Bradley Acres Pond Retrofit Project

PCB contamination from a nearby steel facility led to the remediation and restoration of two streams, Dicks Creek and Monroe Ditch, from 2010-2013. Remediation involved removing over 174,500 metric tons of contaminated sediment and floodplain soils. Restoration included designs to improve sinuosity and aquatic habitats. Post-remediation monitoring in 2014 found improvements in habitat and biological communities, including increased fish and macroinvertebrate species and metrics meeting or exceeding biological criteria.

Remediation involved removing over 174,500 metric tons of contaminated sediment and floodplain soils. Restoration included designs to improve sinuosity and aquatic habitats. Post-remediation monitoring in 2014 found improvements in habitat and biological communities, including increased fish and macroinvertebrate species and metrics meeting or exceeding biological criteria.

It also included revegetation with native plants to promote reforestation and is estimated to provide water quality improvements through reduced nitrogen, phosphorus, and solid runoff. The project was completed in October 2015 and involved design by AMEC Environment & Infrastructure and landscaping by Suzy Foster, with construction by Utilities Unlimited.

Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce nitrogen by 32 lbs, phosphorus by 14.7 lbs, and suspended solids by 5,084 lbs annually.

Long Branch Tributary at Long Branch Falls Park
The Long Branch Tributary at Long Branch Falls Park project restored approximately 670 linear feet of stream within the Accotink Creek watershed. The stream channel was enhanced and stabilized using natural channel design elements. Existing erosion damage was repaired and future water quality has been improved. The project included channel realignment, in-stream rock structures, log structures, constructed wetlands, wood habitat clusters, deer exclusion fence, removal of invasive plants and the re-establishment of the riparian buffer with native species.

Franklin Park and Chesterbrook Neighborhood Stormwater Improvement Project
The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services upgraded over 3000 linear feet of stormwater infrastructure in the Franklin Park and Chesterbrook neighborhoods to reduce flooding, improve stormwater flow and water quality. The project was completed on time and on budget in December 2016 through the construction of swales, infiltration trenches, underground storage chambers and permeable surfaces. The project is estimated to reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment runoff into local waterways.
Hunting Creek at Fairfield Stream Restoration
The Hunting Creek at Fairchild Stream Restoration project, Substantially Completed on January 13, 2021, includes restoring, enhancing and stabilizing approximately 1,186 linear feet of stream channel in two segments and 166 linear feet of tributary through natural channel design to provide aquatic benefits, grade control, improve water quality and prevent further erosion. The work also included demolition of a condemned house and accessory structures including obtaining all associated demolition permits and restoration landscaping.
Terrett Court Storm Drainage Improvements
The Terrett Court Storm Drainage Improvements project in Fairfax County, VA replaced 113 linear feet of an existing 18-inch reinforced concrete pipe and rehabilitated 70 linear feet of upstream storm sewer system using cured-in-place lining. The project addressed public safety concerns and improved drainage by replacing aging infrastructure. Work was completed in June 2018 and included revegetating disturbed areas to promote reforestation.

Merrifield Nursery Emergency Gravity Sewer Replacement
During a routine Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Camera inspection by Wastewater Collection Division (WCD), it was found that 45 linear feet of 8-inch asbestos reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) between MH-292 to MH-291 was within imminent danger of failing. The bottom of the RCP was missing within the 45 linear feet of repair and the pipe was on the verge of surcharging. After an immediate pre-construction meeting with Merrifield Nursery, it was agreed to work from 6pm-10am everyday of the week to avoid disruption and potentially placing patrons at risk during the biggest time of the year for Merrifield Garden Center. The contractor mobilized to the site and began the 20-foot excavation to replace 45 linear feet of broken gravity sewer. The project started on March 14th, 2022 and was substantially complete on March 23, 2022.
SULLY BASINS STORMWATER POND RETROFITS
The Sully Basins Stormwater Pond Retrofits project was substantially completed on April 19, 2022. The project is located within the Cub Run watershed. The project consisted of repair and enhancement of multiple stormwater basins, 0326DP, 0964DP and 1484DP. The project also included construction of new stone cascades, stone weir basin structures and the construction of wetlands with high and low marsh areas. The project will facilitate improved sediment removal and improve downstream water quality using forebays and micro pools. Aquatic and natural habitat were also added within the three basins.

This document summarizes a pedestrian access improvement project along Clarks Crossing Road in Fairfax County, Virginia. The project improved pedestrian and bicycle access by constructing a missing link of sidewalk between Brookside Lane and an existing sidewalk further along Clarks Crossing Road. Scotts Run at Old Meadow Road Park Phase I and Phase II Stream Restoration
Scotts Run @ Old Meadow Road Stream Restoration was substantially completed on March 30, 2022. The Scotts Run project consisted of restoring, enhancement, and stabilizing of approximately 2,930 linear feet of eroding stream using Natural Channel Design criteria. This project included two phases: Phase I was funded by proffers from a private development and Phase II was County funded. Also included was the removal of invasive non-native plants and the installation of new plantings to stabilize the stream and floodplain.

The Lake Barton Dredging, Restoration, and Riser Modification project was substantially completed on December 29, 2021. The project is located within the Pohick Creek watershed. The project consisted of dredging and removal of approximately 19,100 cubic yards of sediment to restore the sediment trapping capacity and improve water quality. The project also included construction of new sediment forebays, in-lake haul roads, and riser modifications (new mid-level sluice gate and cold-water intake) to facilitate future maintenance, stabilize the shoreline, and improve downstream water quality. Fish habitat was also added within the lake.

Pema Khandu, born on August 21, 1979, is an Indian politician and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Dorjee Khandu. Pema Khandu assumed office as the Chief Minister in July 2016, making him one of the youngest Chief Ministers in India at that time.

Lazy Creek Court Outfall Restoration Stormwater/Maintenance and Stormwater Management Division Project Details Description: The Lazy Creek Court Outfall Restoration Project was substantially completed on August 18, 2017. The project consisted of the restoration of 159 linear feet of an eroded channel located in a Resource Protection Area. The goals of the project were to address public safety concerns, stabilize a deeply eroded channel by using natural stream design techniques and provide enhanced water quality.
