Korda Solid Bags
How to Tie the Sneaky Rig – #1 Rig Tutorials This week we're going to let you into a little secret
called the "Sneaky Rig". Why the name the sneaky rig you ask, well it's made up of common
components but with a little edge that I guaranty will never have been used on your lake before. This
rig has resulted in large carp captures from very pressured and difficult venues. Designed for the
wariest of carp that's seen every trick in the book. This rig is tangle proof and ideal for most lake
bottoms. Let's get started The components you will need for this rig is the following: Size 6 hook
(Korda Kurv or Krank patterns work are ideal) Korda N–trap soft 15lb/20lb 3oz square pear lead
ESP anti tangle sleeves Korda shockleader sleeves Korda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Step 7: Make a solid bag You will need a PVA solid bag for this step I personally like the Korda
Solid Bags (small). Firstly add the hooklink into the bag and hook it to the bottom. Make sure the
hair is not tangled then start adding your pellets. Fill up half the bag with pellets then squeeze the
bag and knock it gently on a side of a bucket so the pellets get into every little gap. Now add the
lead into the bag and lightly fill the bag a little more pellets up to ¾ full but make sure you don't fill
it up to much. Twist the bag and knock it again to make it solid then lick the twisted area. If you're
casting the bag at a long distance you can make it even more aerodynamic by folding back the
corners and securing them with a little saliva. Conclusion So there you go you have now learnt an
awesomely effective 'Sneaky' rig that catches big carp. Hope you've learnt something from the guide
and if you have made any adjustments or tweaks of your own to the Sneaky Rig then let us know in
the comments below we love to hear about them! Remember to check out our tackle reviews and

Air Raids In The Book Thief
The air Raids were not ethical in the book thief. The air raids were constant and came out randomly.
"Several days before Christmas, 1942, there's another air raid" (Zusak 442). These air raids have
killed many people who might have not supported the ideas the Nazis were fighting for. Theft is
never right. The world would be in chaos and panic if we all took what we wanted, like liesel did.
For liesel, stealing books excited her and gave the books more meaning. "Although something
inside her told that this was a crime, her three books were the most precious item she owned" (Zusak
109). This shows how she loved books and even if getting them by stealing was a crime she would
still do it. Protecting a person is never not right. At times it could be risky, but an innocent deserves
being protected. "Hubermann held his hand out and presented a piece of bread, like magic" (Zusak
349). Hans did this because he thought it was the right thing to do, which defines his character.
Liesel growing up without her biological parents does affect the way she perceives others. Liesel
does not want to lose anyone else, like she did her mother and father. "Don't go, papa. Please."
(Zusak 423). Hans is someone that Liesel cannot let go and does not want to lose her parents again.
Hans is right to help out Jews, like Max because Max was in the position that he could be saved.
Max can survive by hiding with the Hubermanns. However, giving bread to heavily guarded Jews
was pointless because it

What Is A Treasure?
I went on my way, pondering those questions, as I read the next clue. It had a C on it and it read
"Search narrowly the lines! –– they hold a treasure," I thought about the word, treasure, my
valentine was a treasure to me but surely that wasn't it. At last, it came to me, the statue in town
square, it was said to be a treasure of the town, that was where the next clue was.
I took off again, hurtling myself towards the town square. When I finally made it there was a great
group of people milling about the square. Not a single one would pay me attention, I pushed my way
to the front of square, I had to get that clue before someone else picked it up. I finally reached it, the
statue of our town founder, and in his left hand was the next ... Show more content on

"Slow down my boy," the tailor scolded.
"I'm sorry," I told him, "but love knows no speed and my valentine needs my speed right now."
"Ahh, it is you," he said "the one the inquisitors told me of. Here is your clue." He handed the clue
and I bid him farewell and headed back out into the night after my valentine. It had a large letter S,
the second word. All I could think of was holding my valentine and being close to her again. I
flipped it over scribbled on the back was the following, "The words –– the syllables! Do not forget,"
again the final words enticed my thoughts. Do not forget, do not forget, what could it mean?
I milled about the town pondering until I had made my way to the edge of town there I found my
answer, I found it as I came across the statue of Mnemosyne, goddess of memory, the words, do not
forget, inscripted on the bottom and beside the inscription was my next clue with a large A on it,
halfway my love, I thought, halfway. The back of the tiny piece of paper was the following, "The
trivialest point, or you may lose your labor!"
I immediately thought of the railroad, those jobs required much labor, I made my way to the very
edge of town where the building of the railroad had been and surely enough pinned between some
wood planks was my next clue which had a big R on it, and written on the back, hardly even legible
was "And yet there is in this no Gordian knot," the slanted words required much thought to
remember the legend of the Gordian knot.

The Book Thief Essay
Death states that, "I'm always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their
beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both" (Zusak 491). This book shows us human
doing things that weren't even imaginable before this point. Many people give into ideas that were
lies. But, we also watch a few people go out of their way and sacrifice everything for a man they
barely even know. They do everything they can to keep him safe and alive. They work harder, the
get another job, and they even steal. In Markus Zusak's The Book Thief, death examines the ugliness
and the beauty of humans. During Markus Zusak's book we observe the beauty of humans at many
times. One of the most beautiful things a human does is when Max, the jew ... Show more content

"Close your eyes," she'd said. "Hold out your hands" (Zusak 312). This is the start of one of the
greatest days of Liesel's life. After bringing down a little snow she decides that Max deserves more.
She brings down pots filled with snow and they make a snowman right there in their basement just
for Max. He loves it and Leisel feels good for doing it. There are also times where Liesel and other
people in the book do things that were so magnificent. There is a part where we watch as humans
are so ugly that it is hard for us to imagine that what they had done is possible. Liesel is playing
soccer in the park and all of a sudden all the kids stop because of a noise they hear coming down the
street. They think it could be a herd of cattle, but that not what it is. It is a group of Jewish people
being led, or forced, to the death camps by German soldiers. On there way we watch a man die "He
was dead. The man was dead. Just give him five minutes and he would surely fall into the German
gutter and die. They would all let him, and they would all watch"(Zusak 393). This is talking about
how when a Jewish person would die, the Germans wouldn't do anything. They wouldn't care that a
man died right in front of them. While the Jews are walking Hans, Liesel adopted father, gives them
bread. While Hans is giving this man bread a German soldier notices what is going on. He walks
over to the man and, "The Jew was whipped six times. On his back, his heart, and

Power Of Language In The Book Thief
The Book Thief written by Markus Zusak shows how the impact on the power of language has on
Liesel Meimeger through the structure of the novel. The structure of the novel shows the
development of the character Liesel, highlighting the impact of the power of language. In her
development, she finds the ability to express herself as well as to connect to others. Books become a
comfort to her and heal her, they help her grow strong relationships with other characters in her life.
However, she also sees the damage words have caused through Nazi propaganda, understanding that
Hitler 's words have been the cause of suffering of the people in her life. Despite this, the structure
of the novel shows the ability of the character to understand that ... Show more content on

The book 's importance is explained through Death where '"The books meaning 1. The last time she
saw her brother. 2. The last time she saw her mother." Despite Liesel being illiterate, the
Gravedigger's handbook holds significant meaning for the character. Liesel has an overwhelming
feeling of loss of control and acts out in rebellion to steal the book that lay beside her brothers grave.
By stealing the book, she has a reminder of her small family and it stops her feeling defeated by her
ever changing life, which she has no control over. This idea is then reinforced with another action of
the character. Liesel then finds out that Hitler was the cause of the suffering and loss of freedom of
the people she loved and knew in her life. This second act of rebellion takes place while Liesel visits
a Nazi book burning. Liesel soon understands that the Nazi's burnt books to brainwash citizens of
Germany(_____). As a result of this Lisel then understands the importance and power words have,
causing her to again acts rebelliously in a protest. "And it was anger and dark hatred that had fueled
her desire to steal it." This passage from the novel shows the emotions of Liesel. As a character who
is unable to express herself verbally, her actions speak for her. Liesel 's desire to understand words
begins to grow, with her understanding that Nazis burn books in fear of what they may do to society.
Through structure, the author then highlights how people can harness

Lab Report
One crucial step in the data acquisition procedure was to make sure that the wind speed and wind
direction were in accordance to the target ranges. This will be more tangible if it is pointed out that
time histories of pressure coefficient are directly dependent on the velocity measurements and
turbulence intensity at reference height in the lab. Therefore, wind speed measurement has to be
performed with high resolution devices that can catch little changes in wind characteristics; to do so,
in the current study Cobra probe technology was used. More details regarding the high tech
instruments that were used for experimental setup are presented as follows.

