The stage manager is responsible for overseeing all backstage operations during a performance, including ensuring actors and props are ready at the appropriate times and communicating with other crew members. The deputy stage manager assists the stage manager and fills their role if needed. The front of house manager oversees all front of house operations like ticket sales and ushering audiences.

1. Stage Manager: Stage Manager is the one that is in charge of everything
backstage, from making sure everyone is backstage that is needed for the
upcoming scene to the props and set being put on stage at the right times.
Communication is key when you're a stage manager as you need to
communicate with assistant stage manager left and right, if they need to
make sure everyone on their side is ready to go on stage and make sure the
certain props they need on each side are there and ready to be taken on. Also
the stage manager needs to tell the lighting and sound operators when the
acts are ready for the next scene and they can bring the lighting and sound
up. In the Heights there is a section where there is a street fight so the stage
manager would have to make sure everyone who isn't already of stage is
backstage ready to come on when they have to and they also have to
communicate with the lighting and sound operator when everyone is on
stage ready for maybe a certain lighting and sound effect for the fight scene.
Deputy Stage Manager: The deputy Stage Manager is just as important as
stage manager so if they're not in or busy the next person you would ask
would be the deputy stage manager. So again things like all entrances and
exits, that all furniture is in the right place and is moved at the right time,
that the movements of the actors in the play, the ‘blocking’, is recorded on
special copies of the script. It is truly a backstage role. The Deputy has to
communicate with the stage manager to pass the message on to the lighting
and sound operator that everything they have done has been taken care of
and everything is ready.
FOH Manager: The Front Of House manager is in charge of everything and
everyone to do with FOH. They give out jobs and monitor if everything is
going right, so they have to make the entrance look nice for audience so set
the programmes up nicely and get tables for taking tickets and putting
decoration on or around it which looks more professional. They give out job
to the FOH team and it can vary from; collecting money, serving drinks in
the interval, selling programmes, ushering the audience into the performance
space in a safe and welcoming manner and even asking for donations to
charities or companies that we could of used their equipment in.

2. Sound Designer: The Sound Designer isn't always the person to operate
sound on the night, they create the sound so not just use the backing tracks
from the original musical but composing scene change music. Researching
the play of what type of music links to the scene because it wouldn't make
sense if they're was a sad scene and then happy music was on. The sound
designer could also design music to go on in the background for example
sound effects and mark in the script where they want them for the sound
operator. For example in the fight scene there would be frantic music not
happy music.
Lighting Designer: The Lighting Designer isn't always the person to
operate sound on the night, they design a lighting plan of what colours they
want on the night. Researching the play of what type of lighting links to the
scene because it wouldn't make sense that there is a power cut in the play
which is script and they no lights go off. If a happy song is on then there
wouldn't be dull lighting for a sad scene.
Costume Mistress: The costume mistress provides the costume or tells the
performers what type of costume they need them to provide. They will need
to do a lot of research of what era it is set in and what country etc to link
with the musical and what the characters are like so their personality can be
shown through their costume not just their acting. So Graffiti Pete would be
wearing quite scruffy clothes with paint and spray paint on them. They can
also help with quick changes backstage if any of the performers need help.
Prop Mistress: The Props Mistress is in charge of props, making sure
they're are in place where they need to be on the night and reading through
the script and researching the play making sure she has every prop that is
needed. She can design them or go out and buy them. Marking out on her
script when and what prop she needs. For example Graffiti Pete will
obviously need spray cans but maybe he wants them in a certain spot for a
scene so the prop mistress has to make sure it is there in that scene.
Sound Operator: The sound operator is the one that operator on the night
but they are needed in tech rehearsals and dress rehearsals, they write the
right ques for when they need a certain piece of music and if they need a
fade or not on the music. They will use the music as well that the sound
designer has composed and play it at the point where the sound designer
said.

3. Assistant Stage Manager: There are two assistant stage managers one for
the left side of the stage and one for the right. They have to communicate
with the stage and deputy stage manager that all the props that have been
designated on their side so not all props are being brought on one side as it
can cause injuries and look really messy. They also have to tell the stage
manager know that all the performers that are on their side are ready so the
stage manager can tell the lighting and sound operators that the acts are
ready. They also need a copy of the script to keep an eye on when certain
props or performers need to be ready backstage to go on next.
Lighting Operator: The lighting operator is the one that operator on the
night but they are needed in technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals, they
write the right ques for when they need certain lighting and if they need a
fade or not on the lighting or they just want it to snap straight into that
lighting. They will use the lighting plan as well that the lighting designer has
designed.
Assistant Costume: They will help the costume mistress make the costumes
if need be or help think of ideas for characters. They can also help with
quick changes.
Assistant Props: They will help the props mistress make the props if need
be or provide them. Or even help think of ideas for characters. They can also
help with bringing props on in certain scenes.
