 Up to 7000 languages are spoken around the world.
 260 languages can be found in Europe
 24 official and working languages of EU;
 80% of home pages on the Web are in English;
 English has about 4 000 000 000 native speakers;
 The most native speakers has Mandarin Chinese;
 26 September is European Day of Languages

Many languages originate from
separate language families.
Within continental Europe there
are eight language groups
coming from the big
Indo-European group. These
separate into smaller families
resulting in the diversity of
European languages we speak
today.
Why should we learn languages?
 It improves your brainpower, with the knowledge
that you already have learn.
 We learn and know other cultures.
 People who use many languages in their jobs earn
around 8% more.
 To communicate with other people.