Two types of pressure scanners that are extremely compact were used: one from ZOC22b series, and
three from ZOC33 series [83]. The ZOC miniature electronic pressure scanning modules are
specifically designed for use in wind–tunnel tests and flight tests where operational conditions are
very space–constrained and pressures do not ex¬ceed 50 PSI (344738 Pa). The ZOC22b module
incorporates 32 individual silicon pressure sensors, calibration valving, a high speed multiplexer (45
kHz), and an instrumentation amplifier. An integral "duplexing" valve is optionally available to
allow the ZOC22's 32 sensors to service up to 128 input pressures. The ZOC22 module also
incorporates a calibration valve that allows the ZOC sensors to be automatically calibrated on–line
as well as purge the input lines of contaminants or condensation. Similarly, the ZOC33 is an
electronic pressure scanner which can accept up to 128 pneumatic inputs. Each ZOC33 module used
in the current study incorporates 64 individual piezoresistive pressure sensors. Each ZOC pressure
scanner incorporates an embedded RTD to monitor the temperature of the pressure sensors [83]. The
ZOC modules have been used in conjunction with RADBASE as shown in Figure 4.3 [83].
Typically, the RADBASE would be located inside a wind–tunnel model or other space limited
location in close proximity to the ZOC pressure scanners. For small models with low number of
pressure channel requirements, the RADBASE can be minimal size

Essay On The Book Thief
Everybody goes through struggles, mine was learning to live without seeing my father everyday,
when my parents got divorced. In The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak you are introduced to a
character who is constantly struggling in a time period where losing someone you love is common.
The book picks up in Germany 1939, while Hitler was in power. Zusak does not make it easy to read
this book, he pulls you in and gets you attached to the characters, and when they die you feel the
loss. He uses excellent imagery such as "She died in a suburb of Sydney. The house number was
forty–five – the same as the Fiedlers' shelter – and the sky was the best blue of afternoon.". The
author is trying to get the message across that humans can be good and bad at the same time, this
can be proven by seeing Deaths comments on humans ability to do just this. Through his use of
imagery, atmosphere, and tone, Zusak shows the reader the mountain liesel has to climb, the
struggles Liesel has to go through; such as death, not having enough support, and losing friends. He
shows us the horrible conditions she went through to finally get her happy ending at the end of this
book.
Death is always an obstacle, and Liesel witnesses a fair amount of death in her lifetime. At the very
beginning of the book it opens up with Liesel's brother dying, while they are on their way to a foster
home. "The book thief and her brother were traveling down toward Munich, where they would soon
be given over to foster parents. We

Hans' Dual Personality in The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
There are generally two sides to every human; the good and the bad. Despite a person's actions,
which may characterize them as evil, the good is the side that will ordinarily be recognized. Hans is
one of the many characters in the novel, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, who has a dual
personality. The novel takes place in 1939 Nazi Germany, in which Hitler was the leader. Although
it was a hard time for all, characters still showed glimpse of kindness that portrayed their humane
qualities. Specifically, through Hans' actions, he expresses his kindness and rancor, which reflects
and emphasizes his duality. Hans' kindness is shown in many different occasions throughout the
novel. He is the essence of kindness. Every night when Liesel wakes up from her nightmares, Hans
comforts her, by reading to her, and sits by her side until she falls asleep. Death, the narrator, says
that, "Liesel observed the strangeness of her foster father's eyes. They were made of kindness, and
silver. Like soft silver, melting. Liesel, upon seeing those eyes, understood that Hans Hubermann
was worth a lot," (34). Hans' eyes represent the benevolence and gentleness of his soul. The
coolness of silver in which Zusak brings up is much like his calm attitude he has towards Liesel. He
is extremely valuable to Liesel whether it was as a guide, a friend, and a father. When Hans
discovers the book she found, he doesn't punish her, instead he promises to keep her secret if she
promises to keep his secret of

Your body needs five nutrients to survive: protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Plants
can be a great source of all of these, but it is important to know which plants or plant parts are
edible.
Believe it or not, thistles are edible, and easy to identify. In 1870, a man named Truman Everts was
part of the early exploration of the Yellowstone region. At some point during the expedition, he
became lost. For a month, he subsisted on thistles. Why thistles? He lost had lost his glasses and was
able to identify thistles by touch.
All parts of the thistle plant are edible, even the spiny leaves. To prevent your mouth, throat and

The Crucible, The Lord Of The Flies, And The Book Thief
Expository Seminar Presentation Good afternoon everyone, I'm Jordan Zelenak and today I'm here
to talk to you about how my past 5 years of English study have affected my overall attitudes values
and beliefs. Although English isn't my best subject nor the most enjoyable, I can't deny that it has
been extremely valuable when it came to teaching key attitudes and beliefs and reinforcing ones
which already existed. To highlight this, I have selected the play, The Crucible, the movie, The Lord
of the Flies, and the novel, The book Thief. For each I will analyse how each have affected my
attitudes values and beliefs, how each have affected how I view the world and how each
successfully use impactful aesthetic devices. 'The Crucible', was written ... Show more content on

The study of the crucible also allowed me to learn of the struggles of puritan lifestyle and how their
Witch Trials which killed numerous innocent lives were extremely similar to the McCarthy hearings
of the 1950's. It allowed me to realise how the Puritan lifestyle was extremely strict as the
government was intertwined with the church and religious beliefs meaning questioning officials was
deemed as questioning their religion their society was based on. The witch trials also allowed me to
gain an understanding of the McCarthy hearings as during these trials people were wrongly accused
of being communist spies forcing them to lose their job and tarnishing their reputation in the
process. As is evident the study of the crucible has also helped me to learn about the time and era the
play was set as well as the tragedy of the McCarthy trials from which it was based. The crucible also
demonstrated aesthetic devices that are memorable to me even though I studied it a year ago. The
most notable aesthetic device which I can recall is during Giles Corey's execution by weighted
stones. As stones were placed on top of a board placed on his chest he was asked one final time to
respond to the charges that were falsely placed against him however his last words were "More
Weight" which in turn killed him as the sheer weight crushed his body. In this scene the weight

Analysis Of The Book Thief
The Book Thief: a break in history The Book Thief by Markus Zusak presents a magnificent story
with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments in which the author captures the reader's attention
until the last chapter. The unusual narrator gives the novel a unique point of view and impressive
description of human nature as well the narrator illustrate in a brilliant way the equal qualities of
humans. The novel presents the impressive consequences about corrupt power and destruction;
however, the significant concept focus on the story around strong women, and particularly the way
in which war affects their lives. The novel exposes the pain and suffering experienced by mothers,
sisters and daughters; consequently, it represents a break from history which has always
concentrated on the misery of men. The author describes impactful moments in which strong women
proves the determination to survive. Women particularly needed to persist living in a poor economy,
in constant pain about loss with perseverance, helping those in need. Women provide evidence of
tenacity and dedications, and Zusak in the novel describes them in an inspiring way. In modernity,
women have diverse opportunities in which are able to develop different occupations; however, in
1939, beginning of second world war, the situation was different because it took place the second
industrial revolution in which most of the considerable labor were for men; furthermore, women

