Description:
The Babson Court Outfall Restoration Project was substantially completed on July 28, 2017. The project consisted of
restoring a 324 linear foot outfall channel which also included a 66 linear foot tributary. The goals of the project
were to address public safety concerns, stabilize a deeply eroded channel by using natural stream design
techniques and provide enhanced water quality. Additionally, MSMD staff incorporated in the scope of work, the
removal of 250 cubic yards of sediment from a County maintained dry pond. The pond was restored with native
vegetation and coir matting.
Project Overview:
• Restore the outfall channel with imbricated stone step pools, rock steps, and reinforced bed mix riffle sections
• Stabilize channel banks using coir matting and native shrubbery
• Re-vegetate with native plants, trees, and shrubs to promote reforestation in disturbed areas
• Provide reduction of 68.5 lbs of Total Nitrogen per year, 31.9 lbs of Total Phosphorus per year, and 10,952 lbs
of Total Suspended Solids per year
