JONIŠKIS “AUŠROS“
GYMNASIUM
History
 Joniškis “Aušros“ gymnasium was
established in 1919 as a four year school.
 In 1936 it became Joniškis state
gymnasium.
 Since 1949 it was a secondary school.
 In 1999 it was named as Joniškis
“Aušros“ gymnasium (12 years)
 Since 2008 up to now it has been a four
year Joniškis “Aušros“ gymnasium
Nowadays
■ Now it is a four year school providing advanced secondary
education.
■ 377 students (14-19 year)
■ 37 teachers work here
Non formal education
■ Students have a possibility to participate in after school activities
such as music, sports and art clubs of different subjects
■ During every break we listen to music on Aušros radio and sometimes
questions are given to the listeners and when they answer, they win a prize
■ Teacher‘s day. Our school has a tradition when graduate students replace
teachers in the lessons and do fun stuff instead of teaching something.
■ The 2 biggest events for 12graders are last bell and Šimtadienis (100days left till
graduation)
School leavers come to school together with
their class teacher in an unusual and
extraordinary way. They are going across the
town signaling, with decorated cars.
Photos from various concerts
Also our school organises the sport events
for students
In september all school students had a 25km
hike with a map where were marked diffrent
spots so it was like orentiering game too.
One of the traditional events at school is
christening of the first year students.
The beginners have to do different and
challenging tasks just to prove they are worth
holding the name of gymnasium students.
To sum up, our students are active,
initiative and school is always ready to
help to us.