Violence : Violence And Violence In The Book Thief
Violence in The Book Thief Even though violence is meant to hurt and injure someone it can also
result in a sick type of peace in many events. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak has a perfect scene
where violence shows the overall meaning of the work. In this novel, violence was contributed
throughout the book through realization and bravery. Liesel Meminger, the main character, is just a
regular german girl with poor foster parents living on Himmel Street. Throughout the novel Liesel's
life is a whirlwind of ups and downs. She loves and she hates. She gives and she steals. One violent
scene occurs that leaves Liesel to realize many events in her life that could have been easily changed
if it wasn't for the people she loved. A few violent scenes occur, but the one that started trickling
realization into Liesel brain is the scene in part 10. Liesel is searching through the marchings Jews
for a familiar face she once knew and loved. Not finding Max in the crowd of Jews took away from
the rest of the pain in Liesel's life. On this unfortunate day Liesel searches the crowd and
immediately feels her heart drop when she sees Max's twigs of hair and swampy eyes studying the
crowd for the same reason Liesel was. The German girl rushes through the blur of Jews and makes
her way to Max. blocking out the german soldiers, Liesel restates Max's story he wrote for her. In
this moment, Liesel was so brave that she feared no one, including German soldiers. "She was

This super comfortable and warm hat is a quick and easy knitting project that an individual can do
without having to crochet or do traditional knitting. As a beginner, using looms is the easiest way to
work with yarn projects. There are a bunch of types of looms that can be used to make hats, scarves,
ear warms, bag, etc. A bunch of projects can be done on a loom without having any experience in
knitting or crochet. This hat can be done on a round loom, the size will depend if it is done for an
adult or a child. For this project, the hat will be for an adult size.

Start from the peg that is to the left of the anchor peg. Push the hook under the two bottom strands
of the yarn and pull it up over the top strands of the yarn. The groove in the beg is very helpful for
this process. Now loop the bottom yarn over all around the loom. To continue knitting, wrap around
all the pegs again from the begging on the beg right above the anchor peg and then bring the bottom
yarn loop over the top of the peg again. Once there is about an inch or two of stitches done, take the
yarn of the anchor peg so that it is not pulling as the project is continued. About fifteen rows need to
be knitted to continue to the next step.
Step 5: Knitting the brim
After knitting a few rows, fold them over so there is a doubled over bit of knitting. This makes the
hat look more finished and also helps keep the hat in place on the head. To knit the brim, bring up
the tail from the initial part of the hat and loop it around to the right of the anchor peg. Put the loops
all the way around the loom then finish the brim by using the hook to loop the pull the bottom yarn

Examples Of Guilt In The Book Thief
"Why do I want to live? I shouldn't want to but I do." (Zusak 487) The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
is encircled with the idea of trying to find freedom from one's guilt. Several characters' in this novel
such as Hans Hubermann, Max Vandenburg, as well as Ilsa Hermann all experience guilt throughout
the story which slowly eats away at their lives and it's up to them as to how they will deal with their
guilt. Guilt came in to Hans Hubermann's life when he escapes death in World War I. Hans friend
Erik, saves Hans life and now, Hans carries the guilt of Erik's death and promises to help Erik's
family. Little did Hans know, that in the near future he would save Erik's son, Max Vandenburg from
death. Previously, Max Vandenburg left his family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Hans' guilt does not disappear as easily as one may hope. The guilt from Erik's death only
puts himself and his family in danger, and results in Hans asking Max to leave in the end. By doing
so, Hans feels even guiltier which "at first, his punishment was conscience. His oblivious unearthing
of Max Vandenburg plagued him." (Zusak 416) Hans tries to get rid of his guilt by attempting to
help the family, but instead confines himself. Hans can no longer deal with the fear of hiding a Jew
and by asking Max to leave, puts Max's life in danger. This guilt of putting Max in danger slowly
chews away at his conscience. No matter what Hans did, it would not get rid of guilt. "Guilt is
cancer." (Grohl) Guilt is unavoidable. The unavoidable uniform man comes knocking on a Jewish
family's home on the night of broken glass. Max Vandenburg is finally having the opportunity to
escape danger, at the cost of leaving his family by themselves. As he was leaving his home, he did
not turn around "for one last look at his family as he left the apartment. Perhaps then the guilt would
not have been so heavy." (Zusak 193) Later on, Max feels guiltier as he receives news of his family's
disappearance, and guilt continues to grow as he seeks refuge in the Hubermanns basement. Max is
aware of the Hubermann is from Germany while he is a Jew and of the terrible punishment the

My Last Rodeo
Last Rodeo
When I tell people I've competed in rodeos, everyone always seems to think of a rodeo with cows
and horses. However, when I talk about rodeos I actually mean Lineman Rodeos. Some people have
asked me if it has something to do with lineman that play football. Then I have to explain to them
that a Lineman is a person that works on the power lines, the overhead or underground lines that
supply electricity to homes and businesses then most people understand what kind of Lineman I am.
A Lineman Rodeo is a competition that consist of five different events on the top of a 40–foot wood

first event of the morning was the hurt–man rescue. For this event, the time starts when I first touch
my climbing gear and time ends when the 185 lbs. manikin touches the ground. The time limit for
this event was four minutes which I completed it in one minute and ten seconds with no deductions
for safety violations. After the completion of my first event I was feeling good about the day. From
there, my second and third events went really well, good times with no deductions. My fourth event
was a knot tying event. I did exceptionally well in that event, beating my other competitors by two
minutes or so. My last event was a streetlight and photo–cell change–out. I was a little nervous and
the pressure was on because I knew that I had done good all day and had a good possibility to place
in the competition and get on stage for a trophy; which would be an amazing experience for my last
rodeo as an apprentice. On this event I had to score a 100 with a good time to place in the
competition, and I

Learning And Teaching Process : My Partner Madelyn And I
Upon assignment of our Skill Teach project, my partner Madelyn and I, began discussing several
activities in which we could teach one another. This discussion lasted close to half an hour before
we determined a motor skill that I would be able to instruct Madelyn through. The final motor skill
we pin pointed was knot tying. This motor skill was something that I had experience with, and that
Madelyn was unknowledgeable but interested in learning. The following information, it a brief
overview of the learning and teaching process that occurred.
With a wide topic like knot tying, I soon found that I needed to narrow down what specific knots I
would teach Madelyn before beginning. After much debate, I concluded that the most useful knot
series to teach Madelyn at this time, would be a figure eight knot. From this I was able to create the
following teaching objective: The instructor will teach the student to independently tie three
versions of a figure eight knot; 1) basic figure eight knot, 2) figure eight knot on a bight, and 3)
figure eight follow through knot, within five lessons using a 48" length of 1/8th inch paracord. From
this objective, I was able to create the following learning objective for the student: The student will
be able to independently tie three versions of a figure eight knot; 1) basic figure eight knot, 2) figure
eight knot on a bight, 3) figure eight follow through, within five lessons using a 48" length of 1/8th

The Use of Foreshadowing, Irony, and Symbolism in The Book...
The Book Thief Short Essay: The Use of Foreshadowing, Irony, and Symbolism in The Book Thief
4/17/14
In The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, the narrator uses foreshadowing, irony, and symbolism.
"Here's a small fact, you are going to die" (3). As readers, we are engaged in the story because we
are part of the story. The narrator, who is a personified death, is referring to the readers when he says
"you". Here, it is foreshadowed that many people, including the reader, will die in the near future.
This is verbally ironic because death refers to this as a "small fact", even though the subject of death
is usually considered a significant and sensitive topic. This statement symbolizes the insignificance
that narrator feels towards human life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, verbal irony is shown when death says, "It kills me sometimes, how people die" (464). This
is ironic because even though the narrator, death, isn't actually dying himself, the sight of humans
dying just "kills" him. It must be hard for death to see people die every second of his life, and
perhaps the readers can feel sympathy for death. This quote shows a thematic idea of death, which
shows up again and again throughout The Book Thief. Irony creates a better reading experience for
the audience and furthers on thematic ideas.
Symbolism is very important in the Book Thief because certain symbols keep the reader engaged
and furthers on thematic ideas. One important symbol in The Book Thief is bread, which symbolizes
humanity. When a jew parade lumbers down Himmel Street, Hans gives away a slice of bread to an
old jewish man who is suffering. Hans, who is very hungry along with the rest of Germany, could
have eaten the bread instead of giving it away. This shows that where there is great evil in the world,
there is is also great kindness. There are multiple times when bread is used to care for someone else.
Next, another meaningful symbol in The Book Thief is Liesel's books. Over time, as she begins to
learn to read and write, Liesel steals many books. Her first book, "The Gravedigger's Handbook",
symbolizes the life that Liesel used to have because she stole

