This document summarizes internet usage statistics in the UK. It finds that the divide between online and offline users is growing, with 17.5% of the population having never used the internet. Usage increases with younger age and location in London/South of England. Barriers to usage include lack of interest, cost, age, gender, disability, and socioeconomic status. While most internet users go online for social contact and fun, only about half feel comfortable providing personal information online. Moving social services online poses challenges to increase digital inclusion.

Helen milner our digital future nov 2011Helen Milner
How can the UK truly create a digital future for our society? We need to work in partnership to help everybody reap the opportunities of a digital society
Unlocking potential, People are the keyHelen Milner
1m people started using the internet in the last 12 months. How can people help more people to get online? Can we close this gap? And why should anyone be interested?
With the internet becoming essential for education, communication, livelihoods and government services and entitlements, access to the internet is no longer a privilege or luxury. Those who do not have access to the internet (or have rudimentary or limited access) will fall further and further behind in the digital age. The CCDS study examines the extent of digital inequality in a rapidly-expanding Indian metropolis and explores the barriers to internet access for the poor and marginalised.
The Future of the Internet Economy Egypt 2014Mahmoud A. Rabo

The report is produced in line with the OECD’s "statistical Profile for the Internet Economy" in an attempt to standardize the ICT indicators according to international organizations.
There's no point in wiring up the nation if even people who currently have broadband running past their door don't use it. How can we solve the digital divide in the UK?

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

19. So.....
Must be right to move social security online.
But there is a significant challenge in moving people
online, and then a further challenge in getting them
comfortable enough to interact with Government
online.
It won’t happen by accident, but the good news is
there are great examples to build on.
