The student shaped and smoothed a doorstop over the course of their woodworking class. They used tools like a pencil, ruler, file, and gentle saw to cut and file the doorstop into a straight shape. The process of cutting small parts with the saw was difficult. For the next class, the student plans to make the doorstop round to resemble a key. Wearing an apron helped protect them from injury while working.

1. Process Journal #3<br />February/25th/2011<br />Shaping and Smoothing The Doorstop<br />Today, I shaped the doorstop. I used pencil, ruler, apron, file, and a gentle saw. I also smoothen out the doorstop. To smoothen out the doorstep with the file was easy, but to cut out small parts with the gentle saw was hard. The doorstep was not perfect but pretty straight.<br />Using the vice. I am holding my doorstep in the vice to cut the small parts I need to cut.I am cleaning the file. I am using a file card. The file was full of dust so I had to clean it to smoothen it better.I am smoothing the doorstop with the file. The file got dirty really fast because the dusts were all stuck in the file.I am cutting the small parts here using the gents saw. The gents saw’s teeth were really small so it was hard to cut.<br />The next class I am going to make my shape round. My doorstop is a key so it has to be round.<br /> <br />I was really happy about my doorstop. It was a perfect doorstop to me.<br />The AOI was Health and Social education. This was because I almost made a small cut if I was not wearing a apron. The apron saved my life.<br />I was a thinker when I was making this doorstep. I was thinking about “How would I cut this small parts by not hurting me?” “How will it be when I finish cutting this?”<br />I think I am very reflective. I think like this because I write my process journal almost every class.<br />