Lace Up Your Shoes Essay
Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50% of
Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If
your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them
from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way.
About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events
and races mostly 5K's. Six months into my new hobby, I decided I was a "real runner" and because I
was a "real runner," I needed to subscribe to a real running magazine. It's a well–known fact that
every diehard runner has to subscribe to a running magazine of some sort. ... Show more content on

First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other." After reading this, it dawned
on me that most of us
were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings taught
us, but didn't necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don't worry. It only
takes a minor tweak to tie the right knot – a "Reef Knot." All shoelace knots start the same; laces
crossed over–under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same
direction that you crossed the laces, you will end up with a "Granny Knot." A Granny Knot has an
unbalanced bow, e.g., the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it's perfectly inline with
the shoe (see illustration below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots,
"granny knotters" are the people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the
people whose shoes come untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third
base heading for home plate in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his
shoes in the middle of the race. Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming
untied. This works until its time to untie the knot, and we all know how hard it can be to untie a
double knot, especially with cold hands.

Installing Your Own Hair Extensions Essays
Having long, healthy hair could possibly be one of the envied genes amongst women. Many women
take supplements or undergo surgery to provide them with the added confidence of having luxurious
hair. Although, those methods have been proven to work, there are many other less invasive methods
available for obtaining beautiful hair. The use of hair extensions have become a popular trend in
today's society. Many celebrities, TV personalities and even politicians have owned up to adding a
few hair extensions here and there. Hair extensions can be used to add length and volume to thin,
short and receding hair. However, finding a beautician to install them can be bit pricy for the

The most common method of creating a base for a whole head weave is to braid the hair in cornrows
from the front to the back, while leaving out a small section at the top to cover the tracks. However,
this method can not be done for a partial hair weave. To complete a partial sew in you would need to
braid the area of hair that will hold the extensions in a side to side pattern.
Step 2 After the base has been made, you will need to sew the remaining ends of the cornrow on to
it. Start by threading the needle. You would do this by inserting the thread through the eye of the
needle. Once you have that completed fold the thread in two and measure out approximately 18
inches. At the end, tie the two pieces together in a knot.
Step 3
Fold the end of the braid on top of the cornrow and sew it down using a basic stitch method. Once
you have reached the end of the braid you should make a knot to keep it from coming undone.
Step 4
Open the pack of hair extensions and comb out any knots or tangles pay special attention to any
rubber bands or pins used to keep the hair together.
Step 5
Next you will have to locate the weft on the hair extension. The weft is the sturdy area at the top of
the extension. This is where the hair has been looped together with thread. It resembles a seam.
Step 6
Once the weft has been located, you will then need to lay the extension on top of the cornrow to
measure the length of the braid. Once the length

Compare And Contrast The Sea Of Monsters By Jacky Jackson
In Rick Riordan's second book of the Percy Jackson series, Sea of Monsters, is about three teenagers
in a world of ancient gods trying to find the Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is known to heal
anything which is why Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson need it. To save Camp Half–blood, these teens
go on a quest to find the Golden Fleece and return it to camp. And in James Patterson's book, Max,
is about a teenager girl that can fly, and also has a group of friends that can fly too. They are known
as the flock. In Max, Max's mom gets kidnapped. Because of this, Max and the flock go on a quest
to find and get her mom back. In these two books, there were differences in the kinds of themes that
the authors used along with different craft moves used to achieve the same thing. But there were
similarities with the archetypal characters that both authors used.
One thing that is different with the two books, Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan, and Max by James
Patterson is the different themes that the authors used. An example of this is, In Sea of Monsters
there is the theme of war. And in Max there is a theme of love. I think that Rick Riordan's story
doesn't have the theme of love because Percy is still new to the half–blood life, and is still making
friends. Because of this, I think that the author is trying to focus at the theme of friendship instead. I
think that there is war in the story because Percy is trying to prevent the war from getting stronger
and more dangerous. James Patterson

Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots
l'Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my
favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the
knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical
study of knot theory. So my question now is, "How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced
and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots?" Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as
tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are
joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be
described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3–D dimensional Euclidean
space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3–D space;
therefore making it 3–D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you
can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus
creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of
describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can
be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine
when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to
help solve the problem, but

We were supposed to find the entrance to the Underworld. My mother . . . For a scary second, I had

causing World War III." This shows Percy awakening from the Lotus, and remembering his mission,
unlike Odysseus who was never affected or blinded. While he was fooled and blinded, Percy still
woke from the affects and helped his friends wake up and escape. Percy and Odysseus were
different from one another in many ways. Odysseus and Percy both similarly encountered the Lotus
Eaters while on a quest and must rescue their friends, but they meet them in different places and
save their friends differently. Both heroes had saved their friends from the Lotus, but their saving
methods differed from the others. Many heroes have similarities but they are also different from one

Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags
A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines
and other customers' screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags?
Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard–earned plastic bags if you
could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won't be
wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug–of–war, tire swing, etc.
If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic
grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long
you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need
some floor space.
Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags
and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of
the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more
difficult.
For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the
seam under the plastic bag's handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base
of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that
you have finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done,

Essay Summary of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Summary "Like most misery, it started with apparent happiness" (84). In the beginning, we are
introduced to the narrator by the name of Death. He informs the readers that he has many stories, but
only remembers the ones that interest him. The tale of Liesel Meminger is one such tale, as he was
always fascinated by her will to live through the most horrible instances. It should be duly noted
however, that this story does not have a happy ending. Death makes this clear before we even have a
chance to get our hopes up. He tells us that everyone dies; the amount of time that they last is truly
the only difference. After this sordid fact is in place, he mentions just Liesel first attracted his

along with future plots of thievery and continuously trying to get a kiss from her. She has a sort of
rivalry between herself and Rudy in the beginning, but after they become the best of friends. This
will prove helpful later, as they join a group of fruit thieves to keep from starving, and also when
they break into Ilsa Hermann's library for books. This is in fact the way she earned her title as the

Liesel starts spending most of her time there, continuing to harness and refine her reading skills.

