Kerrang dps analysis
1. Task 3C – KERRANG! Double page spread
analysisTitle:
The title of this double spread matches the one which is the main cover
line on the front of the magazine. This is to almost further reiterate
exactly what the main article of this magazine is. It is bold and striking to
the nature of the colours (yellow, black and pink). This sets of the colour
scheme for the rest of the page.
Images:
Each of the albums have a
clear illustrated image of
their cover. This is to show
the reader what it looks like
as some people might be
able to not recognise the
name of the album, but
might recognise it when a
picture is shown.
Numbers:
The numbers of each album
in its place directly links
with how the number is
presented in the title. This is
to create some pattern and
scheme for the rest of the
magazine.
Featured articles:
Some articles have bigger writing space and writing than the rest of them. This is
because they are featured so they may have actually had an interview with the
band (here it is State Champs and Neck Deep). It also could be because they are
new and upcoming in the pop-punk industry and are lucky to make it into the
top 51.
Spacing:
The spacing and layout of each of the album caption is the same
throughout the whole of the magazine apart from the featured write
ups. This is to give each album the same amount of description so
that one does not look more important than the other.
Puffs:
The use of the puffs
around some titles and
numbers add some
uniqueness and variety to
the spread. If it didn’t
have little features like
this then it would just be
boring grid and
countdown to the number
one pop-punk album. No
one would want to read
such a boring gridded
feature. This adds
diversity and color into
the feature and makes it a
lot more interesting.
Linking:
I have not chose to include the entire featurette of the main
articles as all of the pages do indeed look the same as this
apart from maybe a few album definitions placed in different
places around the spread.
