Description:
The Tyson’s Galleria Outfall Restoration Project was substantially completed on October 16, 2017. The
project consisted of the restoration of 199 linear feet of eroded outfall channel located in a Resource
Protection Area. The goals of the project were to address public safety concerns, stabilize a deeply eroded
channel by using natural stream design techniques and provide enhanced water quality.
Project Overview:
• Restore the outfall channel with imbricated stone step pools and reinforced bed mix riffle sections
• Stabilize channel banks using coir matting
• Revegetate with native plants, trees, and shrubs to promote reforestation in disturbed areas
• Provide reduction of 28.9 lbs of Total Nitrogen per year, 13.3 lbs of Total Phosphorus per year, and
4,591 lbs of Total Suspended Solids per year