The Book Thief By Markus Zusak
Words can influence the mind in many ways that thought may not be able to. They are carefully
placed and shared in different ways by each and every individual. Words have powerful impacts and
can majorly impact how one may think, feel, or even lead others to feel. Written by Markus Zusak,
"The Book Thief" describes a story of an innocent foster girl, Liesel Meminger, who resides in
Munich, Germany at one of the most troubling time periods in history, Nazi Germany. A tale
narrated by the one and only Death himself, shows the perspective from his point of view, as well as
others, describing how Liesel had been seized away from her birth mother at a young age, and put
into a foster family. Her new family, the Hubermanns. As she matures and grows into a more critical
thinker, understanding and analyzing everything that carefully happens around her. Her foster–
father, Hans guides her and teaches her how to read, which little does she know sparks her journey,
the art of stealing books. Liesel soon discovers that words aren 't simply lines on a page, they are
strong emotions packed into a form that merely is held in her delicate hands. Not only did she hold
the pages of emotion, she held a power, a dangerous weapon of words, a weapon of control, and
every book that she had stolen was giving her unimaginable power that made her think in ways that
she would've never thought she could have. As with Nazi propaganda, and a gift that enabled her to
broaden her worldview. Liesel evolves

The Book Thief Analysis
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a very emotional and intense story. It takes place in Germany
during the time of the Holocaust and portrays how hard life was for some children and adults during
that time. In the story Liesel becomes friends with a Jew who her foster parents are hiding from
Hitler. She loses her Papa to the military as a punishment for him giving a Jew a piece of bread and
her friend Max who is sent to a concentration camp after being captured by the Nazi's. Liesel along
her hard life journey steals books during key moments in her life and it becomes a hobby of hers. I
certainly believe this book should be a required reading novel for high school students, because of
its important themes that relate to real life situations for people of any ages today. The Book Thief's
most important theme is; "Don't ever take what you have for granted." Zusak characterizes this
theme in several ways throughout this novel. In this story Liesel finds joy in very few things, one
being; stealing books from the library of Ilsa Hermann and/or any other location she may find one.
In times today things come easy to most people, especially if you have money. A large amount of the
world's population is constantly out to eat, or getting the latest technology, and don't realize back in

Speaker Mongs said. Lief was confused but gave it to him nonetheless. "Give me your hand," he

The Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Summary
The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame is a work of art done by Georges De La Tour. It was
completed in the year 1640 using oil paint on canvas in France, and it is now located at the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art. This painting is of a woman, possibly pregnant, sitting leaning on a
table her head rested on one hand. She also has a skull on her lap and the other hand placed on it. In
the back ground there is a small stack of books and candlelight. More than anything on this painting,
it is focused on the woman state of mind and heart rather than the skull or anything else. The simple
arrangement of how the artist used vertical and horizontal shapes draws the viewer really close into
the Magdalen's thoughts. The skull and the books purpose is to set the mood in what the woman
might be feeling. The focal point of the entire painting seems to be the candle because not only is it
bright, but the woman is gazing profoundly into it. Everything in the painting is smoothed surface.
The painter did not use texture in the paint but only in very few areas like in the oil of the candle.
The tones in this painting are warm. There are a lot of browns and ambers. A few cool colors were
used to define the shadows of the shapes with blue. The attention getter is the candle light. It's
almost hard to ignore because it is so bright. The second brightest thing in the painting is the
woman's shirt, but even that is not as bright because of all the shadows and creases in it. Another
reason why

Boy with Dyslexia and ADHD in Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
This book begins with Percy Jackson, a 12 year old boy with dyslexia and ADHD, as he began to
suspect that his life was not what it seems when his class took a field trip to the Metropolitan
Museum of Art and his teacher, Mrs. Dodds transformed into one of the three Furies of Greek
legend and attacked him. Percy's Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, threw him a magic sword named

Mrs. Dodds and his best friend Grover Underwood began to act strangely, saying cryptic comments
about Percy being in danger. Percy's home life was far from perfect. He struggled to understand why
his mother, who obviously loved him, took such pains to send him away every year to a different
boarding school. When Percy and his mother went for a weekend retreat to the beach, their time
together was interrupted by a storm and a horrible wailing in the middle of the night. Grover
appeared at their door and revealed himself as a satyr. He has been keeping an eye on Percy until
Percy was old enough to attend Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for training demigods. Grover
told Percy that monstrous forces were now after him and they had no choice but to flee to Camp

here." (line 68) Mrs. Hale says that there is no sign of anger but that clearly is the case. A normal
person won't just clean half the table and leave the other half of uncleaned. There had a to be a
reason for this. Even though Mrs. Hale doesn't realize it, she was on to something. Mrs. Wright was
mad at Mr. Wright so she didn't clean his side of the table. The ladies find that Mrs. Wright had a
quilt. "Mrs. Hale It's log–cabin pattern. Pretty, isn't it? I wonder if she was goin' to quilt it or just
knot it?" (line 72) Mrs. Wright could have quilted it or knotted it. She ended up knotting it. Ms.

The Power of Words: the Book Thief
Words are more influential than thought. Words can have such a powerful impact on how you
interpret things, how you feel, and how you can make others feel as well. The word choice used in
The Book Thief demonstrates many themes throughout such as death, friendship, guilt, reason, and
the struggle between ones inner self and the society in which he is surrounded. As complex as this
may sound, the method was used in a simplistic fashion to construct the meaning and details of
certain situations through the senses that ultimately capture how the characters take in the world
around them. The power of words in the novel The Book Thief is used to control individuals and
gain power if rooted from bad intentions; however, the power of words also ... Show more content

When there were bomb raids approaching the town, the people gathered in a small basement and
Liesel began to read to everyone there. It is amazing how her words would calm everyone present
and made them forget that they could possibly die at any given moment. When everything in her life
is at a downfall, reading and writing takes Liesel out of this cruel world. That is the main reason
why she is attracted to words and books. Words kept her alive in a dull world but also literally kept
her living. She was reading in that basement when the bombs hit her street so it saved her. She also
developed relationships with people with words and storytelling. In a time like this, a normal
conversation will not help. But in order to distract one from reality the best way to do that is to share
stories. Max Vandenburg is not in great condition when he arrives, but creates a special bond with
Liesel through words. The two have frequent nightmares about their past and losing the ones that
they care about the most. Though all this has happened, they both enjoy to story tell and that's how
their bond grows. "Trust me, though, the words were on their way, and when they arrived, Liesel
would hold them in her hands like the clouds, and she would wring them out, like the rain (85)".
Liesel's words effected her situation and the perspective of it so much. As words bought friendship
to Liesel, it also bought

A Short Story : A Story?
*Slam*. The door shuts. The room was silent, you could hear a pin drop. Leah left and I heard the
car start up. We've never gotten in a fight like this. Tears started streaming down my face. The tears
started streaming down my face harder and harder by the second. AGHHHHH I screamed. I slowly
got up from the table the chair squeaking making the same sound it made when Leah left. WOOSH.
I think that was the fastest I've EVER turned around. I saw a small shadow. Nobody else was home.
but there was still a shadow? I walked around the corner...nothing. I ran upstairs and WOOSH again.
I checked my bedroom and Leah's bedroom. There was nothing in there. Everything went black.
Unknown said "hello, we finally get to meet. How's your mom? How about your dad... oh yeah he's
dead. Your mom will be soon.
I saw a dark figure walking toward me then a face appeared in the small amount of light.... It was
Leah. I said "Leah?!?!? Is that you? Did that person kidnap you? Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
My mind spinning 100 miles an hour. Would Leah really do this? Why me?
Leah said "you hurt me. This was my only choice. Mom killed dad... all because of you."
I could see flames in her eyes. They were burning bright... as if the fire was just started. I could tell
it was only going to get bigger. I didn't mean to. It wasn't my fault. I heard mumbling from the
corner. I turned my head slowly but still looking at Leah. It was someone from Leah's school. She
goes to a public school so it wasn't

The Importance Of Death In The Book Thief
Cruelty is laid upon Death while he has no choice. This is what Death has to do for his job and he
has no choice. In "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, Death is seen as a cruel character. In these
next three paragraphs, I will show how Death is caring for humans through his interactions with the
world, Liesel, and Max. As you read on think to yourself how Death has made an impact in your life
or in a close friend or family member's life. In the story, Death shows love for the entire world even
though he says, " I'm haunted by humans". Death hates that people see him as a bad, inimical, and
destructive person and he would love to change their opinions but just can't because his life is a
circle that never ends. So whenever he gets a chance to show care towards people he does his best to
make it happen even if he gets judged or torn down. He tells us at the beginning of the novel that the
most painful part of his job is seeing "the survivors," "the leftover humans," "the ones who are left
behind, crumbling among the jigsaw puzzle of realization, despair, and surprise." You could argue
that Death is in the unlucky position of having human–like emotions, but never being allowed to be
a part of humanity. This quote shows that when he sees the world is crumbling to bits and pieces he
his hurt and he even says it the most painful part of his job. He obviously cares for the world and the
people who live and die because he is in

