1. ¡Bienvenidos! (Welcome!) This PowerPoint will introduce you to Spanish and prime you for the first reading activity (already?!?). You will soon realize that even though you are starting out, you can read some Spanish by using what you already know.

2. Instructions Think about the following claims about Spanish, and jot down whether you think they are true or false. You can check your answers at the end.

3. ¿Cierto o falso? After English, Spanish is the most frequently spoken language in the United States.

4. ¿Cierto o falso? One out of every ten United States residents speaks Spanish.

5. ¿Cierto o falso? The United States has the fifth largest population of Spanish speakers in the world.
