Summary of the Drama
JULIUSCAESAR is a play that revolves aroundthe incidentof Caesar's Deathby
his own friends. The chapter begins withCalpurnia, Caesar's wife who sees a
nightmare that Caesar is going to be killed. Caesar has just returned after
defeating Pompey's son, who wantedto be the dictator of Rome. He is puffed
with pride and is over confident. Calpurniasees omens and also the intuitions
and dreadful scenes seenby the watchmanthreaten her that Caesar is going to
be killed. ThenShe forbids himto go to theSenate. But then Brutus arrives and
takes himby interpreting Calpurnia dreamin a fair and fortunatevisionand
thus appealing to his vanityand overconfidence, able to sway him. Thenhe
enters the Senatewhere PUBLIUSCIMBER says that his brothers exiles must be
forgivenby ending the law that madehimsuffer exile. (Cont…….)
Summary of the Drama
This enrages Caesar and he says NO. So the conspirators stabCaesar one by one
and even his friendBRUTUS, the idealist stabs him. Thenhis loyal friend
ANTONYcomes and joins hands withConspirators(pretending only but actually
against them).Thenthe conspirators see that he is the most trustedfriendof
Caesar and he asks for a chance to speak at the funeral of Caesar. The
Conspirators agree to this as they feel that this would reflect their magnanimity
of heartbut also placesome conditions. Then At the funeral Brutus speaks first
and is able to justify the murder to the mob.NOW, it lies in Antony's hand how
to turnthe tide against thoseBUTCHERS(CONSPIRATORS),which he is actually
able to do by deftly ( skilfully) making his speech which swaysthe mob and thus
is able to win the support of the crowdand finallyavenges Caesar's deathalong
with Caesar's nephew.