How to Tie the Sneaky Rig Carp Fishing Rig Tutorial

  • 1. Korda Solid Bags How to Tie the Sneaky Rig – #1 Rig Tutorials This week we're going to let you into a little secret called the "Sneaky Rig". Why the name the sneaky rig you ask, well it's made up of common components but with a little edge that I guaranty will never have been used on your lake before. This rig has resulted in large carp captures from very pressured and difficult venues. Designed for the wariest of carp that's seen every trick in the book. This rig is tangle proof and ideal for most lake bottoms. Let's get started The components you will need for this rig is the following: Size 6 hook (Korda Kurv or Krank patterns work are ideal) Korda N–trap soft 15lb/20lb 3oz square pear lead ESP anti tangle sleeves Korda shockleader sleeves Korda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Step 7: Make a solid bag You will need a PVA solid bag for this step I personally like the Korda Solid Bags (small). Firstly add the hooklink into the bag and hook it to the bottom. Make sure the hair is not tangled then start adding your pellets. Fill up half the bag with pellets then squeeze the bag and knock it gently on a side of a bucket so the pellets get into every little gap. Now add the lead into the bag and lightly fill the bag a little more pellets up to ¾ full but make sure you don't fill it up to much. Twist the bag and knock it again to make it solid then lick the twisted area. If you're casting the bag at a long distance you can make it even more aerodynamic by folding back the corners and securing them with a little saliva. Conclusion So there you go you have now learnt an awesomely effective 'Sneaky' rig that catches big carp. Hope you've learnt something from the guide and if you have made any adjustments or tweaks of your own to the Sneaky Rig then let us know in the comments below we love to hear about them! Remember to check out our tackle reviews and more carpy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Air Raids In The Book Thief The air Raids were not ethical in the book thief. The air raids were constant and came out randomly. "Several days before Christmas, 1942, there's another air raid" (Zusak 442). These air raids have killed many people who might have not supported the ideas the Nazis were fighting for. Theft is never right. The world would be in chaos and panic if we all took what we wanted, like liesel did. For liesel, stealing books excited her and gave the books more meaning. "Although something inside her told that this was a crime, her three books were the most precious item she owned" (Zusak 109). This shows how she loved books and even if getting them by stealing was a crime she would still do it. Protecting a person is never not right. At times it could be risky, but an innocent deserves being protected. "Hubermann held his hand out and presented a piece of bread, like magic" (Zusak 349). Hans did this because he thought it was the right thing to do, which defines his character. Liesel growing up without her biological parents does affect the way she perceives others. Liesel does not want to lose anyone else, like she did her mother and father. "Don't go, papa. Please." (Zusak 423). Hans is someone that Liesel cannot let go and does not want to lose her parents again. Hans is right to help out Jews, like Max because Max was in the position that he could be saved. Max can survive by hiding with the Hubermanns. However, giving bread to heavily guarded Jews was pointless because it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Is A Treasure? I went on my way, pondering those questions, as I read the next clue. It had a C on it and it read "Search narrowly the lines! –– they hold a treasure," I thought about the word, treasure, my valentine was a treasure to me but surely that wasn't it. At last, it came to me, the statue in town square, it was said to be a treasure of the town, that was where the next clue was. I took off again, hurtling myself towards the town square. When I finally made it there was a great group of people milling about the square. Not a single one would pay me attention, I pushed my way to the front of square, I had to get that clue before someone else picked it up. I finally reached it, the statue of our town founder, and in his left hand was the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Slow down my boy," the tailor scolded. "I'm sorry," I told him, "but love knows no speed and my valentine needs my speed right now." "Ahh, it is you," he said "the one the inquisitors told me of. Here is your clue." He handed the clue and I bid him farewell and headed back out into the night after my valentine. It had a large letter S, the second word. All I could think of was holding my valentine and being close to her again. I flipped it over scribbled on the back was the following, "The words –– the syllables! Do not forget," again the final words enticed my thoughts. Do not forget, do not forget, what could it mean? I milled about the town pondering until I had made my way to the edge of town there I found my answer, I found it as I came across the statue of Mnemosyne, goddess of memory, the words, do not forget, inscripted on the bottom and beside the inscription was my next clue with a large A on it, halfway my love, I thought, halfway. The back of the tiny piece of paper was the following, "The trivialest point, or you may lose your labor!" I immediately thought of the railroad, those jobs required much labor, I made my way to the very edge of town where the building of the railroad had been and surely enough pinned between some wood planks was my next clue which had a big R on it, and written on the back, hardly even legible was "And yet there is in this no Gordian knot," the slanted words required much thought to remember the legend of the Gordian knot. ... • 7. The Book Thief Essay Death states that, "I'm always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both" (Zusak 491). This book shows us human doing things that weren't even imaginable before this point. Many people give into ideas that were lies. But, we also watch a few people go out of their way and sacrifice everything for a man they barely even know. They do everything they can to keep him safe and alive. They work harder, the get another job, and they even steal. In Markus Zusak's The Book Thief, death examines the ugliness and the beauty of humans. During Markus Zusak's book we observe the beauty of humans at many times. One of the most beautiful things a human does is when Max, the jew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Close your eyes," she'd said. "Hold out your hands" (Zusak 312). This is the start of one of the greatest days of Liesel's life. After bringing down a little snow she decides that Max deserves more. She brings down pots filled with snow and they make a snowman right there in their basement just for Max. He loves it and Leisel feels good for doing it. There are also times where Liesel and other people in the book do things that were so magnificent. There is a part where we watch as humans are so ugly that it is hard for us to imagine that what they had done is possible. Liesel is playing soccer in the park and all of a sudden all the kids stop because of a noise they hear coming down the street. They think it could be a herd of cattle, but that not what it is. It is a group of Jewish people being led, or forced, to the death camps by German soldiers. On there way we watch a man die "He was dead. The man was dead. Just give him five minutes and he would surely fall into the German gutter and die. They would all let him, and they would all watch"(Zusak 393). This is talking about how when a Jewish person would die, the Germans wouldn't do anything. They wouldn't care that a man died right in front of them. While the Jews are walking Hans, Liesel adopted father, gives them bread. While Hans is giving this man bread a German soldier notices what is going on. This will be more tangible if it is pointed out that time histories of pressure coefficient are directly dependent on the velocity measurements and turbulence intensity at reference height in the lab. Therefore, wind speed measurement has to be performed with high resolution devices that can catch little changes in wind characteristics; to do so, in the current study Cobra probe technology was used. More details regarding the high tech instruments that were used for experimental setup are presented as follows. Two types of pressure scanners that are extremely compact were used: one from ZOC22b series, and three from ZOC33 series [83]. The ZOC miniature electronic pressure scanning modules are specifically designed for use in wind–tunnel tests and flight tests where operational conditions are very space–constrained and pressures do not ex¬ceed 50 PSI (344738 Pa). The ZOC22b module incorporates 32 individual silicon pressure sensors, calibration valving, a high speed multiplexer (45 kHz), and an instrumentation amplifier. An integral "duplexing" valve is optionally available to allow the ZOC22's 32 sensors to service up to 128 input pressures. The ZOC22 module also incorporates a calibration valve that allows the ZOC sensors to be automatically calibrated on–line as well as purge the input lines of contaminants or condensation. Similarly, the ZOC33 is an electronic pressure scanner which can accept up to 128 pneumatic inputs. Each ZOC33 module used in the current study incorporates 64 individual piezoresistive pressure sensors. Each ZOC pressure scanner incorporates an embedded RTD to monitor the temperature of the pressure sensors [83]. The ZOC modules have been used in conjunction with RADBASE as shown in Figure 4.3 [83]. • 13. Essay On The Book Thief Everybody goes through struggles, mine was learning to live without seeing my father everyday, when my parents got divorced. In The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak you are introduced to a character who is constantly struggling in a time period where losing someone you love is common. The book picks up in Germany 1939, while Hitler was in power. Zusak does not make it easy to read this book, he pulls you in and gets you attached to the characters, and when they die you feel the loss. He uses excellent imagery such as "She died in a suburb of Sydney. The house number was forty–five – the same as the Fiedlers' shelter – and the sky was the best blue of afternoon.". The author is trying to get the message across that humans can be good and bad at the same time, this can be proven by seeing Deaths comments on humans ability to do just this. Through his use of imagery, atmosphere, and tone, Zusak shows the reader the mountain liesel has to climb, the struggles Liesel has to go through; such as death, not having enough support, and losing friends. He shows us the horrible conditions she went through to finally get her happy ending at the end of this book. Death is always an obstacle, and Liesel witnesses a fair amount of death in her lifetime. At the very beginning of the book it opens up with Liesel's brother dying, while they are on their way to a foster home. "The book thief and her brother were traveling down toward Munich, where they would soon be given over to foster parents. