s death. This has brought controversy over the authentic composition. Mohamed s wife was the first to convert. Mecca s envy of Medina resulted in a series of battles between the two cities, which helped provoke the Battle of the Trench, in which the Meccan s surrounded the city of Median.
