The Wari Bateshwar site is located 75km from Dhaka near villages in Narsingdi District. [1] Excavations have uncovered artifacts indicating an ancient urban civilization dating back to at least the 1st century CE, including coins, pottery, and structural remains. [2] The coins in particular suggest a wealthy trading center with a money-based economy and administrative system. [3] Recent excavations have found the remains of a Buddhist temple and other brick structures, further implying the site was an important political and economic hub in ancient Bengal.

India, a land of diverse cultures and ancient civilizations, boasts a rich numismatic heritage that spans several centuries. Old notes collections serve as fascinating artifacts that not only showcase the evolution of monetary systems but also provide invaluable insights into the socio-economic and political history of the subcontinent.
Money, in itself, is nothing – it is a symbol. It can be a shell, a metal coin, or a piece of paper with a historic image on it. The value that people place on the symbol has nothing to do with the physical value of money.
Money derives its value by being a medium of exchange, a unit of measurement and a storehouse for wealth.
