2. Definisi Ilmu Ekonomi
Ilmu Ekonomi sangat penting bagi manusia untuk
mengelola sumberdaya yang sifatnya terbatas agar
dapat digunakan secara efisien untuk memenuhi
kebutuhan manusia yang relatif tidak terbatas.
Dikelompokkan dalam; Ilmu Ekonomi Mikro dan Ilmu
Ekonomi Makro
Ekonomi Mikro (teori harga): menitikberatkan pada
perilaku ekonomi individu rumah tangga, perusahaan
dan pasar, dalam mengelola sumberdaya ekonomi
secara efisien
Ekonomi Makro: menitikberatkan pembahasan tentang
perekonomian secara keseluruhan (agregatif),
pengangguran, inflasi, pertumbuhan ekonomi dan
perdagangan internasional.

3. Ekonomi Dua Sektor
• Output, or product, markets
are the markets in which
goods and services are
exchanged.
• Input markets are the
markets in which
resources—labor, capital,
and land—used to produce

direction as the physical flow of
products, are exchanged.

4. KONSEP DASAR ILMU EKONOMI
1. Biaya oportunitas
2. Marginalisme
• Biaya oportunitas adalah alternatif terbaik yang
dikesampingkan atau ditinggalkan ketika mengambil
keputusan.
• Opportunity cost is the best alternative that we forgo,
or give up, when we make a choice or a decision. Nearly
all decisions involve trade-offs
4
5. MARGINALITAS
• Dalam memperhitungkan biaya dan keuntungan dari
keputusan, penting untuk memperhitungkan biaya
dan keuntungan yang muncul dari keputusan yang
dibuat.
• In weighing the costs and benefits of a
decision, it is important to weigh only the

6. METODE DARI ILMU EKONOMI
• Ilmu ekonomi positif
• Ilmu ekonomi normatif
• Ilmu ekonomi empiris
• Ilmu ekonomi positif mempelajari perilaku ekonomi
secara apa adanya
• Positive economics studies economic behavior
without making judgments. It describes what
exists and how it works
6
7. • Ilmu ekonomi normatif (disebut juga policy
economics)
• Normative economics, also called policy economics,
analyzes outcomes of economic behavior, evaluates
them as good or bad, and may prescribe courses of
action :
1. Menganalisis hasil perilaku ekonomi
2. Mengevaluasinya sebagai baik atau buruk
3. Menyarankan tindakan tertentu
• Ilmu ekonomi empiris mengumpulkan dan
memanfaatkan data untuk menguji teori ekonomi
• Banyak kumpulan data (dikumpulkan oleh biro
pemerintah maupun perusahaan privat) tersedia untuk
mendukung riset ekonomi
7
8. The Method of Economics
Positive economics includes:
Descriptive economics, which
involves the compilation of data
that describe phenomena and
facts.
Economic theory, which involves
building models of behavior.
An economic theory is a general
statement of cause and effect, action
and reaction.
8
9. Theories and Models
Theories involve models, and
models involve variables.
A model is a formal statement
of a theory. Models are
descriptions of the relationship
between two or more variables.
9
10. Theories and Models
A variable is a measure that can
change from observation to
observation.
The ceteris paribus device is part of
the process of abstraction.
Using the ceteris paribus, or all else
equal, assumption, economists study
the relationship between two variables
while the values of other variables
remain constant.

