1. DEPUTY UNIT ENGINEER
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the department in the absence of the Chief Engineer.
Running the day to day operation of the engineering department.
Assist Chief Engineer with annual budgeting and CAPEX.
Assist the Chief Engineer to design and implement projects to improve the physical product.
Identify needs for improvement projects and supervise project implementations.
Ensure all PPM plans are finalized at various intervals and discuss with the Chief Engineer for
approval.
Monitor planned and unplanned maintenance programs for the various systems such as: air
conditioning & electrical, refrigeration, FLS equipment, building maintenance including furniture &
fixtures, painting, part renewal and repairs, kitchen and laundry equipment, low voltage (LV),guest
rooms, F&B outlets, function/banquet areas, front/heart of house, plumbing and drainage, etc.
Co-ordinate/inform other departments and Chief Engineer with regards to inconvenience, noise and
duration of engineering works.
Ensure all engineering records are logged and file accordingly in coordination with engineering
coordinator.
Check all engineering check list and daily reading and follow up on concerns when required.
Prepare daily tasks with Chief Engineer and supervisors.
Conduct daily engineering briefing and distribute daily work assignments.
Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain correct supplies and ensure proper implementation of
contracts.
Work closely with engineering technical purchaser to ensure all engineering stores are well
maintained and organized.
Negotiate and verify maintenance contracts and supplier invoices (Can sign invoices only in the
absence of the C.E)
Ensure that maintenance & repairs performed by contractors are executed in accordance with agreed
health and safety policy, contracts, fees or charges.
Liaise with government and statutory bodies to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
Provide training to all department staff to ensure safe work practices, efficient operation, proper
maintenance and repair to equipment, as well as good team morale.
Maintain healthy and good working relation with engineering and other departments.
