SEMINAR
ON
COMPUTER VISION
PRESENTATION BY:

Teachers Training &Research
WHAT IS COMPUTER VISION
 Automatic understanding of images and video
 Computing properties of the 3D world from visual data
(measurement)
 Algorithms and representations to allow a machine to
recognize objects, people, scenes, and activities.
(perception and interpretation)
 Algorithms to mine, search, and interact with visual data
(search and organization)
HUMAN VISION
 Vision is the process of discovering what is
present in the world and where it is by looking .
COMPUTER VISION
 Computer vision is the study of analysis of
picture and video in order to achieve similar to
those as by people.
COMPUTER VISION VS. HUMAN VISION
WHAT DOES RECOGNITION INVOLVE?
Detection: are there people?
Activity: What are they doing?
Object categorization
mountain
building
tree
banner
vendor
people
street lamp
Attribute recognition
flat
gray
made of
fabric
crowded
WHY RECOGNITION?
 Recognition a fundamental part of
perception
 e.g., robots, autonomous agents
 Organize and give access to visual
content
 Connect to information
 Detect trends and themes
ACTIVE RESEARCH TOPICS
IN
COMPUTER VISION
AND
APPLICATION
USING COMPUTER VISION:
FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
 Here are pictures of people and their
expressions. As you can see, below the faces,
the camera can sense where the main features
change in the face.
COMPUTER VISION : SPEAKING WITH EYES
 The computer senses your eyes and notices the eye
movements. When someone blinks the computer would
click something.
 Looking into the side, or raising eyebrows are some
ways to communicate with your eyes in the computer.
 There’s also the eye gaze detection that detects where
you are trying to move to.
OBJECT RECOGNITION (IN MOBILE PHONE)
FACE DETECTION IN DIGITAL CAMERA
TRACKING – RIGID OBJECTS
TRAFFIC SIGNAL DETECTION
TRACKING – NON-RIGID OBJECTS
FACE TRACKING
