to patients, as well as assist
them in daily activities they
might have trouble with on
their own, such as bathing.
Because of the personal
nature of the job, a nursing

must include ability to be
compassionate and enjoy
helping others. in nursing
or long-term care facilities,
a NA is often a patient’s

SUMMARY
Nursing Assistant assist
patients with daily
activities and Responsible
for caring for elderly,
disabled, mentally ill, or
injured patients in a
healthcare setting. Performs
direct care duties, including
bathing, feeding, dressing,
and ambulating
CORE FUNCTIONS
 Perform routine tasks under the
supervision of registered nurses/
Senior Nursing Assistant.
 Take patient's temperature, pulse,
and respiration rate.
 Take blood pressure and determine
if range is abnormal
 Prepare and serve meals.
 Feed patient and mash up
food if necessary
 Answer calls for help and
determine if additional help
is needed.
 Bathe and dress
patient.
 Make beds and
perform light
housekeeping duties
in patient's room.
 Take patient on walks
 Deliver them to operating
rooms.
 Set up equipment
 Provide skin care.
 Store and move supplies.
 Observe fluid intake
and output.
 Report abnormal
changes or patterns
to senior nursing
staff.
 Develop nurturing
relationships with
patient.
 Empty bedpans and
change dirty linens.
 Report violent
behavior.
 Follow proper
procedures for lifting
and moving patients.
