We don’t know what knowledge is going to be essential BUT we do know what skills, attitudes, dispositions and values are going to assist our learners in their futures. “In times of change, learners inherit the world while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists” Hoffer

Why Concepts? -Knowledge is changing exponentially. ‘Curriculum is just a guess- it represents ‘one billionth of one percent of all there is to know’. - Preparing learners for their futures (not our past). Enduring Understandings- Learning to Learn. -Success for all (most efficient way to learn).

Strategic Goal One ‘Preparing Learners For Their Futures by developing a sound base in literacy, mathematics, the Knighton Way and pathways’. -Developing a strong base of literacy and mathematics. -Learners empowered to ‘take charge’ of their learning -Ensuring success for our learners (see targets). -Creating positive memories where learners have the opportunity to discover their talents, passions and interests via our pathways.

What is the purpose of the learning we are completing? What aspects of the KNS Way are we focussing on? • How- How are we going to engage the learners? What pedagogies will be effective? What technologies / resources will enhance learning experiences? • What- What knowledge is essential? What context will be most effective? Are we giving students opportunities to transfer skills learnt to new situations?
