What did I do?
- Making the plank for each side of the lamp part
Today, I continue make the edge of the wood better. I used a wood plane to make it smoother
because plane is the best way to make the wood more smoother. The edge of the wood is hard
to plane so Mr.Anderson helped me to cut it by using a saw machine. After finished the base
part, now I need the exact same copy of the plank that I cut. I used a pine wood but I can’t
found one in the recycle box so I need to use a new wood but cut some of it. Teacher helped
me to cut the wood using a table saw. I measure the same size of the wood and cut it using a
cross cut saw.
Next
Next, I will continue re-measure the size of the plank. I will need three of them. I will cut them by
using a Tenon saw because Tenon saw is the best technique to cut a line. If there any sharp
edges on the wood, I will be needed to file or sand it so it safe me to hold the wood. If I have
finished all the part perfectly, I can now started to make a block for the roof.
Weakness
My weakness for today is measuring it. I always did wrongly when measuring my wood
because sometime the ruler doest help. I will change to use a steel ruler and a sharp pencil
to measure it. I will be more carefully so I will get a correct measurement of the wood.
Strength
I did well in communicate with other people if I need help. I also did well in using the
crosscut saw because I haven’t used the saw before. Crosscut saw is help to cut a bigger
plane of wood in a straight line. The blade is sharp that made me to cut the wood easily.

2. Emotion
I felt happy that my lamp is well made and I still have got no problem so far. The part of the
lamp is almost finish and I just need to make few more parts of the lamp. I also felt sad
because I need to wait for winter break to continued to finished my other part of the lamp
Why
- Why did the edge of the block have sharp edges.
The block have a sharp edges because I used a coping saw to cut it. I should have used the
tenon saw because its a straight line but coping saw for the round line.But luckily, I cut over the
line so I can plane and cut some piece of the sharp edges.
Learner Profile
I chooses communicator because I communicate with people when doing my project. I ask for
help from Mr.Anderson and my friend to help me out using tools that I haven’t used before and
communicate with them is helping me doing my project.