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite a person's actions, which may characterize them as evil, the good is the side that will ordinarily be recognized. Hans is one of the many characters in the novel, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, who has a dual personality. The novel takes place in 1939 Nazi Germany, in which Hitler was the leader. Although it was a hard time for all, characters still showed glimpse of kindness that portrayed their humane qualities. Specifically, through Hans' actions, he expresses his kindness and rancor, which reflects and emphasizes his duality. Hans' kindness is shown in many different occasions throughout the novel. He is the essence of kindness. Every night when Liesel wakes up from her nightmares, Hans comforts her, by reading to her, and sits by her side until she falls asleep. Death, the narrator, says that, "Liesel observed the strangeness of her foster father's eyes. They were made of kindness, and silver. Like soft silver, melting. Liesel, upon seeing those eyes, understood that Hans Hubermann was worth a lot," (34). Hans' eyes represent the benevolence and gentleness of his soul. The coolness of silver in which Zusak brings up is much like his calm attitude he has towards Liesel. He is extremely valuable to Liesel whether it was as a guide, a friend, and a father. When Hans discovers the book she found, he doesn't punish her, instead he promises to keep her secret if she promises to keep his secret of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Crucible, The Lord Of The Flies, And The Book Thief Expository Seminar Presentation Good afternoon everyone, I'm Jordan Zelenak and today I'm here to talk to you about how my past 5 years of English study have affected my overall attitudes values and beliefs. Although English isn't my best subject nor the most enjoyable, I can't deny that it has been extremely valuable when it came to teaching key attitudes and beliefs and reinforcing ones which already existed. To highlight this, I have selected the play, The Crucible, the movie, The Lord of the Flies, and the novel, The book Thief. For each I will analyse how each have affected my attitudes values and beliefs, how each have affected how I view the world and how each successfully use impactful aesthetic devices. 'The Crucible', was written ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study of the crucible also allowed me to learn of the struggles of puritan lifestyle and how their Witch Trials which killed numerous innocent lives were extremely similar to the McCarthy hearings of the 1950's. It allowed me to realise how the Puritan lifestyle was extremely strict as the government was intertwined with the church and religious beliefs meaning questioning officials was deemed as questioning their religion their society was based on. The witch trials also allowed me to gain an understanding of the McCarthy hearings as during these trials people were wrongly accused of being communist spies forcing them to lose their job and tarnishing their reputation in the process. As is evident the study of the crucible has also helped me to learn about the time and era the play was set as well as the tragedy of the McCarthy trials from which it was based. The crucible also demonstrated aesthetic devices that are memorable to me even though I studied it a year ago. The most notable aesthetic device which I can recall is during Giles Corey's execution by weighted stones. As stones were placed on top of a board placed on his chest he was asked one final time to respond to the charges that were falsely placed against him however his last words were "More Weight" which in turn killed him as the sheer weight crushed his body. The unusual narrator gives the novel a unique point of view and impressive description of human nature as well the narrator illustrate in a brilliant way the equal qualities of humans. The novel presents the impressive consequences about corrupt power and destruction; however, the significant concept focus on the story around strong women, and particularly the way in which war affects their lives. The novel exposes the pain and suffering experienced by mothers, sisters and daughters; consequently, it represents a break from history which has always concentrated on the misery of men. The author describes impactful moments in which strong women proves the determination to survive. Women particularly needed to persist living in a poor economy, in constant pain about loss with perseverance, helping those in need. Women provide evidence of tenacity and dedications, and Zusak in the novel describes them in an inspiring way. In modernity, women have diverse opportunities in which are able to develop different occupations; however, in 1939, beginning of second world war, the situation was different because it took place the second industrial revolution in which most of the considerable labor were for men; furthermore, women were incapable to make significant ... Learning And Teaching Process : My Partner Madelyn And I Upon assignment of our Skill Teach project, my partner Madelyn and I, began discussing several activities in which we could teach one another. This discussion lasted close to half an hour before we determined a motor skill that I would be able to instruct Madelyn through. The final motor skill we pin pointed was knot tying. This motor skill was something that I had experience with, and that Madelyn was unknowledgeable but interested in learning. The following information, it a brief overview of the learning and teaching process that occurred. With a wide topic like knot tying, I soon found that I needed to narrow down what specific knots I would teach Madelyn before beginning. After much debate, I concluded that the most useful knot series to teach Madelyn at this time, would be a figure eight knot. The Book Thief Short Essay: The Use of Foreshadowing, Irony, and Symbolism in The Book Thief 4/17/14 In The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, the narrator uses foreshadowing, irony, and symbolism. "Here's a small fact, you are going to die" (3). As readers, we are engaged in the story because we are part of the story. The narrator, who is a personified death, is referring to the readers when he says "you". Here, it is foreshadowed that many people, including the reader, will die in the near future. This is verbally ironic because death refers to this as a "small fact", even though the subject of death is usually considered a significant and sensitive topic. This statement symbolizes the insignificance that narrator feels towards human life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, verbal irony is shown when death says, "It kills me sometimes, how people die" (464). This is ironic because even though the narrator, death, isn't actually dying himself, the sight of humans dying just "kills" him. It must be hard for death to see people die every second of his life, and perhaps the readers can feel sympathy for death. This quote shows a thematic idea of death, which shows up again and again throughout The Book Thief. Irony creates a better reading experience for the audience and furthers on thematic ideas. Symbolism is very important in the Book Thief because certain symbols keep the reader engaged and furthers on thematic ideas. One important symbol in The Book Thief is bread, which symbolizes humanity. When a jew parade lumbers down Himmel Street, Hans gives away a slice of bread to an old jewish man who is suffering. Hans, who is very hungry along with the rest of Germany, could have eaten the bread instead of giving it away. This shows that where there is great evil in the world, there is is also great kindness. There are multiple times when bread is used to care for someone else. Next, another meaningful symbol in The Book Thief is Liesel's books. In fact, about 50% of Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way. About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events and races mostly 5K's. Our parents or siblings taught us, but didn't necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don't worry. It only takes a minor tweak to tie the right knot – a "Reef Knot." All shoelace knots start the same; laces crossed over–under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same direction that you crossed the laces, you will end up with a "Granny Knot." A Granny Knot has an unbalanced bow, e.g., the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it's perfectly inline with the shoe (see illustration below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots, "granny knotters" are the people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the people whose shoes come untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third base heading for home plate in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his shoes in the middle of the race. Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming untied. • 45. Installing Your Own Hair Extensions Essays Having long, healthy hair could possibly be one of the envied genes amongst women. Many women take supplements or undergo surgery to provide them with the added confidence of having luxurious hair. Although, those methods have been proven to work, there are many other less invasive methods available for obtaining beautiful hair. The use of hair extensions have become a popular trend in today's society. Many celebrities, TV personalities and even politicians have owned up to adding a few hair extensions here and there. Hair extensions can be used to add length and volume to thin, short and receding hair. However, finding a beautician to install them can be bit pricy for the average individual. Being able to install them on your own can not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most common method of creating a base for a whole head weave is to braid the hair in cornrows from the front to the back, while leaving out a small section at the top to cover the tracks. However, this method can not be done for a partial hair weave. To complete a partial sew in you would need to braid the area of hair that will hold the extensions in a side to side pattern. Step 2 After the base has been made, you will need to sew the remaining ends of the cornrow on to it. Start by threading the needle. You would do this by inserting the thread through the eye of the needle. Once you have that completed fold the thread in two and measure out approximately 18 inches. At the end, tie the two pieces together in a knot. Step 3 Fold the end of the braid on top of the cornrow and sew it down using a basic stitch method. Once you have reached the end of the braid you should make a knot to keep it from coming undone. Step 4 Open the pack of hair extensions and comb out any knots or tangles pay special attention to any rubber bands or pins used to keep the hair together. Step 5 Next you will have to locate the weft on the hair extension. The weft is the sturdy area at the top of the extension. This is where the hair has been looped together with thread. It resembles a seam. Step 6 Once the weft has been located, you will then need to lay the extension on top of the cornrow to measure the length of the braid. Once the length

