WHAT IS K12 EDUCATION?
The k to 12 program covers kindergarten and 12 years
of basic education (six years of primary education, four
years of junior high school and two years of senior high
school) to provide sufficient time for mastery of
concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners and
prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle level
skills development, employment and entrepreneurship.

AGENCIES OF EDUCATION
DepED - Is the executive department of the
Philippine govt. responsible for ensuring access to,
promoting equity in, and improving the quality of
basic education.
- It is the main agency tasked to manage and govern the
Philippine system of basic education.
- It is the chief formulator of Philippine education policy and
responsible for the Philippine primary and secondary school.
AGENCIES OF EDUCATION
DepED Order No. 31, series. 2012
- Enjoined all public and private schools to find creative and innovative ways to
implement the k to 12 Basic Education Program.
The following agencies, councils and schools are attached to DepED for
policy and program coordination.
- Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education.
-Instructional Materials Council (IMC)
- National Academy of Sports (NAS)
-National Book Development Board (NBDB)
- National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT)
-National Museum of the Philippines
-National Science Teaching Instrumentation Center (NSTIC)
-Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA)
- The Commission on Higher education (CHED) is now attached to
the Office of the President, while the Technical Education and Skills
Development Authority (TESDA) is now attached to the
Department of Trade and Industry.

GOOD WAY:
• K TO 12 GRADUATES IS GLOBALLY COMPETITIVE
• MORE STUDENTS WILL LEARN AND THEY WILL BE BETTER PREPARED
WHEN THEY GO TO COLLEGE
• IT ALSO HELPS TO INCREASE ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE AND BETTER
SHOW THAT FILIPINOS CAN KEEP UP WITH EDUCATION IN OTHER
COUNTRIES
• WE ARE GIVEN A CHANCE TO EXPLORE AND ASSURE OURSELVES IF WE
ARE IN A RIGHT TRACK

BAD WAY:
• ADDITIONAL TWO YEARS WILL BE ADDED
• THE GOVERNMENT IMPLEMENTED THE CURRICULUM WITH LACK OF
RESOURCES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENTS AND CLASSROOMS TO BE USED
• A BIG PROBLEM FOR THE PARENTS
• EVEN OTHERS ARE GRADUATES IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND HAS
DIPLOMA THEY STILL CAN’T FIND JOB BECAUSE OF THEIR AGE
CONTRIBUTION TO EDUCATION
THE KTO12 PROGRAM PROMOTES GLOBAL COMPETENCY BY
ACCELERATING MUTUAL RECOGNITION OF FILIPINO
GRADUATES AND PROFESSIONALS IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
THE NEW CURRICULUM ALLOWS STUDENT TO CHOOSE
AMONG THREE TRACKS WHICH ARE THE ACADEMIC
(HUMMS, STEM, ABM, GAS, ICT), TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL
LIVELIHOOD AND SPORTS AND ARTS STRAND.
