METRO CASH & CARRY

Introduction.
Metro cash & carry started its operations in
Pakistan before 10 years. Since then it has
established itself as a potential market leader in
wholesale. Under the supervision of Managing
Director Mr .Givovanni Soranzo, Metro cash &
carry Pakistan has opened its first store in the city
of Lahore in October 2007.The company's country
head office is also based in Lahore and currently
employs over 400 people in two offices. It has
done total investment of US $ 180 Million and plan
to build &operate 10-15 cash & carry stores in
Pakistan. There are about 250-300 Employees per
store and the head office is at Multan Road
.METRO Cash & Carry is successfully operating 5
wholesale centers in Pakistan i.e. 2 in Lahore, 1 in
Karachi, Faisalabad & Islamabad respectively.

The metro cash and carry big supermarket provides its customers the best quality products of
every kind the main objective is to earn profit maximization.
Important Layout structure
The most concern is that customer entrance is most greeting by the staff,and amazing setup
according to the customers need, free parking is available and security is well, so all
arrangement according tothe customervisit, lifting system and trolley arrangement is
considerable, banking , health and Atm facility is available.
 Customer personal luggage is kept under the safety
 Customer information centre
 When enter for purchasing there is a best impression of setup.
 Play place for children
 Purpose is less price per square meter
 High margin products are more considerable
 Wi-Fi facility for professionals
 Every employee attention with customers
 Price tag with every shelves
 More space for visit
The smelling things like onion and others are at end of the store for avoiding bad impact.
Every branded products are most considerable. Electricity arrangement is reliable. Things
which are not counted is weighed. Shelves are more height lifter handler is used. Price
rotation has been made that no crowed is possible. Price scanner for products and delivery is
made after purchasing all in the trolley by coming back . Exit is from below the store and
from outside the store. Functional layout occur but no considerable customaization.
So, The targeting strategy of Metro cash & Carry depends upon the Segmentation
Metro carries the differentiated marker targeting strategy .They take the whole
customers as a market and carry out the marketing strategy same for the whole
 SWOT Analysis of Metro:
Strengths:
1. Metro has the Basic strength of low Prices with high quality.
2. Serving the customers with the wide variety of products
3. Covering all business solutions under one roof named Metro
4. Having the strong cash and carry business background
5. Best location for such kind of big store and also covering many areas
6. Efficiently using the place and excellent layout
7. Sufficient parking and safety and security measures ansure the quality in every sector
8. Friendly And co-operative staff
9. Computerized data base system which helps both customer and Metro
Weaknesses
 Less awareness in Pakistan regarding cash and carry business
 although location for a big store is suitable but outside the city and not suit for all
customers
 No proper transportation for customers to carry their products far away.
 Limit of 3 persons on a single membership card
 Membership or subscription fees for cards
 Shopping from Metro is much time consuming because the traveling and in store
Visiting time.
 Most small products price is not mentioned in the shelves
Opportunities:
 Advertisement should be more about cash and carry awareness
 Growing market of cash and carry
 Expansion in major cities
 Online shopping is much better option to save time
 Proper Metro owned convene facilities
Threats:
 No roof on the bike parking that can be effect due to whether condition
 Poor law and order situation of Pakistan
 High inflation rate in Pakistan may be effect in increasing the prices of product
Conclusion:-
 After analyzing many different factors which can cause the failure of that type of
business. After this analysis we have also some strong measures trough the business can
minimize the risks and can maximize their profit by adopting that types of suggestions.