  • 48. Compare And Contrast The Sea Of Monsters By Jacky Jackson In Rick Riordan's second book of the Percy Jackson series, Sea of Monsters, is about three teenagers in a world of ancient gods trying to find the Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is known to heal anything which is why Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson need it. To save Camp Half–blood, these teens go on a quest to find the Golden Fleece and return it to camp. And in James Patterson's book, Max, is about a teenager girl that can fly, and also has a group of friends that can fly too. They are known as the flock. In Max, Max's mom gets kidnapped. Because of this, Max and the flock go on a quest to find and get her mom back. In these two books, there were differences in the kinds of themes that the authors used along with different craft moves used to achieve the same thing. But there were similarities with the archetypal characters that both authors used. One thing that is different with the two books, Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan, and Max by James Patterson is the different themes that the authors used. An example of this is, In Sea of Monsters there is the theme of war. And in Max there is a theme of love. I think that Rick Riordan's story doesn't have the theme of love because Percy is still new to the half–blood life, and is still making friends. Because of this, I think that the author is trying to focus at the theme of friendship instead. I think that there is war in the story because Percy is trying to prevent the war from getting stronger and more dangerous. James Patterson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots l'Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of knot theory. So my question now is, "How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots?" Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3–D dimensional Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3–D space; therefore making it 3–D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A trip that consisted of long lines and other customers' screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard–earned plastic bags if you could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won't be wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug–of–war, tire swing, etc. If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor space. Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more difficult. For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam under the plastic bag's handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He informs the readers that he has many stories, but only remembers the ones that interest him. The tale of Liesel Meminger is one such tale, as he was always fascinated by her will to live through the most horrible instances. It should be duly noted however, that this story does not have a happy ending. Death makes this clear before we even have a chance to get our hopes up. • 60. The Book Thief By Markus Zusak Words can influence the mind in many ways that thought may not be able to. They are carefully placed and shared in different ways by each and every individual. Words have powerful impacts and can majorly impact how one may think, feel, or even lead others to feel. Written by Markus Zusak, "The Book Thief" describes a story of an innocent foster girl, Liesel Meminger, who resides in Munich, Germany at one of the most troubling time periods in history, Nazi Germany. A tale narrated by the one and only Death himself, shows the perspective from his point of view, as well as others, describing how Liesel had been seized away from her birth mother at a young age, and put into a foster family. Her new family, the Hubermanns. As she matures and grows into a more critical thinker, understanding and analyzing everything that carefully happens around her. Her foster– father, Hans guides her and teaches her how to read, which little does she know sparks her journey, the art of stealing books. Liesel soon discovers that words aren 't simply lines on a page, they are strong emotions packed into a form that merely is held in her delicate hands. Not only did she hold the pages of emotion, she held a power, a dangerous weapon of words, a weapon of control, and every book that she had stolen was giving her unimaginable power that made her think in ways that she would've never thought she could have. As with Nazi propaganda, and a gift that enabled her to broaden her worldview. Liesel evolves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. The Book Thief Analysis The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a very emotional and intense story. It takes place in Germany during the time of the Holocaust and portrays how hard life was for some children and adults during that time. In the story Liesel becomes friends with a Jew who her foster parents are hiding from Hitler. She loses her Papa to the military as a punishment for him giving a Jew a piece of bread and her friend Max who is sent to a concentration camp after being captured by the Nazi's. Liesel along her hard life journey steals books during key moments in her life and it becomes a hobby of hers. I certainly believe this book should be a required reading novel for high school students, because of its important themes that relate to real life situations for people of any ages today. The Book Thief's most important theme is; "Don't ever take what you have for granted." Zusak characterizes this theme in several ways throughout this novel. In this story Liesel finds joy in very few things, one being; stealing books from the library of Ilsa Hermann and/or any other location she may find one. In times today things come easy to most people, especially if you have money. A large amount of the world's population is constantly out to eat, or getting the latest technology, and don't realize back in the day people were constantly wondering if they would even live much longer or when they would see their next meal. • 68. The Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Summary The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame is a work of art done by Georges De La Tour. It was completed in the year 1640 using oil paint on canvas in France, and it is now located at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This painting is of a woman, possibly pregnant, sitting leaning on a table her head rested on one hand. She also has a skull on her lap and the other hand placed on it. In the back ground there is a small stack of books and candlelight. More than anything on this painting, it is focused on the woman state of mind and heart rather than the skull or anything else. The simple arrangement of how the artist used vertical and horizontal shapes draws the viewer really close into the Magdalen's thoughts. The skull and the books purpose is to set the mood in what the woman might be feeling. The focal point of the entire painting seems to be the candle because not only is it bright, but the woman is gazing profoundly into it. Everything in the painting is smoothed surface. The painter did not use texture in the paint but only in very few areas like in the oil of the candle. The tones in this painting are warm. There are a lot of browns and ambers. A few cool colors were used to define the shadows of the shapes with blue. The attention getter is the candle light. It's almost hard to ignore because it is so bright. The second brightest thing in the painting is the woman's shirt, but even that is not as bright because of all the shadows and creases in it. Another reason why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mr. Wright has been murdered while he was asleep. Someone has a strung a rope around his neck. That someone is Mrs. Wright. Trifles illustrates that men have substantially more power than women. They first start by going in to the kitchen. Everyone observes the kitchen to see that it is a mess. The men leaves the room. The ladies wonder about the kitchen. Mrs. Wright requested that the ladies bring her an apron to her. After finding the apron they both wonder around the kitchen to find that the table was half cleaned. "Mrs. Hale [Who is standing by the table.] Well, I don't see any signs of anger around here. [She puts her hand on the dish towel which lies on the table, stands looking down at table, one half of which is clean, the other half messy.] It's wiped to here." • 80. The Importance Of Death In The Book Thief Cruelty is laid upon Death while he has no choice. This is what Death has to do for his job and he has no choice. In "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak, Death is seen as a cruel character. In these next three paragraphs, I will show how Death is caring for humans through his interactions with the world, Liesel, and Max. As you read on think to yourself how Death has made an impact in your life or in a close friend or family member's life. In the story, Death shows love for the entire world even though he says, " I'm haunted by humans". Death hates that people see him as a bad, inimical, and destructive person and he would love to change their opinions but just can't because his life is a circle that never ends. So whenever he gets a chance to show care towards people he does his best to make it happen even if he gets judged or torn down. He tells us at the beginning of the novel that the most painful part of his job is seeing "the survivors," "the leftover humans," "the ones who are left behind, crumbling among the jigsaw puzzle of realization, despair, and surprise." You could argue that Death is in the unlucky position of having human–like emotions, but never being allowed to be a part of humanity.