11. Masalah Ekonomi:
Kelangkaan dan Pilihan
• Kebutuhan manusia bersifat tak terbatas, namun sumber daya yang
tersedia bersifat terbatas.
masyarakat (ketiganya disebut faktor produksi):
– Tanah (land)
– Tenaga kerja (labor)
– Modal (capital)
12
13. Pilihan terbatas dan kelangkaan adalah konsep dasar
yang berlaku dalam masyarakat manapun.
• Batas kemungkinan produksi (ppf - production
possibility frontier) adalah grafik yang
memperlihatkan semua kombinasi barang dan jasa
yang bisa diproduksi dengan memakai sumber daya
masyarakat secara efisien
13
14. • Grafik ppf memiliki
slope negatif
• Slope negatif tersebut
menunjukkan interaksi
antara produksi barang
satu dengan yang lain
• Titik di bawah kurva
bersifat tak efisien
• Pada titik H, sumber
daya sama sekali tidak
dimanfaatkan atau
dimanfaatkan secara
tidak efisien 14
15. • Titik F adalah titik yang
diinginkan karena
Barang modal
menghasilkan lebih
banyak dari kedua jenis
barang, namun tidak
dimungkinkan oleh
jumlah sumber daya
Barang konsumen
yang tersedia dalam
perekonomian
15
16. • Titik C adalah salah satu
titik di mana kombinasi
Barang modal
produksi dari kedua
jenis barang memakai
sumber daya secara
penuh dan efisien
Barang konsumen
16
17. BATAS KEMUNGKINAN PRODUKSI
• Pergerakan di sepanjang
kurva menunjukkan
Barang modal
konsep biaya
oportunitas
• Dari titik D ke C,
kenaikan produksi
barang modal
menyebabkan Barang konsumen
penurunan jumlah
barang konsumen
17
18. • Slope dari kurva ppf disebut juga tingkat
transformasi marjinal (mrt – marginal rate of
transformation)
• Slope negatif dari kurva ppf mewakili hukum biaya
oportunitas yang meningkat
• Ketika kita meningkatkan produksi dari satu jenis
barang, produksi dari jenis barang yang lain akan
menurun secara progresif
18
19. Economic Growth
• Economic growth is an increase in
the total output of the economy. It
occurs when a society acquires new
resources, or when it learns to
produce more using existing
resources.
• The main sources of economic
growth are capital accumulation and
technological advances.
19
20. • Pertumbuhan ekonomi
ditunjukkan dengan
pergeseran kurva ppf ke
Barang modal
arah luar
• Pergeseran ke luar
berarti kenaikan
produksi satu jenis
barang tidak Barang konsumen
menurunkan produksi
jenis barang lainnya
20
21. • Dari titik D,
perekonomian bisa
Barang modal
memilih kombinasi
output manapun di
antara titik F dan G
Barang konsumen
21
22. Economic Systems
• The economic problem: Given scarce
resources, how, exactly, do large,
complex societies go about answering
the three basic economic questions?
• Dengan terbatasnya sumber daya, bagaimana
caranya masyarakat mengatasi dengan baik tiga
pertanyaan dasar ekonomi?
22
23. • Economic systems are the basic arrangements made
by societies to solve the economic problem. They
include:
– Command economies
– Laissez-faire economies
– Mixed systems
• In a command economy, a central government
either directly or indirectly sets output targets,
incomes, and prices.
• In a laissez-faire economy, individuals and
firms pursue their own self-interests without any
central direction or regulation.
23
24. Economic Systems
• The central institution of a laissez-faire
economy is the free-market system.
• A market is the institution through which
buyers and sellers interact and engage in
exchange.
• Free enterprise: under a free market
system, individual producers must figure
out how to plan, organize, and coordinate
the production of products and services
24
25. Economic Systems
• The basic coordinating mechanism in
a free market system is price. Price is
the amount that a product sells for per
unit. It reflects what society is willing
to pay.
25
26. Mixed Systems,
Markets, and Governments
Since markets are not perfect, governments
intervene and often play a major role in the
economy. Some of the goals of government
are to:
• Minimize market inefficiencies
• Provide public goods
• Redistribute income
• Stabilize the macroeconomy:
– Promote low levels of unemployment
– Promote low levels of inflation

36. • Jika kita anggap dunia sosial ini sebagai drama,
maka kita semua adalah aktor yang bermain dari
satu panggung pertunjukan ke panggung lain;
setiap panggung memiliki aturan, norma, nilai,
kebiasaan masing‐masing. Ketika berada di satu
panggung kita akan menyesuaikan diri dengan tema
pertunjukan di panggung tersebut. Ini bukan berarti
ada satu panggung di mana kita menjadi diri kita
sebenarnya. Di setiap panggung kita selalu menjadi
diri kita sebenarnya, tetapi karena setiap panggung
memiliki pertunjukan masing‐masing maka peran
(identitas) yang muncul berbeda‐beda
