LESSON: Feelings and Emotions
TEACHING AIDS: short films, worksheets, images presenting feelings and emotions, the emotions cube, different
pictures.
TIMETABLE FIT: 45 minutes
AIMS:
1. To recognize feelings
2. To read short texts
3. To mime and recognize the mimed emotions
4. To express the emotions rendered by the colleagues who perform a musical fragment
5. To create short texts that express positive and negative feelings
CONTENTS
1. Capture and focus attention
- Today we will remember our knowledge from Social Studies about persons and beings. Our today’s lesson theme
will be about “Feelings and Emotions”
- Children will have to recognize the expressed feature in a literary passage:
 Joy
 Sadness
 Amazement
 Fear
 Love
2. Updating previously acquired knowledge
What kind of feelings do you have for animals, plants or people?
What kind of feelings do you have for your parents, brothers or sisters?
Or how do you feel about your colleagues and friends?
How about your teachers?
(Playing “Feelings cluster” in Romanian and English)
3. Guided learning
- Teacher presents some video recordings and pupils are supposed to recognize emotions given by music through
piano, violin and flute performances.
- What type of emotions do they awake? What’s the difference between emotions and feelings? ( the emotion: an
expression of the moment (an instinctive expression); the feeling: appears in time, sums up a lot of emotions).
- I propose a game in which we are going to meet the Emotion and the Feeling and which will end up in a sentence.
At the end of the game the sentence must be translated into English.

- Pupils are divided into two groups and will complete the empty spaces according to the rules of the game,
analysing the words “feeling” and “emotion”.

c) “The wheel of emotions” and “Paired statues”
- You need three children: one spins the “The wheel of emotions” with the needle rotating on the disk. When the
needle stops he names two colleagues to mime the pointed feeling.
- Children would be asked to appreciate their colleagues acting performance.

- Identify emotions and associate them with a colour
- What do you feel when you look at the image?
- How did you feel today?
