This document discusses several legal and ethical issues that may affect the production of a film, including copyright, intellectual property rights, slander, filming permissions, royalties, depictions of violence and offensive language, public interest, and performance rights. Copyright law protects the use of special effects and music without permission. Intellectual property rights like trademarks and patents protect the filmmaker's logo and clips from being copied. Slander laws require actors' dialogue not cause harm. Filming permissions and royalties may generate income if the film is successful. Violence and language affect the age rating. Relating the film to public interest makes it believable. Performance rights only apply if using copyrighted music.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

How to Create Map Views in the Odoo 17 ERPCeline George
The map views are useful for providing a geographical representation of data. They allow users to visualize and analyze the data in a more intuitive manner.
3. Copyright- There is a law that gives the owner of a work (like a book, movie, picture, song or
website) the right to say how other people can use it. Copyright laws make it easier for
productioncompanies to make money by selling their works. This will affect my film as I will
not be able to use any copyright special effects or music unless I have the producer’s
permission. Furthermore if anyonewanted to use my clips they would be able to unless I put a
patents on my clipsso if someone wants to use them they have to ask for my permission first.
Intellectualproperty rights- There are 4 types of Intellectualproperty rights, these are trade
secrets, trademarks, copyrights and patents. Trade secrets will not affect my product as this is
used for protecting information in which my film is fictionaltherefore it isn’t realistic and
doesn’t have any secret informationin it like a product might. Trademarks will affect my
product as I will use this so my logo won’t be able to be copied which is important as this will
help represent my company when using promotion for my product. Copyrightswill also affect
my product as this protects work of authorshipso all the clipsI produce are my own and is not
able to be used again. Patents will affect my product because if my product is successful and
could make money I am able to claim this money as I own the product.
Slander- Defamation is an area of law that provides a civil remedy when someone's words end
up causing harm to your reputation or your livelihood, slanderis defamationthat is spoken by
4. the defendant. When producing my film I will have to ensure anything that my actors say will
not cause harm or offense to anyone so my products lookedat in a positivelight.
Filming Permission- The only locationI will be using which may need permission to use is my
home in which I have text my parents asking whether I am able to use our home as you can see
below.
Royalties- This is a certain amount of money paid to a patentee for the use of a patent or to a
producer or production company for each view on their film or for each publicuse of their
work. Thiswill affect my film because if my film is successful then there may be a financial
reward dependent on how successful my product is.
Violence,Offensive Language/Behaviour-During my film there is only one piece of violencein
which I refrain from showing any physical contact however this scene will be finishingwith high
5. amountsof blood.Furthermore there will be low level expletives used on very rare occasions
which means I will be able to likely keep the age rating at 15+ which won’t really affect my
audiencenumbers as I analysed where my target market would be before producingthe
product.
Public Interest- When someone relates to publicinterest in media this means that it’s about
what matters top everyone in society. Therefore in my film I have tried to relate to the
audiencethereby they can create relationshipswith my actors and potentiallyfeel like this
could happento someone in a realistic term, so ensuring that my film is believablewill be
important.
Performance rights- These are the rights to perform music in public. It is part of copyright law
and demandspayment to the music's composer/lyricist and publisherin which the royalties are
usuallyshared 50/50. Thiswill not be affecting my product as I will be using any music from
free companies such as BenSound.
