Motorola Gateway Management System
(MGMS) Features
• Gateway Discovery
– At install time, gateways are configured with information on
a management system to connect to
– Gateway authenticates itself with the manager
– The Gateway Management system is NOT tightly coupled to
the access network management system
• Gateway Status
– The management system does a periodic health check with
the gateways
– The operator can pick a particular gateway and examine the
overall status
– There are MS1000 specific screens to check more detailed
communications status

– MGMS manages a “database” of software
– MGMS, as part of its periodic health check, determines the
need to download software to a gateway and will
automatically initiate the download
