- 5. Universal Design Application As we discussed in unit 2, universal design for learning includes the flexibility and variation among the way information is taught and practiced in a classroom. The more variety in the learning environment, and the less uniformity, allows for children of many different skills and with multiple intelligences obtain more information since students may learn better with different forms of teaching. This lesson plan accounts for this in that the hands-on SMARTboard activities have variety since some include matching and categorizing, while one involved filling in the blank with a visual diagram. The lesson plan also incorporates reading text along with the teacher to understand the process of photosynthesis. The visual, audible, and tactile aspects are all addressed throughout the lesson plan to help account for multiple learning styles and convey universal design.
