GC4: Material List
Materials Where can we
get it from?
What for and Justification
Plywood Been provided
for
This is used for the creating of the flat. This will be
cut out at 1.22m wide and 1.9m height.
Screws and Drills and Saw Been provided
for
This is for constructing the flat and connecting my
design of the fire escape to the flat. I need 10 screws
to connect the five steps to the backboard and the
drill to put these in place. I will also need a saw to
help cut out my flat to the correct size. I have to
make sure it is steady and safe so that the flats will
not come loose or fall down.
Polystyrene I have used the polystyrene to create the bricks on
the flat. I have cut them to out to the specific size of
30cm to 10cm and stuck them in a pattern of my
design. I did this because after researching the play
it is set in down town Manhattan which after
researching and designing there are different odd
bricks which helps my design become more realistic.
These have also been put on all the flats to help
them all seem like there in the same area.
Matt Interior walls and
ceiling Paint: Cocoa Bean
B&Q I needed this specific colour paint to colour in the
different bricks on my flat to contrast to the back
colour of wholemeal. I have done this so the brick
stand out a lot and also I have used this colour
mixing with the black to create a dirty pattern on
the flat to make it look run down because from the
script I have found out that it is set in down town
Manhattan in a very low social class and therefore I
have shown this by scratching in dirty colours which
makes it look realistic.
Home of Colour Paint :
Charcoal
B&Q I have used black paint for the fire escapes so that it
is completely different to the colours I have used on
my flat but also to make the ladder bold and stand
out. I have also mixed tis with brown to create a
dirty pattern on the flat to make it look run down
because from the script I have found out that it is
set in down town Manhattan in a very low social
class and therefore I have shown this by scratching
in dirty colours which makes it look realistic.
Matt Interior walls and
ceiling Paint: colour
Wholemeal
B&Q I have used the Wholemeal colour for the back base
of my flat. I did this because then I can decorate my
flat with darker shades of dirt to make it look old
and worn down for realism without it blending in to
the back colour so it helps the dirt stand out. I also
did this as the back colour so that it matches in with
the Taxi Rank which is underneath my flat and Flat
two so it makes the whole flat look as one
apartment.
This is my material list for “In The heights”. A material list is very important within creating
my product because is ensure that I will include all my design material and that all the
supplies are present so it will be very time efficient. It will also save on the money budget
because it will let me know how many supplies I can get and also the quantity. This will help
let me know everything that is required for the overall construction of the product.
GC4: Material List
Ivy / Moss Outside I have included moss and vines within my design
where I will put then round the ladder and hanging
of the balcony and also round the top and corners of
my flat. I have done this because through
researching the play I know that they are in down
town Manhattan which makes them in a much
lower social class so therefore the vines and moss
helped show how they are dirty and worn down
with overgrown plants.
Wood B&Q We are using the wood to make a fire escape as it
would be too time consuming to make out of metal.
I have created this with solid wood to make sure it
was secure and because it would be too flimsy to
make out of card. So we will make it out of wood. I
have included the fire escape because when looking
within the script it says in Act 2 scene 2 it is called
the Rosario fire escape. The size of the fire escape
will be ……………
